- 2 Days ago I made a lot of people upset and I'm sorry. The AU-1 doesn't deserve this and neither do you. So, today... I play it and get some nukes to make it up to you!
The AU-1 is a Corsair that's been completely refitted with extra hard points for even more bombs and rockets. As well as this it also has armour plates on the underside to protect the engine and pilot from small arms fire and of course shrapnel (not that it helps if you're dropping 2000lb bombs) LOL! :)
Anyway, I didn't mean what I said. So can we all just calm down now??? Thanks! :)

A tip for playing any Corsair variant: Their landing gear is very strong and was used as dive brakes for dive bombing. This is modeled in game and quite handy when bombing with the AU-1.
I was going to comment that. Matter of fact, the gear is better for turning than the actual flaps.

In the F4U-4 pilot's manual AN 01-45HB-1:
(4) DIVE BRAKE CONTROL - (a) The dive brake control is located on the left hand shelf. To extend the dive brake, move the landing gear control into the "DOWN" position of the dive brake slot; this extends the main landing gear only, leaving the tail wheel retracted. To retract the dive brake, move the control to "UP".
I learned about it on a short documentary video about the Corsairs, then checked the War Thunder wiki for the breaking speed for the gear: it's 730kph. Then tried it with both the Corsairs I have unlocked and the Premium ones that can be test flown: the gear doesn't brake a lot, but allows to recover from dives faster and makes the turns more agile, especially taking into account the low speeds at which the flaps break.
As an AU-1 player myself I use the 6 500, 2 1000 and 1 2000 pound load out and tbh it’s useless. The load out he is using is way lighter so it could pull out of dives and deliver everything way easier so your point is valid for only the lighter load outs and not the heaviest ones u could put on there but good info

@@darrianshue3321 now you see the cannons of the plane penetrate the panthers easily which makes any tank destroyable and the planes rocket/bombs are too useful, what you are saying right now could be true and all because not all german bf109 users are good at the game but the plane its self is good. so that makes the AU-1 OP (this is just my opinion)
@@lastnamefirstname5708 It is , the amount of rockets and bombs this thing can carry , it can't turn in 22 sec . This torpedo bombers have a wheight of 5.5 tons emtpy , a Bf109K has 3 tons . This heavy plane turns almost as good as a light agile fighter , this is just WT bullsh*t . Odd complains about that it's a brick , thank god this thing can actually fly with that ordnance on .
Also, a lot of pilots dropped their bombs when entering a dogfight. Another problem is that the tanks can't hide anywhere. So it's unfair to begin with.

Woww, I think I wont be able to remember who I destroyed in a game or games 15 mins ago, I guess WT was different a year ago. BR leaps, ok, i always get use (im 7.7 now, and sssr at 4,0 started to play a 1,5 month ago - some 5 whole days all together)... Silver lions are big issue now, as I have 170k, bought m48, and need 350k for... I realized i was stupid to play with just 1 vehicle of higher rank... Now I wait until I buy at least 2...Also, tiger1 matches was mzch better than this "modern age"... I think im gonna grind other nations upto 6.0 and then move forward. Now, I needed advice, thats why i wrote this novel, to explain well my situation. Shall I grind planes so to do what he did in video? Recommend anything else?

@@APOLON-bm7ymyes! A good cas plane is one of the most important parts of a good lineup. I was struggling in French 6.0 ground until I finally got the AD-4 from the tech tree. Before I was stuck with a p-63. Planes are 100% worth it and can make a huge difference in your lineup effectiveness

