- The Dallas Mavericks took down the West No. 1-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in a grueling 4-2 series win in the second round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving helped carry the team over the finish line, the Mavs certainly wouldn't have completed the series victory without clutch heroics and incredible defense from PJ Washington Jr., Derrick Jones Jr., Dereck Lively II, and the rest of the squad. Before Dallas takes on the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals, look back on the epic series win against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the young, up-and-coming Thunder.

It's Luka's team but Kai has really stepped up to the leadership role
People really overthink the "leader" thing. I hope people grasp by now who Luka is, killer on the court but rather reserved off court, that values playing with people he respects and compete hard. He's not going to be the emotional and spiritual leader, and that's a role Kyrie craves and gets in Dallas. Maybe there's still a langage barrier, but still that's not who he is and that's okay, that doesn't prevent him from knowing how he wants to play and make decisions on the court. People have different personalities and thrive in different roles.
Luka gets a talented team to compete with without needing to emotionally manage his teammates, Kyrie gets to lead a team and be inspire them without carrying most of the offensive load. It's a very good fit. They know who they are.
It reminds me of rockets in 18' cp3 being the emotional leader while harden is the best player. Difference is luka is more clutch and shows up for the playoffs while kyrie is way better than cp3

Love this! The more I think about it the more confident I become. This wolves team plays to Mavs advantages better. They also have Ant who isn’t an offensive powerhouse like SGA.
Yeah, SGA didn’t get enough credit, he was a consistent bucket, hopefully Ant stays inconsistent.
This series will be tougher, Ant always finds a way and has more motor than SGA. Ant's shots hits harder especially after they force a turnover, after scoring from transition his dunks gives his team momentum. SGA quietly sinks his points in and doesn't generate much momentum compared to Ant. I don't know there is something impactful whenever Ant starts getting his shots in.

I’m not a bandwagon, I had the Mavs going far in this playoff run, but lord, I did not expect how friggin loveable this team was gonna be. All these guys are scrappy as hell, they got that underdog mentality and they are playing out of their MINDS. Kyrie is a dog, I’ve been a fan of him since his days in Cleveland and to see him excel in this team after all the scrutiny he’s had from the media, all the ppl that said he should retire, that he is not a team player, that he’s not a leader, he is proving everybody wrong, and the moment he wins the finals with Luka and everyone on this team, the media, sports critics, EVERYONE that has spoken trash on him in some way, owes Kyrie and apology, as well as Luka, the organization, the Head Coach Jason Kidd, they all owe these guys an apology. They deserve the title this year, more so than the Celtics. Prayers up to Lively for a full recovery, I’m going for the Mavs to win it all, y’all have made a believer out of me and have made me a lifetime fan of this organization forreal 💙🤍

As a Laker fan, i love seeing Kyrie mature and be a true leader. Luka is the head of the pack but Kyrie is their heart and soul. After all the drama he's been in his previous seasons, I want to see him win his 2nd ring. That will be a great testament to prove their doubters wrong that Ky and Luka won't work. Dallas really accepted him as a human being. They're now up 2-0 against the Wolves in the WCF. If the Dallas makes it to the NBA Finals, they gonna give Boston a run for their money. 👌 I hate the Celtics though. I hope Mavs win it all
