With all due respect to the indigenous ways, many of us in the diaspora, 2nd gen Filipinos are trying to find the true meaning of being a Filipino, Ilocanos or whatever your tribe may be. I am full blood Filipino but I grew up in another country. Despite having grown up in a Filipino household I experienced the feeling of being treated like a foreigner to my own culture. My mum stopped teaching me (tagalog) in order to learn english and be apart of the culture of the country I live in. But as I got older and connected with Filo friends, I realized how much I wanted to embrace my native tongue. The worst thing I’ve ever heard my mum say to me in a heated argument was “You don’t understand my culture”. Tbh, that shit hurt, because her culture is my culture you know?
That’s really sad, hope you and your mom can agree on that matter someday. Meanwhile be proud and happy that you have the blood of a warrior! Filipinos are known to be hospitable and welcoming but never cross the line if you are not determined to fight against them until the end. 😊
Those traditional designs of tattoos are tatts of Cordillera Region of the Philippines, rare design bec only headhunters are inked specifically in Kalinga area.

@@brentragucos I take that as an insult personally cause my culture did that only to protect our tribes and families ,headhunters were warriors to protect the community we don’t go on killing sprees and may I remind you humans evolve.......
Well, youre not wrong but pintados (tribe people from visayas) had full body tattoos including chest when the spaniards first arrived in the visayan islands.

Really emotional and beautiful story
We Filipino American are all proud of our roots and we are not ashamed of it!!!!!!
Those tattoos aren't apart of yo roots tho, you just ripped that shii off my people the Polynesians smh 🤦
They are just proud for the culture because they never experienced the culture and they feel so hungry about it. Philippine culture are so huge, involved a lot of ethnicity from different cultures
Pinoy power, Pinoy Pride! Tonay nang Filipino!🇵🇭
Maraming salamat po ❤
I was born in the Philippines and race here in the US. My mom as a single parent. But I never knew about the true culture of the Philippines. But because Spain and Americans came in the Philippines we forget the true culture of the Philippines. And mostly Philippines are mix bowl. Even the actors are half Filipino and half something. My dad side of the family. Are Spaniards and my mom side is from pampanga. ( hope I spell it right) lol. I didn’t know that we have our own letters too. Beside different dialects. Because now a days parents just forget to teach their kids.
Mabuhay kababayan, thank you for this great video kapatid.🇵🇭🇺🇸
With that being said, I think all Filipinos are warriors. Tandaan natin na ang mga Kastila, Hapon, at Amerikano ay kinanalaban natin, at sa wakas tayo ay nagwagi.🙏
Tinalo tayo ng Hapon at Amerikano. Spanya lang natalo natin.
A father who never be with his son/daughter is a painful torture said but it's truth.
Some of the womens tattoos have the ancient Samoan designs. The Malu patterns. Looks great.
Just because samoan people are came from austonesian family like philippines and taiwan and indonesian too.
@@burnik5280 Austronesia isn't a genetic family, it's a linguistic one.
We don't have the same origins smh
it may looks similar but its different and has different meanings and some of the tattoos are almost close with aboriginal Taiwanese tattoes and Mentawai ethnic tattoes
Holy shit I can relate so much to him being reunited with his Philippine dad because I lived this reality too
I am proud to be filipino have a blood of pintados my great grandfather from island of samar
Beautiful smiles and tattoos. Meaningfully interesting.
Happy for you Joel for being able to find answer and filling a gap that’s for sure a lifelonging questions in your life and spending a momentous time with your biological father to put closure in a major chapter of your life. Blessings Peace and love to you bro 🙏👍✌️😇.

Very nice share. You are loved pare! Be proud you are pinoy. Mabuhay
The theme of male role models in our life and the impact...all the feels.
Tattoos traditionally is a mark participation and accomplishments or else you can't wear them with pride. I wish you have your mark that give you pride to wear them. In the times tattoos are like military uniforms it brings pride to those who earned it to wear them. They are also like medals In that a few can wear.
UR AWESOME BRO. I FEEL YOU TOL. GOD BLES U MORE
Napanuod ko ang istorya ng buhay mo at masaya ako na natagpuan mo na ang tatay mo. 👍👍 nice content bro keep it up 👍👍💪💪
it' super nice to see this video of yours! it's nice to be able to see what happened next after kmjs. also loved the 1st part of this video. there is so much to learn from
This vid is the best thing that popped in my list ever! 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I've known many Filipinos as I play guitar, many Filipinos sing which is really cool! 😆 I just subscribed as I never knew about the Filipino tattooing philosophy at all and I love learning about other cultures! I'll check out your other videos as well! 😆
I'm proud of my ancestors they are part of Guerillas fighting for our freedom for all the country that try to took us over
i wish there's a tattoo artist like them in the East..
Glad that you meet your biological Tatay Bro. God bless
Very nice
It's nice to see this tattoo artist spreading traditional filipino tattoos. More filipinos should embrace their own traditional tattoos instead of getting samoan tattoo's.
What about Japanese styled tattoos ?
@@SFCityKids Obviously anyone can get whatever tattoo they want. I'm just saying be proud of your heritage and culture.
Maybe she just wanted you to be Americanized or what country where you live in.
I hope you can learn your language and connect deeper to your pinoy heritage

Those traditional designs of tattoos are tatts of Cordillera Region of the Philippines, rare design bec only headhunters are inked specifically in Kalinga area.
Is he serious about saying he just walked out of his house as a little kid and got lost, ending up in a orphanage and then adopted? That's a wild as trip.
Yes, there is a 60 Minutes episoded about his whole story! It's very touching.

So the whole 60 minutes thing was a bunch of BS!!! His pops at the end just admitted it; "No not me".. his punk a** mum ditched him, then led him to believe it was his dad who betrayed him.. His mother is a POS!!! End of story
Such an amazing story!!
Very proud of filipino culture..
When he said " I pound you "
I felt that...

I love my baybayin tattoos of my daughter and son's name on both my calves.
modern Baybayin is not legit though. Baybayin is dead like the egyptian hieroglyphs.
@@user-hz3rf8ld6l maybe for you its not legit but for me it is part of my history, culture and always will be. I'm positive most of the Filipinos will agree with me.
@@tinapa7898 nope. the original baybayin is different. nobody really knows how to use it. like i said, just like the egyptian hieroglyphs, nobody knows how to read those old scripture. people just made interpretations of those scriptures but nobody really knows the legit way to use it.

Wow, so similar with the aboriginal Taiwanese tattoes and Mentawai ethnic tattoes, in Indonesia.
Our ancestors here in Philippines are from southern china and from taiwan as well.