I always thought the AU-1's paint job looked like a NASA project, which is funny, given in air RB they never seem to climb higher than 1000m
Until you get the one guy that realizes it's a barely worse f4u4b and cleans house with the airspawn. Even just climbing at 10 degrees and killing 1 or 2 288c's on the way to their bases is better than bombing, and a monkey can do it.
Bombing doesn’t mean you can’t kill a few fighters as well. Use the AU-1 to ground pound but usually kill 1-2 fighters through head-on or outmaneuvering, Japanese planes are bad matchups when they have altitude on you though cause no matter your energy or flap usage there’s no outmaneuvering them.
Might be biased though since players who target ground pounders usually aren’t as good or try-hard as the ones who climb and stay high.
@@satagaming9144 lol thats me right there, whenever I get a task of kill bombers or get 5 kills, or bomb x tonnes in bases or kill ground or literally anything I bring out the AU1 and clean house with it

the black camo on the au-1 is really nice. and its great for air rb grinding. (if i didn't have the us tree researched already i would get it just using the au-1)
Fun fact about the au-1 corsair, since its a corsair many people think it was made and designed during the world war 2, but in reality it was the last corsair to enter american service, and it was designed and tested during the korean war, and instead of fighter was redesigned as an strike aircraft, thats why all that payload.
the way to use the Au-1 is to deploy your landing gear to break your dives. They are HELLA sturdy! The give you way more time to line up a target in a dive

I dont think that Wirblewind guy got the memo, the Wirblewind was nerfed since they nuked it's ap belts from 64mm to 48mm.
For those who do have this thing, don’t use the 1600 pound bombs, they’re about as useful as a 500 pound bomb while weighing more than triple
hard lesson learned, i use 9x500s usually

On a seperate note, I prefer the looks of the F4U-4B over the AU-1, the lack of the air intake on the front of the AU-1 just doesn't sit right with me.
the slightly square cowling also catches me off guard, sits with me arguably worse than the previous corsairs with a completely circular cowling

Hey Odd, please take out the Tortoise and the Tempest Mk. II! Really good combo I found at 6.7 considering the Tutel bounces everything and you can beat Tiger IIs and anything else from the front, and you get 8x RP-3s and 4x Hispanos to melt things!

I have the AU-1, got it from the 279 (which I bought a little later for like $50) and it is an absolute blast. The max bomb payload is half-meme half-actually-pretty-damn-good. I always run the 6 500s, 2 1k's and 1 2k, carpet bomb a little with the 500s and get heavies/multikills with the larger ones. I would use the HVARs as much as I love them for dunking on AAs but between 10 HVARs and 6 bombs, I'll take the 6 bombs. The guns are typically plenty enough to deal with AAs in my own experience, not to mention how absurd they are in ATA combat. Now in Air RB, this thing is just a lower tier A2D. Pretty speedy, good bomb load, air spawn, dangerous to get in front of but not the greatest in actual air combat. Its a great grinder down low, too bad its over $300. Glad I got it when I did...

This was the stupidest plane back in the Arcade SQB days - drop your bomb load on spawn to be the fighter and then in random moment the bomb load respawns and you can't turn corner between the rocks and you're dead. But yeah, the bomb load is glorious.
Interestingly we played the Arcade SQB mode in custom battles last week and it seems that custom battles have something wrong with the american cannons, they do nothing to german planes there...
Little update odd -console aircraft tracking had had a stealth update (I play on series X and only found out recently about tracking.i turned it off when I first started as I wanted to get good at the game as planned to move to pc and didn't want any handicaps anyways...)... As soon as line of site is broken (by aircraft going behind buildings and trees and hills etc) tracking is immediately ceased and your crosshair stays at the point where LOS was broken...but the moment you pop out of cover even if your not longer on screen the camera instantly snaps to your location and continues tracking while you have LOS.
Looks like gajnipples is working on fixing this so it's less unfair but so far it only helps while you have LOS broken but you can't be shot anyways at that time..... So the fact it snaps back to your location means literally nothing is improved.
So this is pretty much the same as the F4u 4b VMP for console?

probably my favorite event vehicle and i'm glad i passed up the OBJ for it.
that being said, i agree with you, i love it but it isn't the best CAS, just one of the heaviest loadouts.,
the obj was by far the better choice in everyway.
