  • This club made HISTORY in the 1997/98 season of the Champions league by becoming the first of their kind... however, the club in question no longer exist! This is the story of the club representing Slovakia's second largest city of Kosice, along with a VIP tour at the promising phoenix club from one of their former legends!

It's always cool to learn a bit of Champions League history

Košice were the first slovak team to reach the group stages, however, before the group stages were even introduced, there were several slovak teams that reached further rounds during the czechoslovak era, the most succesful being Spartak Trnava, which was eliminated in the semi-finals against Cruyff's Ajax in the 1968/69 season. Furthermore, Čermeľ was only supposed to be their provisional stadium for a few years. Their original stadium, Všešportový areál, had a capacity of around 30 000 people and they stopped playing there only a year before the champions league participation.

sadly not, it was quite expensive and part of family history so there's a bit of sentimental value in it 😅 however they do release similar orange modern kits as their away kit!
