How to fix a plugged kitchen sink that won't drain. If your sink is backed up, clogged, and won't drain, this video will show you how to fix it!

We were about to throw in the towel and call the plumber (right here before Christmas bills), but instead your video inspired me to go try violently plunging the sink just one more time. I know this video is 7 years old, but you're still helping people! Thanks!
Thanks for the comment! I just plunged mine and it worked!!! I had dumped like 3 cups of old cooked rice down the sink when I was exhausted after work. Looking back next time it's going in the trash for sure! :D
@@NicolasWilson1986 We have two pet pigs, so thankfully leftover food is never the problem! ;)
Thank you kindly. I’m a single mother, who owns my on home, and here lately, I’ve had to look up solutions on repairing certain minor issues. Ur video saved me, super helpful, detailed, great instructions. I appreciate the knowledge that u shared. Take care. Thank you.
I'm in the same situation as you.
Same here
I just became a widow and now have to fix things around the house myself. Thank you so much for your instruction. I saw the video and followed the directions, which were excellent! Fixed the clogged sink myself! So helpful, thanks!
Sorry for your loss ma’am, that really has to suck
Surprised my husband and fixed it myself before he even had a chance to look at it. 5 months pregnant too! Thanks, the Wifey
So big, gigantic, enormous thanks to you! I was outside and came in to a flood in my kitchen from the dishwasher over flowing. Your video had my problem fixed in no time and saved me a bundle! I think my husband will get tired of hearing how I fixed the sink all by myself when he gets home later.
The last solution worked. I clocked up the pipes over the years. You're awesome dude thank you!
Just what I needed. Even had the same blockage. Thanks for making this so easy!
Thank you so much! This was my exact problem and I was able to fix it by following your directions. You saved me a couple hundred buck tonight. Again, thank you so much.
Just wanted to say thank you! ...this video really helped me out early, this Sunday morning, with a house full of relatives. Made me look like a professional plumber!

Thank you so much! II ended up clogging the sink trying to use the garbage disposal on too many big items and I need to take care of it before my husband got home from work. So he didn’t have to work on it and this video walked me through it.
Who knew that fixing a clogged drain could be so easy? Thanks a million!
Hooray! I followed your very clear and easy-to-follow video instructions and, voila! The blockage was in exactly the location you identified. I loved the part about, "I might have learned that by experience". Lets the rookies know it's ok to make mistakes when learning a new task.
It seems like there is another simpler way that may work and should be tried before unhooking drain pipes. Plug the unclogged sink with an airtight cover. Then, while holding it in place, turn on the disposal in the clogged side. If it is going to work, then within a matter of seconds, the clogged sink will empty. The disposal acts like a pump and with the other sink closed off, it forces the clog down the drain. I wish I could claim this solution as mine but truth is I came across it while looking into a solution for my clogged drain. My thanks to that contributor. Of course, if it doesn't work, this Tomahawk video is a well explained solution. NIce job!
Thanks a ton man, just finished unclogging the drain and now it's working better than ever. didn't have to spend a dime!
It worked, and it was so simple I believe even my husband could have done it, but he didn't, I did! Thank you so much!
10 years later, and this video still helps! Unclogged my kitchen sink this morning--Thank you!
Thank you! I was kind of aware of how to unclog my sink, but not entirely comfortable doing it. I watched your video, followed the instructions, and unclogged my sink! Thanks again!
Thank you for making this video! You just save me some trouble with the roommates and some money for a plumber on the weekend. Thank you!
Extremely helpful video and I fixed the clogged sink 5 minutes after watching this video.
Thank you!!! this was a nice 2 am project that saved me a service call.
Thank you...really appreciate you taking the time to share this with others. God bless you for your thoughtfulness!
Thanks for a great video guide on how to fix a clogged kitchen sink that won't drain! I took the liberty to embed this video in one of my posts on my website that reviews garbage disposals. Hopefully, my readers will find it just as helpful as I did.

This helped us so much. Thank you!!!! There was two metal pieces from the drain catcher in the pipes. We bought the house almost 1 year ago and still discovering things. Thanks again!
Fixed it myself and wife is super happy. Thanks!
I had a clogged garbage disposal, and I thought for sure I'd have to take the pipes apart, but figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to check CZcams, bc my husband always said you can find anything on CZcams! Am I glad I did! It unclogged with a plunger! Your explanations for everything were interesting and helped me understand plumbing logic. TY!
I live in an older apartment and our drains get clogged all the time. It's horrible. Thanks so much for this video! It's helped so much! It's kept us from calling maintenance in the middle of the night!

