Fabolous racing as usual! You are lucky to have such a tight field to fight! Very impressed by driving & handling - if i was in the UK i'd tak you to a pub and fuel you up until I knew all your setup & driving tricks :) keep the excellent vids coming!
Both Imps sounded sweet Andy. I bought Poppy from Ron back in 2009 and rebuilt to rally spec, but never got to turn a wheel in anger :( Are you still racing ??
andy i run a ginetta in the u s a, it had a so called c r box ,that dropped 2k between 3/4 gears,i noticed that you must have a dog box , which is what im building now , but im try to figure out the top gear as we have never had any data to go by , i see you use 9k to shift what do you pull in top oulton does have much straight , say snett for instance , if you dont want to post this info i understand
'Kin ell fire - I thought you were never gonna get past that other imp!! ;-) I love imps - but I reckon they're best at rally - don't seem to have the straight line speed for track racing.
Great...bit stupid the start...why tangle with the red imp...equally why tangle...these are becoming rare cars. But it is great to see them racing still... Great video...👍👍👍👏
Some silly driving cutting onto the grass at the start and more patience would of allowed you to attack more on the straights but good vid all the same : )
@@thehillmanator and on a three bearing main crank. i never owned an imp. although there were a few in my neighborhood here on the other side of the pond. i recall seeing one with a flat tire and the frame was so stiff that when the owner jacked up the left rear corner the front left wheel was off the ground as well. it was a cool little car for a teenager. my friends had an austin a40 and a ford anglia, so i'm sort of familiar with brit econo boxes. thanks for the vid.
I'm only 11 yrs late but that's awesome. Love the engine sound.
Interesting it was the souls that first attracted me similar age to yourself!
sound not soul
what a launch and what a race!!!!
Love the direction change technique at the slow chicane.
Great vid,and great final pass on the other Imp.
The most hectic 65 mph I've ever seen! 65 in all gears and on all surfaces!
@minimr2 Thanks, yes ended up 3rd behind 2 lotus cortina's, was my first time ever on the podium ! roll on 2012

Awesome. Gripping the keyboard as though I'm driving !
Is this guy an off-roader? Great sounding engine.
better than f1 !!
Watching my mother play video games is better than F1
That's not to say that this video isn't excellent though, I think I was there that day!!
The Imp!!
Hillman Imps! I thought they were extinct! What engine have you got in this?
kin brillz ...😎
I don't know if anyone has told you but, there is far more grip on the black than on the green.
brilliant those two imps were in a dog fight.
Cracking
Damn, go little car go.
Watching that crack grow was kinda hypnotic !
0:48 cracked windscreen
Do u know lee shorthouse ?? He just joined the imp club
No radio?
I KNOW its real, but it blurs the lines between real and sim..... GREAT GRAPHICS!
0.49 wrong line has cost a windscreen
Brilliant little dog fight with the blue car there! Although i have say.. you seem a little impatient trying to pass him on corners?
Massive Kudos :)
ha ha not at all he is my pal,he hadnt seen me, none of these lads do intentional moveovers we are all gentleman!
Far better than F1
Nice vid... novice in front had quite a quick car though !!! bugger,....
Hillman Imp or Sunbeam Chamois = my first car in life !
Singer Chamois. Sunbeam Stiletto ;-)
window breaks at 0.49
@AquariousRS i am who are you ?
I had a Hillman Imp in the early 80s. It could only do 50 m.p.h. tops. LOL
must have been something wrong with it , 80+ was the norm
Evidence, not that it's needed for those of us who race, that track times mean nothing when it comes to racing enjoyment.

Nobody blips on down changes anymore ... weird, poor engines and driving wheels.
Looks like a heck of a lot of fun though
poor mans porche my dad had two ........ we were poor ....... but happy.
Think I saw nearly 10,000rpm at one point near the beginning - all from a 1950's design of engine.
1950's?
yes Coventry climax F1 engineering ..
'Kin ell fire - I thought you were never gonna get past that other imp!! ;-) I love imps - but I reckon they're best at rally - don't seem to have the straight line speed for track racing.
Theres some bad drivers in this vid!
Great...bit stupid the start...why tangle with the red imp...equally why tangle...these are becoming rare cars. But it is great to see them racing still... Great video...👍👍👍👏
far too slow 4 me! Also it songs like a ruddy lawnmower ! Gads Zuk !
Some silly driving cutting onto the grass at the start and more patience would of allowed you to attack more on the straights but good vid all the same : )
The dude in the red & white Imp should've been blacked flagged!
Terrible race driving!
9000 RMP‼ yikes
9000 is tame compared to what the racers used in period ! 👍
