    1) Forgetting who we are, in other words, forgetting our Primordial Source is "original avidya";
    2) Identifying with the body and the mind as I Am, is "derived avidya";
    3) Perceiving academically that we are not the body and the mind is, "apara vidya";
    4) Directly experiencing our disassociation from the body and the mind as "I Am NOT", is "para vidya";
    5) Firmly establishing oneself in the Supreme Truth as "I AM" is beyond avidya, apara vidya and para vidya.

      @@spiritualseeker. [1] Direct experience of the anātma [antahkaraṇa] as "I Am NOT" is quite different from [2] the Direct Experience of the SELF [the Absolute Truth] as "I Am", the Ātma. Mahātmās say that the first one is the prerequisite which helps us to transcend the bondage of mind and matter for Ultimate Realization of the SELF.
