- In this weeks video I finally get round to pitching and looking at my new Robens Pioneer 2ex tent. This is going to be my go to shelter for the year ahead, it’s still to be tested in a nights camp but I’m pretty impressed at what I’ve seen so far.

Bought the blue one and tried it for the first time yesterday in the Peak District. It was really blustery and stood up well. Really easy to pitch. I bought a generic groundsheet off Amazon to protect under the sleeping compartment. I want to get the footprint for the porch but it's out of stock everywhere. I pitched it with the sleeping compartment already attached and that's how I took it down too.

I've been looking at the Pioneer 2EX for a while, as a future hiking tent for me and my partner, but I've never seen a video that shows off the real size of it, and in the "measurement pictures" it looks a little bit cramped. But now I'm sold on it, it's a great feature that you can also (almost) sit up straight at the back of it aswell! Width wise, it looks perfectly okay for 2 people as well. It was also great to see the confirmation of 2 lantern loops, since that means one could string up a washing line as well.

Hi, thank you for watching and commenting. Yes I’m really excited to get out camping in it, it is a great size and definitely capable of sleeping two. I personally would recommend it for hiking if you are looking for that extra space. 👍
@@GeoffGreenawayOutdoors That sounds immensly promising! That vestibule looks enormous, and the fact Robens sell ground sheets that covers the vestibule is just great. It also has an impressive weight for such a big tent, compared to similar style tents in that price range!

@@fiskmasadventures it was the vestibule that sold it for me, especially after a long day hiking it means you have somewhere to cook and relax in whatever weather and like you say you can pick up a ground sheet from Robens. I just want to get going now and get camping ⛺️. I hope you enjoy the tent 👍
@@GeoffGreenawayOutdoors I completely agree, especially if you're 2, all the big gear can be stored in the vestibule and you keep the neccessary sleeping systems dry inside, separated. It sounds great, have fun out there!

@@BestlifeWildCampingBushcraft cheers for watching, yea toying about with the intro to be honest. The couple of downsides to the tent is the weight and the hydrostatic head but I think I’ll be grand with it. I looking forward to doing some cooking in the porch.

Hi, I’ve never done a bike camp, I couldn’t say for definite. It is a great tent but it doesn’t pack down too small and I’d say you’d be needing it to pack down small. Honest thought I would go for something smaller. I hope this helps 👍
