I went for confession last week & spoke about the lack of manifesting joy in my life . I asked Jesus to show me examples of what this spirit - filled expression of Divine love meant . Little did I know - that Jesus ( God ) would lead me to this unusual talk by Dr Mary Healy . God is truly merciful !! The prodigal son story took on another meaning even though I have got so many other meanings from it over the years . The older son & the father talking - " all that I have is yours ." For me - that sums up "joy"Imagine God saying to me - All of creation is yours - the water , the sun , the moon , the stars, the food life , the sea , even all of humanity ie 7 Billion people are yours . It is unfathomable to explain how much God loves human beings . Why do we walk around everyday with head & body bent , the weight of the world on our shoulders ( when we cannot look after our own little corner ) Mary Healy has expanded on understanding " community" - the problem with Church Community is there are too many cliques like in a school yard . The church community does not value the Parish Priest - there is no family bond - such as sending him a portion of the family sunday lunch. Finding out when his birthday is & making a special meal for him on that day . One year - I thought I would give my Parish priest a small gift of socks & winter scarf for Fathers' Day with a spirit - filled card . The Priest told me no one had ever done this before . The priest was 74 years old . The laity - men & women must take care of our priests . The men should take a leading role & the women should add the priest as an extra member of the family - not just inviting but delivery of home cooked meals on occasion . It is in the small gestures - that God multiplies & notices & smiles from Heaven . Thank you Mary ( I am sure Our Blessed Mother inspired you for this talk ) for expounding the meaning of " Joy ". Amen. Fiat ( May your Divine Will be done ) InPraise !!
