UKSRTX Extra Stage - Peeesh feat. j0e / The Thread of Fate Manipulator

- Imagine discovering you're an NPC in this world, and others have the ability to steer some people to victory...
That was Peeesh's revelation. So he decided to take matters into his own hands, and control one of US directly, to try and beat the tournament's winner into submission. It doesn't work of course... But he had no way of knowing it wouldn't until he tried.
Yes, he really does crash the game and re boot into a custom screen.
The art for Peeesh's excellent theme was done by Mars. Peeesh sucks at drawing.
The Thread of Fate Manipulator, also known as The Mods Machine, is a project me and j0e threw together over a new years eve weekend last year. We knew we wanted to do live mods as an gimmick, and the idea snowballed from there into the extra stage for UKSRTX.

This thing has a LOT of features, and the song was designed to take advantage of pretty much the whole thing, in different sections.
During the tournament, j0e would pretend to be possessed by Peeesh as he applies modifiers timed to the ORIGINAL SONG HE WROTE for the stage. He rehearsed the shit out of the mod sets used in the battle.
UKSRT8: Character talks to players
UKSRT9: Players enter the game via VR
UKSRT10: Character takes over someone IRL
UKSRT11: Final boss physically walks into the damn arcade and 1v1s the winner???
Menoshe UKSRT12: Losing literally kills you!
UKSRT13: OH SHIT WORLD ENDS IF YOU LOSE UH OH
I mean, if someone cosplays as the antagonist and steps on the P2 board, it's totally possible.

Can I just say it's amazing how ambitious the extra stages are getting. Like, even though it's a small one, they put in the effort to make a actual real life script for the power cable bit. (Or at least ques)
So I'm really excited to see what the extra stage has in store for mixing realities on 11
I love how as Peeesh is having a serious conversation with Laer about the people in the arcade, everyone is just like "Hey, look it's us!"

Okay, I know very little about all this, but...isn’t this a tournament? Is this a tournament for a DDR clone that somehow has _lore_ ?

So it’s, like, professional wrestling? Like WWE?
This is a NotITG tournament. This tournament anyone can enter regardless of how good they are at reading the effects (mods) on the screen.
NotITG is one of the DDR clones that lets you make your own songs and stuff. This particular clone is a copy of a clone called OpenITG, but they added in code into the game to make these mods easier (still extremely time consuming) for the player, and gives more mods to mess with for the player.

I still don’t understand, rewatched, read the description. is joe the dude in a hoodie, is the thing not controlled by the audio but by a real player doing the movements of the notes in real time

it's a korg nanokontrol 2! (look it up)
Each knob, slider and button was mapped to a different mod, tween or lua function!
