This isn't "Djembe Rhythms", although there's a Djembe drum in the ensemble. I appreciate the appreciation but please make an effort to learn the culture before broadcasting thw wrong information to the world. People in developing countries don't have as much access as you, to tell their own truth, that's why there's such a history of chronic misrepresentation. I know someone is probably going to say "chill out and enjoy"! I am! But I'm not enjoying the misrepresentation.... just saying!
Noted bro, your critique is well noted, and thanks for the education, no hard feelings. misrepresentation is the last thing we will want to promote. I am actually reading from this website: afrodrumming.com/djembe-rhythms/ , and trying to created the rhythms and slaps suggested on in the exercises using Logic Pro. The rhythms from the individual drums in this video sound similar to the rhythms I created. Nonetheless, I will research on it as suggested. thanks for the feedback
This is Kpanlogo from the Ga people of Ghana, as "defined" by the bell and supporting part played on the kpanlogo drum in the video. The phrase begins after the 3rd strike of the "Kpanlogo bell" aka son clave' or "Summertime Blues beat". The drum says (phonetically) "Kway-ohbanyo-telleh", meaning "Look, can you handle it?" (the men asking the women if they can carry the drum). Djembe has been added to this ensemble just as it has been added to numerous other ensembles throughout the world, but, yes, this is not djembe music. It's Kpanlogo all the way! Thank you for posting.
That said, my Ghanaian master drummer always played lead on djembe when we performed this dance, and we always played support on congas ;) It's all good.
Much appreciated for the education. Thanks a lot !
