Winter Games - Apple IIGS (full game)

Winter Games for the Apple IIGS, released in 1987 by Epyx and Westwood Studios.
A sample play-through of all 6 events: Hot Dog, Ski Jump, Figure Skating, Bobsled, Free Style Skating and Biathlon (the latter incomplete).
While the graphics were ported from the Atari ST, the audio is distinctly unique to the Apple IIGS and its Ensoniq sound chip. Although a very early title, Westwood really took advantage of the the 15-voice wavetable music synthesis and stereo audio effects the IIGS offered.

Recording the music was one of the most important parts of this capture, and what makes the IIGS port so unique! (the graphics, while nice, are a 1:1 port from the Atari ST version). This particular music engine is also unique, the only other game that used it was World Games--another IIGS capture I'd like to do!

@@Apple2gs Yeah, World Games also by Epyx. I grew up with the iigs, all those old great tunes are stuck in my brain forever. The iigs version of Qix is an all time favorite of mine, absolutely love the sound

@@underwaterlevelz1947 - Absolutely! Qix had an amazing soundtrack on the IIGS (there's a YT video of its high score music if you do a search). Also loved the music in Rocket Ranger, Zany Golf, The Immortal, Taito's Rastan and so many others. The GS had such a unique music and sound quality that no other computer had, it was incredibly underrated. Still to this day, even among retro collectors!
