The Life and Struggles of a 75-Year-Old Transylvanian Couple

- Most of us had or have a grandma like her..
On our journey in the Transylvanian mountains, we've met Mr. Ilie (75 years old) and Mrs. Minerva (71 years old). They live alone in the village area of Gârda de Sus, on a smaller area named Poiana Călineasa.
Through our documentaries we want to underline the fact that these places and these traditions are on the verge of disappearance, very few people are still willing to live so remotely with no electricity and no running drinking water.
There is no scripting on our videos, and we only document the real life of these awesome people.

4 Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. 5 But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head-it is the same as having her head shaved. 6 For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.
Basmaua/baticul(Romanian) or the wave with which the woman covers her head, has given rise to many controversies. And this happened because, on the one hand, the words of the Holy Apostle Paul were not understood, and on the other hand, even without knowing the words of the Apostle Paul, we see that in the church some women have their heads covered, and others do not.
When you see that the Holy Liturgy can start and end in the conditions where not all women have their heads covered, you can't help but say to yourself: it is not mandatory to wear a headscarf, otherwise, the priest would not have started the Liturgy, and if during its unfolding, if a woman appeared without her head covered, the father would have had to interrupt the Liturgy.
On the door at the entrance to some Romanian churches is written: enter only in decent clothing. And it is mentioned what decent clothing consists of: not to enter in shorts, tank tops, etc., but it is not said that women must have their heads covered. So, you can't help but wonder: should a woman wear her head covered in church?
In order to properly understand the words of the Holy Apostle Paul, we must state from the beginning that the place in the church is not identical to any public place, it is a sanctified one. And in this very special place, the outfit mysteriously expresses the way of communion with God.
If for the ancients, speaking with your head uncovered was a sign that you were speaking without hiding something, hence the saying "to tell the truth naked", for Christians, uncovering the head means opening up to God honestly, without guile. Saint Maxim the Confessor says that the discovery of the head symbolizes the mind which, in the time of prayer, must be inhabited by the Logos, by the Word of God. That is, it must not have other worldly thoughts in it. It is not in vain that all worldly care is asked let's throw it away.
The Church announces that the man is the head of the woman and that "women must submit to men" (Ephesians 5, 22). What does this mean? As once the mind (head) has been enlightened by the Logos, it must be covered, that is, we must not put in it anything more than the received Word, because otherwise it becomes dark. Here is the reason why the woman must cover her head.
Therefore, the fact that men have their heads uncovered, and women have them covered, is not related to popular tradition, but to the order of the Orthodox Church, as can be seen from the iconography.

Я тоже так думаю. Знаю как тжело за ними ухаживать, особенно зимой. А как они сено заготавливают? Пенсии они получают две, им должно хватить на жизнь. Я из России и уже давно на пенсии, мне хватает на нормальную жизнь. 🎉
