Mini 8ight: bit.ly/2KmEbK1 Team Associated Reflex: bit.ly/30XPQVj Rally Car:bit.ly/30XPVZ7 Today Alex checks out the Losi Mini 8ight 1/14 Truggy! Music by: David Cutter
Talking about getting something affordable and fun: My favorite RC experiance was with a couple dirt cheap Nikko RC cars that my dad bought for Christmas one year. We literally wore the tires off of them we drove them so much. IIRC he paid $100 for the pair at Lionel Play World. All the money I have spent in the RC hobby(probably thousands at this point) are all basically me trying to recapture the fun we had.
I'm buying my 8 year old son his 1st r/c car this Christmas! He's getting Reflex 14t and I'm gifting myself LC racing 14truggy, we have cool little indoor off road track close to us. 1/14 is perfect size
Great video Alex; I agree with you on getting friends and family together having fun running pc's. I recently purchased a Rustler vxl 4x4 and have the Traxxas tsm in it; I find having that is a great help on my part and plan to get a Slash vxl with tsm also. Helping me keep more control is great. Went to families land in northern Minnesota and bought our RC crawlers ; really had a good time. Trying to get my granddaughter into it( she got an RC for Christmas) but she would rather chase them for now.
The rally car u have is a Vaterra Kemora....its brother (Kalahari) is what got me into the hobby as well. These three RCs look like great companion of each other.
You sold me. I have been looking for a small rc truck to make fast like mamba fast. I'm done with on road cars so this is perfect. I have a xmaxx 8cell but just use it for BMX tracks and walking to the coffee shop. When I go get coffee with it I put on the SNAP ON TOOLS BOX VAN body. People love it.
That looks like so much fun. I have been "out of the hobby" since the early 90's, but these videos make me want to reinvest. I wish Alex was my neighbor.
looks like fun dude, i race 1/8th scale nitro and ebuggy, you guys should definitely build an off road track at the new flite Test home , man so much fun ripping them little things on a dirt track
I got a old school associated 18t a ofna jamming 1/8th scale buggy and a old school associated street car that has two gears.. all gas except the 18th scale.. the 18th scale was perfect for backyard racing.. in small area. I had to put a 100 dollar steering servo in my 1/8th scale for jumping and racing.. if not the regular servo that come with rtr are trash and break fast.. usually those servos are good enough for street but when it comes to lot of bumps jumps ect they don't do so well. one thing though if you are planning on racing gas at a track and have friend.. sometimes its better to have complete opposite cars.. so you can pit for each other.. 30 min main and refueling ect.. you need someone you can trust to help you.. so I had my 1/8th scale buggy and my friend had a big truggie.. so two diff classes but we could pit for each other..but ya for backyard racing we all had 18ts and that shit was fun for like 7 months straight back in the day. I also bought a fm controller that can program 10 cars to.. back in the day.. though I just kept my 18t am.. but ya rtr are a good deal nowadays.. just some things need to be replaced depending on use.. I miss driving mine I should get them running again.. one of my very first youtube vids shows a little footage of the 18ts back in the day and my little cheesy track in my backyard if you want to check it out.. its old footage from a video camera back in the day.
It would be interesting to combined elements of flitetest with driveon. I have been upgrading an old buggy and am working on a foamcore body before a new 3dPrinted body.
You guys should try kyosho mini z's, I've heard they're pretty good, especially for their size. BTW, love the channel, brought me back into RC cars from planes again.
Ah yes! Same thing happened to me! 1 brushed Emaxx turned into 2 then 3 and now I'm at 7 brushless beasts all ranging from a 10th scale stadium truck to a 7th scale Cen Reeper! It is definitely an addiction! I probably got almost 3k$ into Rcs lol.
I got 2 of them I want them one with the red chassis and one with the black chassic There is not much of a part catalog for the mini 14 , you said their is I need to see that catalog
Still think you guys should give WPL a try, they’re nice and fun cheap projects and they are really improving their quality over time, they just keep surprising me
The Losi mini 8ight db is much better has all the updated parts and fixes some of the short comings of the truck version , that said I did put the Exotek carbon fiber center brace , new servo, hot racing cvd’s( the stock drive shafts are garbage )sway bars and progressive springs and got some 2.2 duratrax buggy tires and that thing rocks It’s so much fun handles like a dream and is so fast on 3s.
I run a Exotek motor mount too witch has a fan mount ,running a 30 mm fan on the motor and a 25mm on the speedo, also run the 12 tooth pinion with a steel 59 tooth spur and I monitor the temps it stays with in optimal range.
I found this Rc brand called dromida and they have a variety of models to chose from. Would it be posible to do a review on them. They are also a well recognized brand with good ratings and have two versions, brushed and brushless motor cars.
Looked at this car some years ago. Now I have an X-maxx. Drive On should really get an X-Maxx soon and test that car which blows the rest clear out of the water. Another suggestion is to test the Traxxas Summit vxl 1/16 for smaller bashing, and to test the Traxxas Summit 1/10 for crawling, light bashing. Out of all my rc cars, the ones that will stay will always be the x-maxx, the summit and the summit vxl.
"Drive On should really get an X-Maxx soon and test that car which blows the rest clear out of the water." I really hope you're not comparing a 5th scale vehicle to these.....
The losi mini 8t is a money pit unless you keep it stock.. if you want to run lipos that's where all my problems started... servo broke 1st tumble... then the pinion gear stripped the one from losi when it stripped it caused the motor shaft the break because it's way to small diameter.. they came out with an Newer version of it the desert truggy with upgraded motor that has the same shaft size as the e revo 1/16. If your on a budget and dont want to replace everything get a 1/16 e revo... I'm not mad at losi I just think for the price it wasn't even comparable to the full size 8t or the mini8 buggy. Oh and if you do upgrade the mini 8t make sure you take out all slop in the diffs. That's the next thing I have to replace is that cause that went out as well.. only reaching speeds of 45 with 3s and wrong gearing. Its geared 60t, 14 gunna be going down to 55t and 19t to see if get more top end all and all it's been fun to modify it just wasn't planning on it so be aware if you want a project...
Most tracks don't race 1/14 scale either. So if you did bring them to a track, it would probably just be for fun and probably race with the 1/10 scale buggies.
Ha, ha. I use gaff tape on my bodies, too! However, I attach it to the inside, then use E6000 over it and seal it with Plasti-Dip. I need to find a supplier of gaff tape now that I am no longer in the show business.
7 months waiting for new content. Knock knock anyone home? Did mrbix outlaw DO? I sure hope not. I just got my first ever rc car, latrax prerunner. Did DO ever do a review of this truck? Thanks!
@@calebsherman886 I've built these little cars many years ago that just ran on standard AA batteries but they weren't rc. Never seen anything else that wasn't kit based but used radios besides hobby grade stuff soo....
Bring back more Drive On 🏎
BRING BACK DRIVE ON WE LOVE ALL THE CONTENT YOU CREATE

