Hi Everyone - excited to be doing another Layout series! Leave a comment below on anything OTHER than my tiny house design - As I'm sure you know, I'm more of a SketchUp trainer than a house designer ;p
crystal clear tutorial.
Hello there!
I downloaded the sketchup on the ipad, and honestly I'm just growing crazy trying to navigate through it, could you make a tutorial
specially how to do the section plane on the ios/android version with download models ( houses/buildings) to get good inside view and control
thank you
Yeah the edit option for the subscription want showing because I cancelled the subscription. But that doesn't cable the service for that month. I undid the service cancellation and the edit button appeared. Then I was able to cable the service for that month. Tech support said there was a big in shop. I upgraded to pro
I feel like at university learning how to use photoshop which was such a great creative experience!!
I love these videos. I have been doing sketchup for a couple of years and you have shown me new and faster ways of doing a lot of things. you videos are easy to follow. thank you for the lessons.
Love this video series Justin. Slow, comfortable pace - there's always something new to learn from you.
Thank you for this!! I am new on SketchUp (just started yesterday) and even though it was a real pain at first, I was able to figure it out and do exactly what you were doing,
Sketch, your page is such an inspiration! I used to post a lot of how to videos on my page before I went deaf. Because of creators like you i recently decided to start uploading content again even though my audio may not be up to par like it used to be. Just like you I love to teach people new things! Thank you!
Do it! If you have something to offer, as long as you communicate clearly and provide useful information, I think people will like it even if the audio isn't perfect. Plus, if you can figure out a system to create audio that works, it gets a lot easier! :)
Thank you so much for this video.
Creating doors and windows this way is fast and easy.
I will keep watching your videos for more great SketchUp tips
Thank you so much for your help, Justin. You're such a great teacher and you really are helping me a lot.
Thanks - glad it's helping!
Killing it thank you.
That's gold! I wish you lots of success
Hi this is really great I have been struggling! Only thing is that when I push pulled the door, it didn't disappear - and when I deleted the material, it deleted the inside wall. What am I doing wrong? Many thanks
I'm a new user of this software. After watching your videos these past days. I've learn a lot of things. Thank you Sir more videos please!
Glad to hear that!
Thank you. Your tutorial video really help me lot... Keep up the good work.
Thanks man. Really helpful
this is really good for sketchup 2021 too, only difference is layers are now called tag. I had to pause and rewind and watch carefully to other factors you didn't mention a couple times (like when extruding the door disengage from the exterior wall group) but i figured it all out, thank you!
Justin, I've been self teaching SU since January and just found these which are a nice way to progress through a project with a quick video. I'm using it for one of my classes for school and I'm determined to be able to create CDs out of them instead of reworking the whole thing again in Revit. Thank you, and hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to do RCPs and electrical plans...
Hi Holly - as long as you set your model up with the grouping and the layers, it really shouldn't be that difficult to create the RCP or the electrical - just group them, model them in place, and make sure to put them on their own layers - then it's just a question of setting up a camera view that shows what you want for Layout. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much Justin Geis. Your Videos help me a lots. Thank you!
Thanks - glad you liked it!
Awesome. By far the best tutorials out there my man.
Thanks very much - glad you're liking them! :)
@@Thesketchupessentials at 1:55 how can I input the dimension of the offset? thank you in advanceeee
Enjoying your video tutorial! Thanks
Glad you liked it! :)
What a great video, THANK YOU! I don't understand how people are clicking thumbs down.
Lol - that's ok - they can have an opinion too :)
This vid really helps for us starters of the app. 🙌
thank you for this amazing video
Thanks for watching!
Great tutorial on how to use Sketchup to make floor plans and walls.
Thank you :)
alwayls love this guy teaching.. I am an Islander
👍
Thank you so much! That was very good lesson to get start
Glad you liked it!
Your videos are awesome. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
PRETTY NEAT VIDEO
WoW...I owe you a beer dude.
Lol - glad it helped!
Your video r very helpful .....Thanks Brow Love you.
Glad you liked it!
great of you!
Hello Justin. I'm a subscriber to your channel, Congratulations! I would like to know if you can export DWG file (Autocad) from SketchUp Layout in the correct way. Whenever I export, some texts and quotas are wrong or off-scale when I open the file in Autocad. I do the Project detailing in SketchUp Layout, however, I can not export to DWG without having text or quota issues ... Could you help? Thank you my friend.
This is a great tut - is there any way I can still get the software version for free as a student? I'm working with the online version and they don't allow for layering / renaming, etc.
Hi Justin, great tutorial, when you copied the lines for the wall, how do you add it to the group ?
Great video
Thank you! :)
i think i wanna learn this. it looks exciting.
It's good times :)
Great video!!! Just getting in to SU. One of the main things I've learned here is make sure you're still within the group you're working on. Several times I was trying to push pull and the cursor had a strikeout next to it. The problem was that I accidentally clicked out of the group!!!
Great point!
merci beaucoup !!!
