- It was a pleasure going out and filming the first-ever arrival of a Caribbean Airlines MAX 8 at Kingston Norman Manley Int’l Airport. The Caribbean MAX 8 arrived runway 12 at 9:46 AM and departed runway 12 at 1:08 PM.
The aircraft is 0.6 years old and it was delivered November 2021. Caribbean Airlines is expected to receive more Max 8 aircraft in the coming months on lease as it works to upgrade its fleet. All of the new Max 8 aircraft will come in painted in the airline’s new livery.
The airline announced the Max order in 2018 and the aircraft are destined to replace the older 737-800 models. Caribbean Airlines headquartered is in Port of Spain in Trinidad & Tobago the next Max 8 to be delivered is registered 9Y-GUY
When 9Y-CAL arrived in Kingston on January 14, 2022 that was its first revenue flight. The new Boeing 737 Max 8 came just in time when the airline is celebrating its 15th anniversary.
Caribbean Airlines will have transitioned its jet fleet entirely to the Boeing 737 Max 8 by July 2022, phasing all its Boeing 737-800s out in the process.

Joint ownership by TNT and Jamaica..with operations based in Jamaica...showing how strong Caribbean ppl are if we work together. Love it
Jamaica government only have 20% Share operation based in Trinidad and Tobago
lets stick together my Caribbean brothers we would be a force to be reckoned with
We are all the same LOVE your statement
I love the new livery on this aircraft, it’s gunna be a workhorse for Caribbean Airlines, and help strengthen the reputation of this plane ✈️
Yup That's the CAL Boeing 737 Max 8 in The New Livery Plus the workhorse you mean is there current Boeing 737-800NG's that will be replace by them.
Reputation of plane or airline.
@@65NART both I guess
Excellent smooth landing for such a big plane. Love how the Pilot had it slithering around like a model in a contest.👏👏♥️
737 is tiny in comparison to the heavies. Not considered a 'big' jet in the industry but a smooth landing nonetheless.
BW 417 was the first Caribbean Airline Flight I ever took, remember it like it was yesterday, and from then I fell in love with the 737-800
I still remember back in the days when I was seeing BWIA WEST INDIES ah the good old days..
Landing looks smooth as ever
BRING BACK AIR JAMAICA
Thank you for capturing and sharing this piece of history
Stunning catch, great video, cool livery too!
Fantastic capture!!! What a beauty!
Stunning capturing 👌
It is a beautiful thing!
Amazing catch with nice livery
Beautiful footage of this first visit! Very nicely done my friend! :)
Simply beautiful:
Someone/s setup to do a really good job of 🎥 video recording the plane coming from a distance, to close, to coming in for landing beautifully, very nicely done.👌
Excellent video buddy. Thumb up for this great video :D
It's a beauty

Can't wait to see these at YYZ! Great footage! :)
Amazing 👏
awesome stuff !!!!
The humming bird is so special on the tail
did yall forget that this was the type of plane that was grounded because two of them fell out of the sky five months apart in 2019?!
I remember. I hope Boeing fixed the software of the 737-Max8.
I cound rather love to see the beautiful Air Jamaica the Love Bird back in the sky
So?
@@shirleystaple3432 Air Jamaica 🇯🇲 The most beautiful bird 🐦 in the Air 😊
After being grounded for over 2 years, it’s probably the world’s safest aircraft now.
About time you guys get yuh act together
Awesome 🇹🇹❤
The Caribbean is beautiful and so is that livery, The hummingbird has a nice Caribbean Vibe with it's beautiful colors like the people of the islands now. It's very imaginative, well done Caribbean Airlines
Yes, jointly owned after Trinidad and Tobago acquired Air Jamaica when Air Jamaica went into difficulty financially.
I enjoyed watching thi video thanks
the new livery on the aircraft is nice, but i'm a real fan of the turquoise hummingbird on tailfin.
Oh how I miss those days ! Had my frequent flyer card 😊
Awesome
The princess of the sky
Ya, looks absolutely beautiful with those AT wingtips
@@kparkes5413 cool
I think we need to have our own national airline again so that guyanese customers can feel some amount of pride when travelling because carinbean airlines which is suppose to represent the Caribbean; when on board you don't truly get that feeling
Bcuz they feel that they are better than Jamaicans
Petty.
I like the channel. Didn't know there where aviation enthusiasts like myself.
They are in the thousands if not possibly in the millions worldwide
Didn’t know there were any in Jamaica 🇯🇲
Very nice plane hopefully they will have more of them in there fleet.
Their
They ordered about 12 total
*NOICE!!!*
Nice video. The 737 max looks like a narrow and slightly shorter version of the 787.
Awesome footage!!! I’m happy you were able to make it.
nice to see some others doing spotting as well :)
@@skbenergy Absolutely true!!!
Nice catch with the water arch too. 👍
have not seen your channel in a while....hope all is well for the new year :) !!!
@@skbenergy that's kind of you, thank you, all us ok. Best wishes to you as well.
I will miss the classic cfm56-7b when those are phased out!
