- FiddleHed is the fun way to learn fiddling online!
I have a course called Irish Fiddle Journeys which shows you how to play this music and add variation. In other words, it will make your fiddling sound more like fiddling. Are you interested? If so, then I'll send you some introductory lessons with sheet music, tabs, play-along track and exclusive videos. Just click here: fiddlehed.co/I...
Alrighty. Play every day, have fun 😀 and thanks for making music 🙏
Now, go fiddle with it...
Jason 🎻
Love the sound of playing in sets and learning how to put them together. It's a grand master plan I'm looking forward to. Thanks for another great tune to learn.
Deborah, you are welcome! Thanks for watching.
A bit of a challenge, but a great sounding tune. A fiddler friend asked me to send her the notation and haven't heard how she is finding it. I should text her an inquirey and ask. Myself with mandolin, I should take these mundane winter days and wrap my fingers around this tune. Cheers, Jason. Bob
Awesome. Thanks
oh!! thank you for making it possible ! you're amazing !!
Fabulous! I just learnt this on the tin whistle!! Thank you so much!
Cooley's Reel! What a treat! This is a brilliant, cool tutorial! Congratulations and thanks so much! A formidable help!
You're welcome, Jc. I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching the channel.
Cooley's Reel. A cool reel, taught by a cool guy, to cool people. 😎
Love the lesson for this, on lockdown so I can’t meet up with my teacher but you broke it down so well that I’m on my way! Thank you🙏
Glad you like it👍🎉
I've just watch you do the coolies reel lesson, it's so clear I'm hoping to follow it for the piano accordion Thank you
thanks so much again dude !
Happy to help, appreciate you sharing in on this 🎶

The end of the A part quotes the opening of Frère Jacques !! Very cool tune. I look forward to doing St. Anne's Reel into Cooley's Reel then doing Road to Lisdoonvarna into Swallowtail Jig. I can hear how it would work in my head.
enjoying fiddlehead lessons..
you are awesome man
excellent tutorial
Thank you! Cheers!
you make it easy to learn, and with humor
Smiling. Thanks.
Hey Jason, you're lessons are fantastic. As a Brit, it's really hard to find the Appalachian lessons, so it's much appreciated. Once your reels are complete, could it be possible to get an introduction to The Blackest Crow? Apologies if you've already covered this and I've missed it; you have such high output. Thanks buddy!
This is great, thank you so much
Totally interested in learning how to combine tunes like jigs with jigs or reels with other reels etc,. I'll be keeping a eye out for that lesson👀
Wonderful lesson Jason Thankyou from UK
Colin, so much of our fiddle music comes from the UK so thank you, too. Glad you found my channel!
It's been a while since I watched one of these, your lessons are awesome. I need to get back to practicing haha good video :D
Thanks, Shane. :)
Thanks for doing what you do, I’m a guitar player learning fiddle and your making it extremely possible, do you have a video on “thank god I’m a country boy”
Justin Rutan I’m glad you’re having a good time with my videos! Unfortunately I don’t have a lesson like that, but things may change!
I very much enjoy your instruction! What are the three reels that you teach in a set (referencing your comments early in this CZcams video).
I'm on the brink of getting a fiddle as my unemployment looks like it's going to extend well into 2021. I've neglected music for many years but I've played mandolin and various bowed instruments previously so I feel comfortable with the instrument's scale length and using a bow. I'm wondering if you can recommend a mid-level fiddle to me to get into it, or if based on what I've said if a mid-level instrument is for me. Thanks in advance, I look forward to learning from your channel a lot!
Your lessons are fantastic! By far the best I have found online. Are you performing at all?
Sean, take a look at the Fiddlehed Facebook page. I just posted the most recent playing schedule for Diego's Umbrella.
Could somebody write the full song with finger positions, please?
It sounds very Road to Lisdoonvarna "ish" to me at points - could that be part of the medley
Hello sir, say, is the first note a D or an E? Thank you. I don't read music or play the fiddle but I do find it helpful learning tunes by ear on my concertina.
Never you mind I got it. Thanks for the great video!
Amazing,,,,just perfect,, man just tell me the brand of the violin you re holding, it s fantastic though
K & L Stradivarius copy.
Great tune. I'm an adult student and having a lot of fun learning it. Is there a way to indicate the slurs in tablature? If so, it sure would result in a more mature and refined sound. Also, I really like the idea of The Grand Master Plan. For the three reels it would be awesome to have some sort of homogenous style among them, rather than mixing in an 'old time', for example.
I have a video about slurring How to Play the Slur on the Fiddle. You might want to take a look at it. The bowing videos, too. This is a basic version of the tune. When I have the time I will make a version of the tune with variations but fiddlers can develop the style that sounds good to them. j.
Hi there! I know a previous comment mentioned this, but I really love your bowing and wondering if you used a certain piece of sheet music you could forward me a link to?! :-) Thanks!
I listen to different versions and then play. The new site will have some sheet music. Sorry it is taking so long to get it running.
Great tune. I'm a little puzzled over one of the notes. In the tabs for the first quarter of the B part the 10th note is shown as EL2, whereas the fingerboard in the top right of the video shows E2, which one is correct?
EL2 is correct.
Can u do a lesson on Spanish lady. The Doubliners do a nice version of it.
Will get that on the Very Long Request List!
Vanessa, did you know we have a FIddleHed Facebook page? There is a request event going on there this week. Go there, look for the post about the request event and list Spanish Lady. If it is in the top five, it might be the next video.
if i play the fiddle on top a bridge over a river would the water amplify the sound?
Don't know. Try it.
What a great question - and a great idea. How about under the bridge to catch some wavy harmonics and echos? Now I'm thinking of finding my nearest accessible waterway bridge?
Is your cat's name "Kitty"?
Is the 3rd quarter of Part B tabs missing the ending?
criosamn - yes it is incorrect. Jason, can you please patch the tab and post a play-along?
Yes...thanks, criosamn for the catch and thanks for watching.
I'll get the play along for this on the request list. Thanks for watching the channel!
This was driving me crazy, but I figured it out. Wish I had read this first!
:)
Prims??
What is looping?? Playing it twice?
Vanessa, looping is going over a series of notes until you feel comfortable with it. Depending on how complicated the phrase is, it could be more than twice. You are developing muscle memory. Cheers.

What's your cat's name?
KITTY! cheers!
I love your stuff but sometimes just breaking down doesn't help....I could do with you playing it slowly like 4 times so I can have it on repeat.
Thanks for this feedback, this helps us grow 🙏🏽 Glad you enjoy this.
The FiddeHed program has audio play-along-tracks that can also be downloaded.
We offer a trial membership for folks interested in trying it out. Sign up here: fiddlehed.com

I'll also add your suggestion to our list. Happy music making to you 🎶
poop. thi one is hard. jut because the rythm seem to change.
so often, it s actually hard to remember. I guess its abut practise.
Break it down in to pieces and practice piece by piece....looping..listen to it, too. You need to hear it in your head before you can play it well. Don't give up. Maybe put it aside for a few days and then come back to it but don't give up if you like the tune.