Hello, I am a big fan of your work and I learned alot I even click like before I see the videos for support. P.S: I used when I make layers I put numbers so that they get arranged whatever their name is and help me to identify my layers among any other layers added when I download models.
Nice - I like it - anything to keep those layers organized! :)
Hi Justin, this is Shridevi , your video's are wonderfull, I am a big fan of your work and I still learning, I have installed 2019 1 month trial version, in that I left side of the system we see materials, shadows, Scenes, layers, but last one outliner not getting , please tell me how to add that, thank you very much for your video's
Question here: I modeled the exterior walls exactly like you did, but I erased that interior face, before starting to draw the lines for the interior walls, because I prefer to draw the floor below all the walls, not "inside" them. When I push/pulled the walls upwards, looking it from below I noticed they were all missing a face. Could it be related to the way I did it?
Anyway, great video, great channel, great guy
Very nice video and well explained but only issue I have is when cutting the whole for the door till back wall, does not make a whole? Any sugesstions?
thanks a lot , you are a great teacher 👍
Thank you! 😃
@@Thesketchupessentials you're welcome :)
WOW. TNANK YOU. SO HELPFUL
You're welcome!
thanks a lot ................ all versions can show the tickmark but this 2019 pro not show the behind tick mark
layers-outliner-entity info
thank you so much because its Very helpfull
You're welcome!
is same with 2017 version..?
Hello sir, I have a question to you about the layout that when i put the scene in to the layout its ok but when i put some other scene the previous scene will be change................ how can i solved this problem
Hey Justin, I love your videos, I only struggle with one thing. I am based in Europe and already watched your video about how to change the units to architectural and 1 /16 inches. But every time I do the offset for the walls my 3 5/8 looks way different than yours and I have very thick walls. I don't know what to do and I would love to resolve this problem to continue the classes. Maybe you got an idea..
I cannot create the group for the Interior Wall since it is inside the Group Floor, how can I do this please? Thanks.
What rules/standards/specification lists are you relying upon to determine the thickness of exterior and interior walls, window cutouts, door cutouts...etc...? Just rough eyeballing? Or do you have an inventory of standard architectural specifications from somewhere?
For these tutorials, it really doesn't matter - using the steps shown in the video, you should be able to create walls/doors/etc to whatever standard you use. The point of the Layout tutorials is to give a workflow that can be followed for anyone, so the specific dimensions in this example model shouldn't matter
Hellou, is okay to learn 2019 sktchup while im working in 2021? Cuz i alredy can see some differences
One question I haven't heard the answer yet: Will a Sketchup Pro 19 license work on BOTH iMac and PC? I have a desktop of one and a laptop of another, and I would use both machines for this.
Hmmm...should work on Mac or PC - I believe you can use the code on multiple PC's, but I can't remember for sure
TheSketchUpEssentials . Yes you can use the same code on both the Mac and PC
please write me which pc is good for sketchup, thank you for your effort
Great tutorials, just curious, you mention ' reverse the faces' what's that about?? Why exactly?, Thanks so much!
This should help - czcams.com/video/Y3kJlaXiNcA/video.html
you are awesome
:)
Nice. Should I hope to see u making this model available for download?
Model downloads are available to my Patreon supporters that support at $3/month or more - thanks!
Also what Extension/s can you suggest to us ? :D
For what application? Floor Plans?
I have a question 👋 and I love the content you make ! Can I use sketch up to layout a ham radio go box 🤦🏻♂️ sry I'm a newbie but would love to learn to use this application on many other projects that hanks in advance
Should be able to
I draw things like that all the time.
Can you explain why you Invert the faces?
In general it's a good idea to have the front side of faces facing the camera when possible - otherwise it can cause issues with rendering programs and occasionally other things as well - czcams.com/video/Y3kJlaXiNcA/video.html - Thanks!
When I try pulling the walls up, it pulls up the boxes I made for doors and windows too. I don't know what I'm doing wrong
I'm following how you do it. Why I can't push/pull a grouped face? Thanks
That's the way it's supposed to work - to push pull a face, you have to be inside its group so you can directly affect the face - this keeps all the edges and faces in SketchUp from just merging
How in the world did you draw that rectangle to bridge the bathroom door gap? 14:55. No matter what I do it doesn't draw correctly. I select the rectangle tool, click one endpoint (outercorner), click the endpoint across the gap (other outer corner), then start moving perpendicular towards the other endpoint (inner corner). It looks like its going well until I reach the endpoint. At that point it draws a skinny rectangle diagonally from an outer corner to an inner corner.
Never mind... It really was as simple as drawing it. One of my bathroom walls was not flush with the exterior walls. Caused the rectangle to draw incorrectly.
how did you copy the interior walls?
How can I put dimension ???
what is the difference between sketchup 2018 and 2019?
Lol - that's a subject of much debate (czcams.com/video/izKoxSyDZco/video.html&lc=Ugx6WUtZ63tsZkmrTQt4AaABAg) - In this case, the only significant difference is going to be if we use the new dashed lines function or not - otherwise this workflow will work pretty much exactly the same as 2018...
