Well folks, we're back at it again! Nickelodeon has continued its terrible-illustrations-of-characters-badly-drawn-in-poor-approximations-of-other-artstyles journey, so we have continued our fixing-terrible-illustrations-of-characters-badly-drawn-in-poor-approximations-of-other-artstyles journey! This time it's Appa from Avatar (the bald kid one, not the buff smurf one) at the center of this aesthetic maelstrom. Can we fix them all!?!? Tune in to find out!!!!!!!

it is tempting, though. I have to admit, when I've done style swaps it's been "hey that character would look good in (outfit item that is common in that other show)"

Or basically, taking a character, then awkwardly contorting and mishapening them to match the shape of another.

The whole point of Mandy's design is that she is a little girl in a pink dress and cute shoes, but her hair betrays her disguise as the devil horns that show her true self.

The og is pretty ok and a master pieece comapred almost any other thing they bringed before. But I forgot that ovbiou details for a seond. But also now that I think it it honestly hear like a potntial scoody-doo idea.

I really love the SpongeBob one because they didn't even try, they just gave him sponge bobs texture basically. They could've made him like a seal or something, but no, they carved sponge bob into his shape.

This guys a genuine savant, animated intro, animated ad, gangnam style parody that also functions as a cel filter tutorial. This is the antithesis of cutting corners, he even did a really convincing photoshop for the Transformers section.

The Transformers Appa redesign is so cool! Not only is it just a nifty character on its own, the design of the appa-themed chest plate is so incredibly clever.

Social media is inherently worthless. there are no sales, there's no profiting from it, and everyone who uses it is a drooling moron with political beliefs that would make Karl Marx go "Hey hang on, slow down a bit." They're right not to put any work into it.
Now that said, if they wanted to put work into it and then put it up on a WEBSITE, or as a promo on their show or something, or even sell 3-ring binders and folders with those images, that would be valid.

@@KairuHakubi On the contrary; I'd say social media has the same inherent value as any other marketing forum - such as Fortnite crossovers (to bring it back to games, of which this specific deal the original franchise holder gets very little direct money from). The more eyes on it, the more they sell on streaming/DVDs/merchandise.
Coca-Cola is a household name, so why do they keep running commercials and ads? It's because they have an impact, even this many years into their widespread adoption - even though the ad itself doesn't directly gain any money.

Yep. At first glance transformers didn’t look half bad but then I dug out that car out of curiosity and it’s nearly entirely spot on. They couldn’t even go the obvious direction of a beast wars appa transformer.
My guess is, these style swap posts are made by interns who are still in art school, not by working professionals. That's why they demonstrate a poor understanding of style, and of art in general.

Henry Gold is the peak definition of “quality over quantity.” Every video just has so much effort put into it, the fact that you managed to put a fully animated intro, multiple drawings made for 1 second gags, and a whole Gangnam Style parody in ONE VIDEO is incredible. Harry Gold Show is one of the highest quality pieces of CZcams programming I have conceived. Obviously there’s the great art, but the editing, scripts and comedy make it so entertaining.

Why of course, this time's caricature is Harry Gold's Cousin, Asmon Gold. Similarities between them include, never leaving their desks and their rooms being large messes. In Harry's case, thats because he sits 24/7 fixing Art Style Swaps and making so many Sonic OCs has filled his room to the brim with discared personality sheets, and with Asmondgold's case... thats because he is a gamer.
I think it's him too. The only other person I can think of is Moistcritical/Charlie/Pinguinz0, but Asmond was my first thought too.
You should've made Appa in the SquarePants style an oversized tardigrade, that would've made sense for the aquatic theme of the show!

I appreciate that Nickelodeon acknowledged Transformers Earthspark (it's a fantastic show, after all), but not only is it such a poor choice for these art style posts, having an instance of a CGI show amidst a bunch of 2D shows, but the drawing itself makes it seem as if it came from Blaze and The Monster Machines. It's just the uncreatively-conceived alternate mode.
The truly dire part of the stupid Appa Truck is that animal-shaped alt-modes are A Thing already. Including *in this particular show*!
The amount of effort that goes into each one of your videos is astounding. An animated intro and sponsor? A song parody that made me laugh many times? And a high quality Transformer Appa? Truly a peak quality over quantity channel.
The facial hair and the long hair of the caricature makes me think of Charles Christopher White Jr. (Moist Critikal). So that's my guess.

would love to see you style swap some shows with notoriously bad art styles. most popular example is probably big mouth, so maybe but them in some more appealing styles or put other characters into theirs. but ofc any show with a "bad art style" could work, pick your poison
8:40 as someone whos been a sonic fan for years (im sorry) with all due respect to them i dont think anyone making that argument really knows what theyre talking about? official art of modern sonic characters, though varied, usually follows the same character design principles no matter what species they are. the most deviation from the norm ive seen is in the comics and box art, two styles that arent really comparable to The Style That Sonic Characters Tend To Get Drawn In. the designs you make in that series are undeniably unique enough to be better style swaps than anything comparable the cartoon big 3 have put out for ages while still being recognizable as replications of the sonic style. seems like a bad faith jab to me idk gang
Honestly, I'm surprised TDI Mandy wasn't given the Total Dramarama treatment.
If Transformers Earthspark comes up again in one of these, I recommend looking at Nick Roche's art! He was the art director of the series and he wrote + illustrated in many of the Transformers comics published by IDW! Still wouldn't capture the exact 3D animated style of the show, but it would be another interesting style to tackle!

yeah, seconding, was about to say the same thing about Earthspark, Roche's style was definitely an influence on the character outcomes. there is also 2d concept art, though not cartoony, of the show's characters, not sure what artists but I know I've at least seen some of Thrash. and i would say the humans at least do have their own defined stylizations to them, rather than being generic, compared to other 3d designs, while the animals and such are generic.
This is absolutely some of the best content on CZcams. Honestly has so much charm!

The sheer quality of your work is always astounding. The fact you have a full song parody that doubles as a legitimate tutorial and then you still have a full pseudo-3D (with a bonus 2D version!!) of a mech design after that is just absurd.

My husband and I watched this, and we are just in LOVE with the new designs! Like, they actually look authentically from the shows! Nickelodeon needs to hire YOU for their social media art posts (and pay you what you're actually worth, not their usual paltry amount). My husband's favourite is the TMNT Appa (which freaking rocks), and my favourite is...well...pretty much all of the Appa ones. I grew up with a lot of Nickelodeon shows, so seeing the styles done so well just made me so happy!
