I had Hay Fever about 2 years ago and took like 2 Benadryl and was watching PBS cause that’s what I do when I’m sick.. they ended up playing one of those commercials where they play all the snippets of old PBS shows from the 90’s and early 2000’s. The theme song for Sagwa came on and I burst out in tears. I called my sister bawling, telling her how our childhood was over and this show was something that always brought me joy when days were rough. 😭❤️🥺
I had to look up what they're singing. :D Apparently the Chinese part is Good friend Good friend Fool is my good friend. Yes, Sagwa or 傻瓜 (Shǎguā) means fool. :D

when I saw the thumbnail, I was like, "Hey have I seen this show before?" when I clicked the video I was like "holy crap I haven't seen this show in a long ass time!"
Fun story: When I visited "The Wilderness" or "Wisconsin Dells", I remember seeing a little bit of an episode or two once or twice going thier. This was way after the show ended (probably between 2006 and 2008). I also remember in-between the episode was a real life scene of a girl at a window looking at the moon (I think the moon had a face). Also, it was on something called "Sprouts". I couldn't find it for a while, but the few memories I have still stay with me.
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one to remember this show. Literally everyone I brought this up to has no recollection of this show, which is a shame because it was great!
(Okay, this really ruins your childhood, even mine considering that I'm Chinese myself:) Realize that Sagwa is a slang that means "insane person". Literally means "melon head", but it's usually a negative term to call someone. The more you know. Now you can use that to call someone, just not to name a cat.
greenmeanie growing up and remembering this show, it makes me think if sagwa is supposed to be Korean, because her name will translate to "Apple" instead, and seeing the the characters' clothing somehow identical to traditional Korean clothing

The melody of the song was always something that stood out me! It had such a relaxing Chinese tune every time I would here it! I also liked learning about the Chinese culture in those segments that Sagwa would do!
Hope you are doing good
It's been years since I saw this show. Oh, how time flies by.
Who else grew up watching cartoons like this that made your childhood the best?
I randomly came across this video and got hit with a brick of nostalgia. I remember I loved this show as a kid but in recent years I had completely forgotten it even existed and now all I want to do is binge watch the show to relive those days years ago
It's almost midnight, I am coding in my room, and for some reason I had this epiphany that I once watched 'Sawga' as a child, and I am glad I made here. Might come back in the future.
I use to think this was Mulan's cat ..
*Ally M* Well, I'd say you were pretty close. The emperor's three daughters could easily be the three princesses; Mei, Su and Ting Ting from Mulan 2. Even the colors of their clothes are practically the same!! XD
TheOtherSideoftheLookingGlass This is actually a magistrate
*Coperfield Productions* I know. I watched some of the show after I wrote this comment but was too lazy to correct it.😅 Thanks.
UGH SAME
Lol
Yooo Sagwa was my main girl!! Lol. PBS was popping back when this and Cyberchase aired
CYBERCHASE! Holy shit! What a show :D
freezaplanet419 mannn everyday after school! that was the life lol
I actually hated cyber chase as a kid that and caiilou
Raven Thomas
How could you hate Caiilou? He had the cancer.
Th3Sh1n1gam1 Caillou WAS a cancer. I lost IQ points every time I had to watch his damn show.
This is something that would've stayed forgotten if it hadn't randomly popped up in my feed.
Loved this show. Learned a lot about Chinese culture through it. Still lives in my head rent free after all these years and I’m 30. LOL.
YOU NEED A SENIOUR DISCOUNT IF U REMEMBER THIS SHOW💞💕💞💕💝
Real shit
Do I get to double it if I remember Woody Wood Pecker, Heckle and Jeckle, and or Popeye the Sailor? The great mysteries of that age being just who was Sweet Pea's daddy and was Wimpy ever going to pay for those hamburgers? Who am I kidding. We all know Wimpy's burger bill is just like the national debt in that its never going to be paid. Please forgive the ramblings of an old man's mind.
Damn, making me feel old and shiii :"(
Im only 24 ☹
Senior*
you’re a real og pbs kid if you remember this show
Can’t believe I’m an og, I’m getting old man
I loved this show. Sagwa and the other cats were so cute!

