Yeah I've never been a Kershaw fan. All speed-safe black handle satin blades. This video was just bleh
SpeedSafe has been a thing for Kershaw lines since just before the 2000s, it's pretty integral to their knives. It'd kinda be like going to Spyderco and complaining about the spyderhole.
The problem isn't SpeedSafe. I get it, some people don't like assisted knives. But SpeedSafe is not the issue. Being able to deassist SpeedSafe and still have a decent working detent, however, is an issue. Some knives can not be deassisted whatsoever. Some are kinda meh. Some work just perfectly fine when deassisted. Depends on how it's designed.
Now, the shit Chinese steel being the only options for so many knives and Kershaw failing to bring their designs and offer more premium versions of them? That is a problem. Has been for years and years now.

...Except for the ZT 0770. And 0566. And 0750. And 0300/0301. You're right, except for all those other knives including the 0770OD and 0566CF which hit the market last year, Kershaw will never touch SpeedSafe again. I don't quite know why ZT kept using SpeedSafe for something like HALF A DECADE including for knives they released even last year despite "never going back to it again." Maybe they just didn't get your memo?

Those two knives with GTC flippers should have better materials and/or be in the ZT lineup.
Every year manufacturers recycle the expensive models by changing some minor, unimportant details while the new, interested designs get thrown in the budget range and that's why people avoid them.
Or at the very, very least, not f*cking speedsafe. I was sold until he said it...

They're testing the market. I'm sure they'll make some changes as the year goes on. Gotta crawl before you can walk.

It doesn't seem like the GTC flipper ZT went over well. It is clearanced out for like 160 now.

As collectors of top tier stuff I get why a lot of Kershaw fans are upset over this reveal. But as a blue collar worker who doesnt have mich money for knives, these budget knives have me STOKED cause I love a lot of the designs and can’t wait to use them without breaking the bank.

A lot of interesting designs this year! Still not sure about speed safe but I am curious enough about some of the designs to try it again.
Looks like Kershaw has a great lineup for the new year.
Kershaw trying the market out with lots of designs as usual. I love it. They dip their toe in the water more than any company and they're very innovative. It's like they know some of them will be hits and most of them will flop but they're testing the market. I actually really like that.
I have never been disappointed with any of my Kershaw knives.

SLT?! Awesome! Speedsafe?! Uhm, wtf. Kershaw was already going away from speedsafe and that stuff would work just fine with KVT even if it were a bit more for MSRP.
Maybe Jim was off his game because he is hungover or has the shot show plague but it would be nice to know what blade steels they are using. I know a lot of these are budget conscious so they are likely 8Cr13Mov but the recent Kershaw's with M390 have a killer price.
That mini hawkbill auto (Launch 10) looks like a "must purchase" for me. A handy Amazon PKG opener.

You want to hear something funny? I had a boss that was really into firearms. He always used to boast about his 10mm Glock and his other guns. When I showed him one of my knives (Cold Steel mini Recon 1) he actually got scared.
I was like, "Why would you be scared of this if you are used to a hand blaster?" Ha ha ha.

@@lilmustache1799 I prefer a manual pivot. Speedsafe makes it seem cheap and covers up a pivot that isn't smooth enough by itself.

Dumb question here but how do you avoid the blade accidentally opening in your pocket? Say like on the Launch 10 or launch 8? Does it take quite a bit of force to push the button and open the blade??

Kershaw and ruining cool designs with speed safe: name a more iconic duo
CRKT and ruining nice designs with cheap steel. Spyderco and overpriced. Benchmade and bad blade centering. I think they stopped recently but still maybe Cold Steel and horrible ads. But honestly I agree, assisted mechanisms are knife cancer and major disappointment now that in last two years they showed how good manual knife they can do.

Wish they came up with a hardcore shuffle 2 version with a bigger grip, better steel and larger blade because that little guy is the best looking pocket knife i ever seen.

Was definitely hoping for kvt flippers. actually love the Natrix kvt and I actually just ordered a fraxion kvt. I have benchmades and still find myself constantly grabbing for the Natrix with only 8cr and the nice kvt flipper. Disappointed.

Lots of almosts. Last year was great, lot of swap meet looking stuff this year. Kind of a bummer. Love the flat sheep's foot style blades they're leaning towards, but the handles they're attached to are not super exciting.

Wow lots of more unique designs from Kershaw, some of them definitely have that custom feel/look. I can see people in the comments are getting bogged down on the blade steel. These are really good prices for the other materials and features put into it, but I agree a tiny bit better blade steel would be nice, but it's not a deal breaker for me if I do like the knife.
Any word on when the Turismo is gonna be for sale?

I finally made it I am so excited for these new releases!!
I bought a nice USA made kershaw years ago; easy to open, steel handle. I bought a second one made in China. Nice blade but the dang handle was composite and cheap and the clip fell off. I was lucky to find two small screws at a hardware store to put the clip back on.

I love the launch series so much, I wish Kershaw would embrace the manual flippers they have been doing so much. The copper natrix was my favorite thing last year. I hope they move past the speed safe gas station knives soon

@Evan Lopez That is full MSRP and you aren't paying that when you order from Blade HQ or really anywhere else. If the MSRP is $45 it will probably be more like $30-$35. Can't expect much from a cheap knife like that. I wouldn't buy any Kershaw besides the US made knives to begin with. I like some of the designs but I don't want the cheap steel. I don't see why they couldn't at least offer some of their Chinese knives with upgraded steels doesn't even have to be a supersteel could just be the Sanvik steel they use in US made knives or D2, VG10, ATS-34, 154cm. It might make a knife that was $40 jump to $75-$100 but they would sell. Could make a version with the cheap 8cr13mov steel and another with a better steel and both would sell.

All launch series are 154.They may do some runs of s30v. Bought a launch 3 from bhq advertised as s30v but was 154cm so I returned it. Don't know if it was a labeling error or if s30v launches actually exist

8cr is fine. For a $35 or less knife! Are they watching CRKT? You can't have a great design and use crappy steel to stick a $60 price tag on it.
