  • After so many years, my experience show me that the most official way to change the oil pan gasket is that way no more leaks no more oil on the driveway!

This video is NOT correct. You missed a VERY critical part of the installation. Before torquing down the bolts to spec, you have to take a straight edge to the mating surface of the back side of the pan to make sure its FLUSH to the back surface of the engine block. Since you missed this step, oil will inevitably leak out the back of the pan. Either the corners or the along the side somewhere. This will happen as soon as you bolt the pan to the transmission(two bottom BH bolts). Once this happens, you break the seal of the gasket or the RTV. Then what most inexperienced guys do is tighten down the two long bolts that go into the rear cover, thinking that they weren’t tight enough. This is when the rear main seal will start leaking… how to I know this, you ask? Bc I’ve redone more botched LS oil pan gasket installs that thought they did all the step’s correctly. Hell even the instructions Holley sends out with their retrofit oil pans is incorrect.
I suggest posting a new video when you end up re-doing this in the car and taking this down, because I know 100% that your’s leaked oil after this botched install.