Christopher Raff sounds just like a drug addiction.

Keep up the good works. You guys have a background in aerodynamics so nothing impossible. :)

Great info! I'm definitely getting one! Thanks!!!
Good info, i have only really played with the crawlers but I have been think of getting into more of the Racing trucks. Thanks.
That looks like so much fun. I have been "out of the hobby" since the early 90's, but these videos make me want to reinvest. I wish Alex was my neighbor.
I hear ya i just hit 41 n i need an rc again lol
Hey could y’all start posting here again it would really be awsome😢
Really amazing cars! 😃
Great review!!!
BTW, try to get the WPL C34 (metal kit) for review. It's an amazing crawler and it's super cheap!
Did you guys give up on this channel?
Why yes, yes they have.
I have one of those rally cars, I put a higher kv motor and a 3s Lipo in it and stripped the spur gear, it was crazy fast for a minute
Lol same I did with my other car
I stripped a titanium spur gear.
get hardened gears, i run a 5150kv on 3s with zero issues. both spur and pinion need to be hardened
Great Video and nice driving skills!
It Would be so awesome if you guys could design and build a dedicated track at edgewater. Great Car btw 👍🏼
LC racing short course tires or monster truck tires will fit the Reflex.
You guys should do a series where you build a track for your cars, I mean you have the space for it at the new headquarters
looks like fun dude, i race 1/8th scale nitro and ebuggy, you guys should definitely build an off road track at the new flite Test home , man so much fun ripping them little things on a dirt track
Fun video just got checking your channel, I have a p51 d to build...i had dura tracks evaders but always wanted a 4wd...
Mini 8ight buggy is awesome too
Get the metal servo saver by losi, works awesome.
What is going on I haven't seen a video from y'all in 4 months