Those CFM56 really were good engines, but I guess they done their time, as they been around for almost forty years. The CFM LEAP 1B engines are more fuel efficient and quieter than the older engines, due to newer technology. The only draw back with the 1B engines I found so far, are the startup process when they are hot, where they got to go through the Bowed rotor motoring (BRM) which takes about 1.5 minutes to 2 minutes, before you could put in the ignitor (gas), due to the N1, and N2 shaft Bowed, which need to be straightened out prior too.
@@jamesy29 I hope Boeing fixed the software on those 737-Max8.
@@dartvader4081 yes. The software has been fixed and the 737-8 MAX had went through rigorous certification, before they were released to fly again. I haven't heard of anymore issues with the software and so far all is going well with those planes
Where is the marching band😂👍👏👏👏👏
Hope flying Barbados
That same plane landed in guyana in feburary
It's a nice a nice plane but how much is the fare on that plane to go to Jamaica relate be a ham leg cat and a cow
Air Jamaica is best matter what they show us madness
I agree 👍
They need to start go Montego bay now I tired of goin Kingston
Did we get our plane back? Please tell me yes
Does Caribbean airline still take cargo to Barbados?
Caribbean Airlines Boeing 737 Max 8's will be replacing there Older Boeing 737-800NG's hopefully by the end of 2022 Awesome Video Man!!!!
I study aircrafts I won't be tricked to fly on that
Isnt this 737 that fall off the sky in Ethiopia and was grounded for a while ? why the Caribbean buys these airline
These aircrafts will be flying for a very long time and if you travel, then you're very much likely to fly on one in the future.
Need Air Jamaica 🇯🇲 😩 😫
Yes, I miss those days 😢
I don’t get the purpose or the hype. This was a shitty built computer system on this aircraft now they’ve fixed it. Hopefully 🙏🏾
So scared of these models. I mean anything can happen regardless of planes, but the history for the max 8 isn’t that good. Also, should there be another accident with this model, what would CAL do? A lot of people have already lost so much confidence in the max 8.
The FAA has cleared them for use
@@christopherredhead4182 didn't it certify them for use the last time?
Don’t call it a Max, you severely affect business 😂😂
Can the plane look more BORING?!
And this airline bought Max 8's without doing due diligence re safety? Asking for a friend.
bro, boeng did modifications on the malfunctioning soft wear and two new sensors were placed on the air craft with rigorous pilot training, and after being that was completed the FAA reinstated the 737 max 8 lifting the grounding of this series.
not to mention that PM keith rowley was adamant never to use the max 8 until modifications were done and he was satisfied with the outcome. so yes they did due diligence and very carful conscientious planning which went into acquiring the fleet.
Negative space for an already abstract logo doesn't do the full livery, nor the logo justice. The full hummingbird logo is beautiful, and should be displayed fully on the aircraft. At least it will be easy to repaint the planes! #yetanotherliveryboeingblunder
Shut it
@@jamelfergusson completely missed opportunity. If you didn't know it was a hummingbird, it sadly looks like paint splotches and streaks. The full new hummingbird logo IS BEAUTIFUL, but the way it was treated on the aircraft is sadly lacking.
@@rikkus67 nothing is wrong with the logo it is perfectly fitted and looks amazing
Planes do not just fall out of the sky by the way. I hardly doubt they would purchase planes that were not re-engineered. Stop being so stupidly negative.
i hope no one died
Air Jamaica repainted and relaunched.
You hit the nail on the head, hurts my heart to know Air Jamaica isnt here anymore...if I had the capital I'd buy it back from CAL and do a new livery and relaunch with the old crew.
Not feeling this livery at all.
I do not see anything to brag about!!!!
Who's bragging!?
Who's bragging!?
Big deal, who cares, they didn't think it was important to Jamaican to keep the planes painted in air Jamaica color's they will never see my money
So of u buy a car and the previous owner name name painted on it u will keep it or change it?
Lol poor bitter you.. very familiar, even T&T never called our airline Trinidad Airways etc, we were always about the entire Caribbean/ WI etc, which is bigger than any one island, those petty things don't pay the bills and procure billions worth of new aircraft, it's about the whole caribbean thank you, it is the airline of the Caribbean, and the national carrier for many .
But we've always known about Jamaican divisiveness and false sense of superiority and entitlement, that's why such TRIVIAL things would offend , if you feel so strongly about it, form a new airline and call it 'Fly Jamaica' or suttn...
Should I go under my mumma now, or suck har ? Lol..
What is so exciting about being 737 max, Airbus is better than that Everytime. So many accidents with this foolish airline.
Horrible colors
The only reason Caribbean airlines got that janky-ass max jet ... two words ""cheap cheap""
i not flying on that period
bro these planes were ordered way back in 2018 before the accidents occurred, but they held off until the proper modifications were done. if you don't want to fly them then that's your call, but so you know, it wasn't because it was a cheap deal, since they already placed an order 3 years ago.
Absolutely beautiful
THIS AIRLINE IS A JOKE!! THEY HAVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CANCELLATIONS IS FREQUENT WITH NO ACCOUNTABILITY!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!
Lies them is the best
I hope their use of grammar is better than yours.
@@65NART who you talking too🤔
This Livery is NOT it 😩
Just awful
I disagree
Agree
Flawed design. I will never fly this plane.
