Yeah I relate to her a lot and trauma therapy can do wonders for making you more comfortable in your body and being intimate with people, but also the other person needs to feel safe and be caring, and will hopefully notice when you are triggered and stop to comfort you. It is possible, there's nothing wrong with you, and you deserve someone who can make you feel safe.
I’ve noticed you ask “How do you feel about that advice?” And “how does that resonate with you?” more frequently as you wrap up calls. Signs for great advice-giving, Miles! 💛💛

The second call made me genuinely so sad for her 😭 I hope she dumped his ass. I wanted her to break up with him while on the phone with you guys my god. The whole sobbing mid hookup thing sounds like a trauma response… I’ve dealt with something very similar, and you gotta be gentle with yourself and only engage in intimacy with somebody you really trust to be gentle with you too.

All I could hear about his “good points” were starting signs of him possibly being manipulative. He heard about her interests and was like “oh me too.” He heard about her boundaries and was like “I totally understand.” Anyone can say those things, but this guy did NOT back up that talk.

This is literally what I was thinking!! I've believed before that I'm bad at communicating my needs, because the people around me (my parents, my sister, this fuckass boy from college) weren't respecting my boundaries.
I thought they were so generous and understanding, so the problem must lie in myself. Turned out I was communicating just fine all along, and the truth was that these people were deliberately ignoring me. Can't help but think it's a similar situation for Gatherer.

Can't wait for the stream!!! And if you're hosting on youtube, be aware that they don't save/archive VODs over 12 hours so definitely break your stream up into a couple of segments instead of doing one continuous run (or record it separately yourself) if you want to save that footage! I know other creators who have lost hours of footage of marathon streams because over that 12 hour mark, it's just gone :(

I loved the get real conversation at the end. My grandpa wrote an autobiography back in 2001 that I've been reading now as an adult. He died in 2013, so having a view into his thoughts has been so incredible. It's so cool that the internet can do that in different ways for future generations

I discovered this podcast April 2023, when I was in the midst of my finals months of college (took me 6 years to graduate, it was a BATTLE). this was what I'd listen to on my evening walks, as my 'treat' after spending all day researching & writing. and when I finally crossed the finish line, this podcast became a small but distinct part of my first steps into post-grad life.
it's been awesome following this podcast and watch how it's grown in the past year; and there's something a bit precious to me about how your work connects to such a distinct period in my life.

And this would make it easier for us non-binary people to not risk getting a gendered fake name. I do love that a lot of fake names are objects/random words like “Scramble” or “Blueberry”. But I would be embarrassed to get a feminine fake name. ❤❤❤

My phone was stolen recently, and one of the things I'm saddest to lose from it is a voicemail from my parents a few years ago. They had just gotten a new truck that allowed them to talk on their phone hands free through the truck itself. It is the most adorable boomer thing you've ever heard, and I loved that it meant I would always have something sweet to remember their voices. I'm not sure if voicemails carry over with my account to a new phone or not. I just got a "new to me" phone in the mail yesterday. I suppose I find out today after work.