Thanks a ton! I was at my wits end trying to figure out what was going on with our kitchen sink. We’ve previously had to replace the garbage disposal and I was thinking we would have to do it again. Thankfully, I was able to use your advice and get the job done, finding out that the disposal system was working just fine. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
You're welcome. Glad it helped!
Thanks for teaching me to do this myself! Worked. Saved $$ on a service call.

Thank you so much! You helped us on Thanksgiving. We had to undo all of the pipes underneath, and I wouldn't have been brave enough to do that without your video.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Got the same problem. Luckily, using a plunger and a drain plug worked. Thanks!

Thank you, thank you thank you - I made soup and clogged up the pipes when I ran the disposal - It also backed into the dishwasher but the other side was running freely - Tomorrow morning I will follow your instructions and free it up - I did not know about the middle pipe that separated the two sinks - Great video

I didn't think to try the plunger - sincere thanks for saving me from a plumber call!
Doing this tomorrow after work! thanks buddy you saved me a service call
Thank you very much! First two years living on my own and finally ran into this issue. I didn't know how simple it was. I didn't have a plunger, so I went with the second method. My sink was filled halfway with water though, so I emptied it using a cup at a time into a large bowl before I loosened the pipe. Having a towel under the bowl may be over conscious, but I did so in case there was more water coming than I expected. Fortunately for me it was just potato particles clogged together that I had to pull out instead of anything gross.
Had a general idea but this helped alot! Thank you
thank you so much for this video! I clogged my sink and was so worried I'd have to pay for a plumber but after watching this video I was able to fix the clog myself! I am not that handy so I was very excited when it actually worked! thank you so much!!!
Thank you! I was having a sink issue and your video really helped me out! My food trap was completely filled with potatoes....
Thank you buddy, it saved my day. May God bless you.
Thank you, it did help me unclog the sink that the clog was on both sides, Now it's figuring out how to reattach the garbage disposal to the sink because it separated during the repair finding where the clog is.
Awesome video 👍Simple application and saved 💰💰💰💰💰👌
Mines now working thanks to you :)

Right before Thanksgiving dinner the sink clogged. I tried going under the sink and doing it myself, no dice I got splashed on lol. I did a search and you came up, I tried the first recommendation of using the plunger, boom it worked, I am so happy and thank you! I became the champ lol, you saved he day, thank you. I have also subscribed.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you sir. Plunger worked and you saved me about $400 👍🙏😎
Thanks, Tomahawk! Very helpful. :)
Very helpful. Thanks!
Thanks Tom! Saved my Thanksgiving. My wife may not be talking to me because of my bad skills but the sink is fixed and we are moving on with the day. Big time Thanks.
+George Tunnell ...Blame her or who ever cooked. Thanksgiving is the NUMBER ONE time for clogs in the kitchen sink. They are due to people throwing way too much vegetable crap and fats down the disposal and making clogs just like he showed here and sometimes worse.
Ha! My brother and I just fixed this, thank you so much
Thank you for this information. I just copied what you did and it worked. I’m just nervous that I tightened every thing back up correctly. So far no leaking.
Excellent!
Using a plunger (just like the one you used) worked for me thank you man 😎👍
it helped me today to remove the blockage. thank you!
Thanks being a single mom this was really helpful.
Hell yea you are the man. Saved my sink. Dirty job but had to be done. Thank you
I wasn't sure what exactly had clogged my apartment's garbage disposal but the plunger worked! thank you!
That's great. Thank you for watching.
Thank you, it was really very helpful. I just cleaned my blocked sink
Thanks for the video and nice explanation!!
The plunger worked for me, i plunged slowly to move the clog back n forth, then eventually it will clear the drain. I did cover the other side of the sink that wasn't clogged. That helped! Thank you!
I tired different methods and nothing worked, then I watched your video and now no more clogged drain. Thank you
Thank you to much.
I was able to unclog my sink like a pro with your help 😎
Made me look like a hero to my husband. Thank you!
Thank you. Your video assured me what I was doing would work. I did well.