Hello how can i contact u??
U have used push/pull command in this layout after making layout ...u have divided the layouts in group and then used the push/pull command. How did it work for u?
You have to double click inside the group so you can access the raw face. If you're outside the group it won't work
@@Thesketchupessentials oh that's y I cudnt make it work......got it now.....thank you so much for clearing...
Somehow, one of my wall faces got divided into a few different faces. No lines between them, but when I hover it doesn't highlight the whole face that it seems like it should. And when I try to PP, it wont let me go all the way through. Is there a way to join faces?
You should be able to see that geometry by going into "View," "Hidden Geometry." You could try erasing that hidden geometry, but you might have to re-draw the face in
So there isn't a way to combine the 2 faces? It does appear to be 2 faces when viewing the hidden geometry.
sir, how to make solid wall in sketchup
When the faces didn't heal before extruding the walls to 8', how were you able to delete it?
Can you give me a specific time in the video you're looking at?
11:15
Sir can you please don't use shortcut keys! Cause it's to hard to know how did you do that thing.
Sorry for bad english 🙂
7:52 How did you erased the small lines without erasing the whole walls?
Try double click many many time till u can select only that lines
الله یهدیک الی اصح الطریق .
The video educational wise is laid out well. You skip minor things, like when you selected reverse . The program is so complex even when following frame by frame sever errors are still made by the follower. It’s very time consuming to realize what is any errors can be fixed. But still
I try ha
Here you go - czcams.com/video/Y3kJlaXiNcA/video.html
I don't know... ever since my trial version ran out, sketchup keeps sending me to it's browser app and I've spent hours trying to figure out why it's telling me to upgrade every time I try to use the Outliner. I' purchased 'Shop' version and it still says I need to upgrade. Now when I go to cancel my subscription to get a refund, the 'Edit Plan' button isn't there on the Plans section. I tried to edit my Trible account to see if I could find any clues in there, but my Sketchup login doesn't work. I don't recall ever getting a Trimble login though. Noe Trimble locked me out and I can't log in to use Sketchup. In order to send a tech support email I need my license it said is in my purchase email. Nope.. it only shows my order number.... Sketchup is really disappointing me lately.
Sorry - sounds like an issue for Trimble support - did you try emailing with your order number?
sir why it is so hard to copy and move ?
What happened to part 2?
Still coming - I had to do some traveling this week so my video schedule was thrown off
I mean I want a cube 1mx1mx1m and I want exact dimensioning +/- 0,5mm
You may want to start here - czcams.com/video/BZ-uPJLxav0/video.html
Is this for real.
16 minutes of SU basics from 2009 could have covered this.
How had this video anything to do with SketchUp 2019 or layout with 2019 ?
Would you prefer I labeled it "SketchUp for Layout 2009?" The workflow for getting drawings into Layout is going to be similar across versions, in the same way that if you drew a building in AutoCad 2009 or 2018 the workflow would be similar. I'm not sure what exactly you're looking for...
This was a pretty basic video to prepare for a Layout video. You could have started with a pre modeled piece and explained just the importance of layers and using the outliner....
HI can you make me a house can i send you what i draw :)..
I am Architect, I do it daily. Send me your rough sketch at mrhammad2000@gmail.com. I'll guide you thoroughly that how it will be done.
This is sketchup not layout. wassup with that? Iʻm totally a new to this and it is throwing me off.
9mins of talking I see no wall pulled up .
I didn't realize I had to work on your timeline. Obviously I should skip the really important stuff that's required for a model to work well with Layout just so you can see some walls pulled up. Not just a modeling video...
After watching your partially unexplained commands I figured out how to make the additional walls of the Walls - Interior part of that same group, but after that you just lose me. You need to do a better job of explaining what you're doing as you're doing it.
Once again - if you're not understanding things like groups and components, you probably need to start with a beginner tutorial - czcams.com/video/UEcyuvQyVm0/video.html
What a heck are you copying BUCKY ROBERTS no way you're ain't a programmer bro. are you?
...What?
You go way too quick and you don't show were the tools are located. Not helpful at all.
I personally feel that he's going at a pretty slow and decent pace, but if you don't know what tools he's using you can just pause the video, look at the toolbar and see which one is highlighted, and look at the corresponding symbol on your computer.
Sorry to hear that - that being said, I get complaints both that I'm going too slow and covering too much detail, as well as too fast. If you're not sure about some of the tools, you might want to start with more of a beginner tutorial - czcams.com/video/BZ-uPJLxav0/video.html
This whole video could be one minute long
Too much talking
You might want to try a different channel then...
If he spent half as much time explaining the steps and why/how hes doing them ad he does shamelessly plug his website this video would be halfway watchable. Do better buddy
Lol - I made a 9 video series explaining all the steps - hopefully you can find what you're looking for somewhere else
