I have known this song from way back when Daniel Balavoine sang it all those years ago. I've always loved it but when I heard Dimash's version, well what can I say, I fell in love with his voice! Dimash has been singing it for years and his french has improved a lot and in all his versions he muddles up his words but WHO CARES! I know cos I'm French but no one else would notice and to be honest the talent, the beauty, the artistry, and I could go on and on, makes it that in the end the exact words don't really matter! This is masterful!
At one point you said I don't know what he's saying but look at him, he's feeling it. Well it is quite deep really. At that moment he sang : Why do I live? Why do I die? Why do I laugh? Why do I cry?
And like you, my favourite is Samal Tau. So emotional! Brrrrr...shivers!

That STUDIO belongs to him. its his favourite room in home in Kazakhstan. 😆
He did this at home on the day of his 26th birthday - in fact, he worked really hard for his Dears that day, as he also spent about two hours on Facebook and Instagram, doing a Q&A for the first time, in three languages (he had an interpreter to help!). I think he was a bit overwhelmed with the response - you could see his eyes flickering as he tried in vain to read the tons of questions and comments from all over the world!
During lockdown he also produced three different videos for ‘We Are One’, another called ‘Aliya’, the soundtrack for Creators - The Movie ‘Across Endless Dimensions’, and finished his Master’s degree, defending his thesis with a mark of 100%. He’s currently in the throes of recording a new album of Kazakh songs, with a video for one of them coming “soon”. (He’s been quite busy really lol!)
P.S. When you paused and said he looked in despair, he was singing “Why do I cry?”

Great reaction to a great song ! I know by heart the original song cause I am French and it is a song in French from a French singer called Daniel Balavoine , who was my favorite singer in the 80’s, before he died accidentally in 1986 😢I am amazed by this epic version ! The way Dimash is singing it is full of emotion , and it translates perfectly the lyrics ! His voice is absolutely fabulous ! You should listen to the original version : Daniel Balavoine had one of the most beautiful voices and he was putting so much intensity and emotion in each of his songs. And, if you have some minutes more, go and listen to “tous les cris les SOS” , which is the most beautiful and pure song of Daniel Balavoine. I know a little your musical tastes now ( and how you are receptive to certain voices, like Tyler Joseph’s voice...) , trust me .. you should love it ❤️❤️

In sophisticated or refined French, when there is a consonant at the end of a word like "jamais" and the word after begins by a vowel (in this case "eu") you make a "liaison", i.e you pronounce "jamais zeu". In fact, you take S from "jamais" and you transport it to "eu".
J'ai jamais zeu les pieds sur terre...
C'est très littéraire... et très beau, comme réciter une Fable de Lafontaine...
