    Nice Semi. The diagram for the gear selection reminded me of a mate in Norn Iron who has a WWII M4 half-track. It has the gear selection pattern on a plate on the dash, which includes a plate which says not to engage drive to the front axle when on metalled roads.

      A top loader different allows for one drive shaft to power any number of axles. Centre loaded differential need individual drive shafts from the transfer case. Top loaders also put the drive shaft up out of the way of harm from rough terrain.

    • @ethelmini
      @ethelmini Před rokem

      Noticed they were "top loaders", but hadn't thought about how that was done.
      I could see worms offering loads of advantages...
      Maximal gear ratio - you're driving the crown wheel as far from its axis as is possible.
      Double the helix meshing - you can mirror it over the top of the crown wheel (globoid worm)
      Reduced axial loading - you're driving the crown wheel in its own plane.
      The "pinion" can over shoot - so you can support it with bearings at both ends.
      The "pinion" can be as big as you like without altering the drive ratio - greater contact surface, reduced wear.

    What’s the possibility of getting a newer MBT project like perhaps a Challenger or Abrams? 🧐

    • @davewise001
      @davewise001 Před rokem +1

      Abrams? Don't think that would be within the budget even if it was possible to import one from the states, the import costs would also be incredibly high. A knackered Challenger 1 prototype could be purchased apparently as a "runner" for about £65,000 but it's not a complete vehicle. A Challenger II original cost £4,200,000 if you could buy an "old" one at just 5% of it's original cost would be £210,000 very deep pockets would be needed.

    • @paulott5390