I used to love losi i had the xxcr and a xxxcr but no shops carry losi parts so i have traxxas now
Cool informative video!! I enjoyed it very much😎👍👍
Great channel. A lot of really good observations. Nothing posted in a year, though? Hope all is well.
do a vid on the hellion conquest 10b xb please!!!
I had the smaller brushless 8ight. Had awful luck at snapping my motors drove shaft
It would be interesting to combined elements of flitetest with driveon. I have been upgrading an old buggy and am working on a foamcore body before a new 3dPrinted body.
An E-Revo 2.0 review would be amazing
wut up guys! luv ur vids!
You guys should try kyosho mini z's, I've heard they're pretty good, especially for their size. BTW, love the channel, brought me back into RC cars from planes again.
6 months into the hobby, own 3 hobby grade and a toy grade that I'm upgrading. Also plans for another hobby grade build. RC is an addiction.

Awesome
Have you seen the new Trx-4 track "wheels". You should get them!
What steering sevo should I get for my gen 7 sport? The stock one is too weak
Love my ae 14b but i already broke the a bearing :( 25 bucks for a bearing kit, ive had my losi mini 8 for years and nothing has broke
Happy 1st year
I got 2 of them I want them one with the red chassis and one with the black chassic There is not much of a part catalog for the mini 14 , you said their is I need to see that catalog
Bring back drive on please!!!
Make a upgrade video of the a959b
Right now you can get a 1/10 Losi brushless 4x4 truggy for $249 or an Arrma for $299. Is that 1/14 really worth it then?
Are you reviewing all the cars or the one in the title?
Still think you guys should give WPL a try, they’re nice and fun cheap projects and they are really improving their quality over time, they just keep surprising me
What’s better the reflex 14b or the mini eigth?
You should try out the traxxas rally car except try to put a velineon brushless motor
What lipos and size you running?
I have the buggy version and I’ve gone through 5 diffs with a stock setup I’ve only ran it a couple times and not really bashing
xxaxnxtxhxoxnxyxx I cleared a 5 foot double and got a broken diff lol I didn’t get on the gas in the air
I run my rc's around the Cleveland area as well. Maybe I'll run into you guys sometime!
I was wondering how fast it was.
Can u do a review on the jlb cheetah
Need more vidoes from u guys commmee onnn

How are temps on 3s? Losi has been known to over gear and go into thermal.
I run a Exotek motor mount too witch has a fan mount ,running a 30 mm fan on the motor and a 25mm on the speedo, also run the 12 tooth pinion with a steel 59 tooth spur and I monitor the temps it stays with in optimal range.

Got an idea : you know how you guys do crazy awesome stuff on flite test well, you should do it here car edition
when new episodes??

Reflex and LC racing are great as well.
Losi is more of a track car not a basher. True
how do i get a airbus
Can you guys bring back another rc28 fpv race??
Thanks
Where y'all go? :(
Where are you. I binged almost all your vids and ended up here.
Most tracks wont let you run any kind of gyro stabilization.
Most tracks don't race 1/14 scale either. So if you did bring them to a track, it would probably just be for fun and probably race with the 1/10 scale buggies.
1 year later, still gone
Well I guess you guys are not going to make anymore videos.
Aye can you guys have a car area at flitefest
you guys should make wall-E. pls that really works.
Please do vids on Wltoys products!! Great fun to cost ratio and honestly just fun to drive!!
Beyond the A959B already reviewed! Thanks guys!
New video?
HELP!!! I CANT FIND THIS CAR NEW
Come baaaaacccckkkkkkk
hi i just subscribed and the last video was 10 months ago what happend
i think they stopped because they are posting on their other channel (flite test)
Hey drive on/flite test you guys should try the original redcat Everest 10
Love that truck for the $$. So much flex. Does great with just a tire swap and minor tweaks.
Gr8 vid ;) . I'm gonna buy ..........
Nothing cuz I don't have the money -_-
Ha, ha. I use gaff tape on my bodies, too! However, I attach it to the inside, then use E6000 over it and seal it with Plasti-Dip. I need to find a supplier of gaff tape now that I am no longer in the show business.
It may steer better if you adjust the front toe in instead of out
you cant get any used mini 8ight for 130. and this is a year and a half later
Why aren't you uploading these days???
Hi guys
LC racing is the best 1/14th scale on the market.
you should make a at-at but on wheels
