Drill holes 5 holes in each exhaust right before the muffler, it's free and sounds amazing (trust me it's a good sound, I did it last week, it sounds great).

That’s an interesting idea, seems like a home made version of open exhaust yet not open. I bet it does sound mean!

How large were each of the holes that you drilled? And do you still like it with the drilled exhaust?

I’m about to add a 07 sl550 to my fleet and exhaust work will be my first and probably only mod unless I throw the wheels on my 2009 Honda Odyssey minivan then I’ll probably get some nice wheels (HRE knock offs😂🤣) I need to hear that 8 cylinders baby!!!😍

      @@moosemadevideo9330 thanks for the video✌🏽

I have a 2011 SL550, factory exhaust and I don’t want to have it be loud - but deeper and more throaty ! Sound like an x pipe at 2 1/4 and resonator delete and keep the muffler and current stock tips should be the trick ?!
The next level is remove stock muffler and add twin tips - ala SL63 for even more sound ?

The factory mufflers are very effective at doing their job, which is of course to muffle the sound. Removing just the resonators will add a bit of “loudness” because there will be some drone in the cabin. If I were to do it over again I would leave the resonators and get different mufflers. X pipe is good for equalizing the pulses from the exhaust giving more of a r-r-r-r sound. In tandem with a good muffler.
      Thank you.

Did you weld it on or used clamps?

Does the resonator delete allow you to hear more pops when letting go of the gas after hitting let's say 3000 rpm? I have an SL500 with muffler delete, sound is great, just want more pops, so was wondering if resonator delete will do the trick. Thanks!

Well, I don’t hear the misfire pops, prolly because I still have the mufflers intact. Though I am considering removing those too. I’m willing to bet it would let more “pops” through and not absorb them if you remove the resonator. Of course the computer is really fast at adjusting the timing so to not cause damage to the pistons. Thanks for watching!

@@moosemadevideo9330 Honestly with the muffler delete it sounds mean and rumbles nicely, so I would highly recommend it. I cut off the mufflers and did what you did and put a pipe to the original exhaust tips. If you do delete the mufflers, definitely share or let me know how it sounds! I held off on the resonator because of droning concerns, have you had any droning problems without the resonators?

Thanks for the info! As to the drone, there isn’t any with the set up I have now, Highway speeds there is the usual road noise, but I can still have a conversation even with the top down. Local driving no noise but the awesome sound of Mercedes V8!

@@moosemadevideo9330 I hear you, that V8 is sadly very muffled, so definitely a game changer when you can hear the roar! I think I just might try out the resonator delete later this week if my local shop is up for the job. Will let you know how it sounds, and thanks for the info, really appreciate it!

What is the pipe size that you used is it 2.5"

You would have been better off replacing the section you cut off with an xpipe, that way you wouldn't lose hp from deleting the resonators...

Thanks for watching, I have an X pipe just downstream of where I cut out the resonators. I agree having an X pipe is really beneficial!