SO I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT REMEMBERED THIS WHEN I WAS A KID?
I know this show
The Dynasty Cats, the Chinese versions of the Aristocats.
when i was a little girl i used to watch this show and now i'm studying mandarin, the funny turns in life 😄
Can we all agree that Sagwa and Seegwa was extremely cute?
Yes of course 🥰
So cute! ❤
By the way, this show is underrated.
Why do I remember all the words after 15 years??
Doesn't really surprise me. I myself remember this intro very well, even though it's been 10-11 years since I watched it on TV.
me too. thats love.
Lol Ikr this theme song taught me some Chinese
+M. Robinosn Me too great show
+free candy under my rock catchy intro
Currently 18 and this show just popped into my head. Damn this takes me back to happier days
Today, after not thinking of this show for 20 years or more, the song popped into my head, and here I am.
I KNEW I WASNT IMAGINING A WEIRD CAT IN MY RANDOM THOUGHTSSSSS
mznbhd BOIIII SAME
Holy hell core memory unlocked! I remember watching this when I was a kid
I somehow remembered this show just now as a child having such fond memories but most of them have faded away, thank you for this video.
The nostalgia!!!! I remember adoring this show when I was younger!
OMFG THIS SHOW WAS MY EVERYTHING
THE NOSTAGIA IT BURNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This just gave me a fierce flashback, Jesus Christ.
I used to watch this everyday when I was little
I had to look up what they're singing. :D Apparently the Chinese part is
Good friend
Good friend
Fool is my good friend.
Yes, Sagwa or 傻瓜 (Shǎguā) means fool. :D
LOL
+Sammyyam love your profile pic! And 😂😂 about sagwas name
Kaitlyn York thanks haha
Actually, the acurate translation is:
Best friend
Best friend
Sagwa is my best friend.
You were pretty close. (Source: I'm getting my AA in Chinese Studies)
RigoFX, haha. Okay. I'm more of a Japanese oriented person. Even though I'm studying German as my major.
this show was always so peaceful and adorable
I remember watching this at my great grandma’s house a lot. PBS was one of the only channels she could get but I didn’t care. I miss her a lot and remembering this show and looking it up has brought back so many memories.
when I saw the thumbnail, I was like, "Hey have I seen this show before?" when I clicked the video I was like "holy crap I haven't seen this show in a long ass time!"
I said the same thing.
me too
This just popped into my mind out of nowhere. I tried to find it years back. I loved this as a kid.
Fun story:
When I visited "The Wilderness" or "Wisconsin Dells", I remember seeing a little bit of an episode or two once or twice going thier. This was way after the show ended (probably between 2006 and 2008). I also remember in-between the episode was a real life scene of a girl at a window looking at the moon (I think the moon had a face). Also, it was on something called "Sprouts". I couldn't find it for a while, but the few memories I have still stay with me.
Anything: *exists*
Fufu: *bumps into it*
Is it only me or did those noodles always make you hungry
Make out Tactics the guy with noodles is look at this dude
thank you! I have always rememdered the winter/water/silly melon episode and grew up loving these.
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one to remember this show. Literally everyone I brought this up to has no recollection of this show, which is a shame because it was great!
My 1st anime
Right!^
This is a cartoon not an anime 😂
It's a dead meme@@Dezii777
@@gaius5901 anime literally means cartoon tho
Gung bojog While I can agree, anime is made in Japan. Sagwa is both Chinese,Canadian and American.
I used to watch this when I was smaller, and I wanted a siamese cat named Sagwa... Actually, I still would like a Siamese cat named Sagwa.
(Okay, this really ruins your childhood, even mine considering that I'm Chinese myself:) Realize that Sagwa is a slang that means "insane person". Literally means "melon head", but it's usually a negative term to call someone. The more you know. Now you can use that to call someone, just not to name a cat.
greenmeanie Wow... Right in the childhood :(.! Now I gotta think up of a new name for a Siamese cat then. Thank you for telling me.
greenmeanie growing up and remembering this show, it makes me think if sagwa is supposed to be Korean, because her name will translate to "Apple" instead, and seeing the the characters' clothing somehow identical to traditional Korean clothing
Nostalgia is good for mental health. WHY IS THIS NOT AVAILABLE ON PBS KIDS???? They have Mister Roger's, OG Clifford, Cyber Chase, & Sid the Science Kid. We need Sagwa! A lost/hidden gem of my childhood.
Oml, this was one of my favorite PBS shows as a lil tiny kid, oh so many memories
My god, the nostalgia is starting to come and I'm having flashbacks of other shows from back then, time to go on a trip full of nostalgia and tears
My goodness, I remember this!! I could never find it throughout the years, but I'm glad to see it hasn't been completely forgotten. :D
😲 i remember this show when i was a little kid i would get supper excited about this show sometimes i kinda miss the early 2000s they had some really good shows then like bill ny the science guy cyberchace and dragon tails then you had skunkfu on Saturday morning among other good shows im 22 years old and you actually brought some nostalgia to me along with a tear of joy
Nostalgiagasm
as soon as i saw the thumbnail the nostalgia went off. such a cute show
I was just thinking about Sagwa recently. Convenient that this popped up on my recommendations!
why can't they bring back our childhood for the kids today in this generation? :(
Robbie Rotten they will eventually and exploit it
I remember this. When I was a kid I had a quite a few Chinese friends and this show was young me’s intro into learning more about their culture. I loved this show back then.
Dude I got goosebumps hearing this! Unlocked a memory I didn’t even know I had!
Oh wow no wonder this show was so good, Amy Tan is one of the most famous Chinese-American authors!
One of the best shows ever. I always called it "The China Cats" since I couldn't remember the name of it since I was so little. Then in 2016, years later, I just typed it in not expecting much and this came up. So happy to find this again.
I was a bit old for it when it came out but I'd watch it by times when I was stressed and just needed a friendly place to relax
Omg I feel so nostalgic right now. I used to love this show. I completely forgot about it
Ever sinced some of us watched this show we heard these familiar voices:
Sagwa= Fern
Dongwa= D.W
Sheegwa= Vicita
Papa Miao= Mr. Ratburn/Bionic Bunny
Mama Miao= Bizti Baxter
*jaw drops* Holy Hera, That is absolutely correct!!!
Mary, Miss Martin, Miss Feeny and Lil and Neille's Mom

George Jamell
Lou Lou, Tessa, Gertie Green Bean and Gloria Goode Darling
