    For your breakdown cheat sheet that you take to the bank, if you color over the sharpie with a dry erase marker it works so much better than alcohol! Especially if the sharpies been on there awhile.

    WARNING!!!!
    Driving with low fuel levels can cause damage to your fuel pump. The fuel itself acts as a coolant. Keeping the pump from running hot. So even though you don't like filling up and not quite making it to a full tank. It's best not to allow your tank to get so low. Cost of a new fuel pump can set you back somewhere between $600-$1000! I have heard it recommended not going below 30 Miles to Empty. This way there is enough fuel to cover pump.

    Girl you almost got all of the bills going the right way!!! I saw 2 $1 bills in groceries... I think and another $1 in one of your sinking funds... sorry... I’m old... I notice these things!!!
    So happy for you on getting stuff paid down. I will say that my envelopes have truly given me peace of mind as well. I have saved up a good amount for my van... needs oil stuff done... and I have CASH to pay for it. My kids both needed cash this week for school stuff and I was able to take it from their envelope. It’s amazing how much this system has helped. Keep it up girl... you’re so close!!!

    I have a recommendation when it comes to your bills. We have a seperate account, with a seperate debit card that is specifically for bills. That way when we are paid instantly we transfer the amount needed to our "Bills" account. We also do the envelope system, but its just for sinking funds as well as groceries/gas. This has helped immensely, and has given us reassurance about not missing payments since its on auto withdrawal. There is no temptation to spend our "bills" as it is a seperate debit card. :)

    • @saraashkir5793
      @saraashkir5793 Před 5 lety +1

      I think Kayla means that since it's a separate debit card just for bills, you don't even need to bring the card, you can leave it in a safe and never take it out. I think Alyssa has mentioned that she keeps her debit card on her in case of emergencies, so for this, she can still have her regular emergency card, and not worry about the bills as they're on a separate card.

    I normally keep two separate checking accounts: One strictly for my bills (automatically debited), and the other for my everyday spending. This way it won't get tempting to use a debit card for my "bills" account. I will have to say though, I LOVE the envelope system because you can set money aside via the sinking funds. It's so nice seeing you do the snowball payment. What a great feeling to pay off your debts! Dave Ramsey would be very proud! On a side note: Would it help you by placing a checkmark next on your journal as you stuff your envelopes?

    Just wanted to say that I love your channel girl. I did the cash envelope system from 2010-2013 to help my then husband and I to get out of debt. It really does work! Since then I have divorced him and ended up with a little debt after the divorce. You motivated me to go back into the cash envelope system to get rid of my car note, phone note, and baby student loan. Thanks for the inspiration!
    Quick Question: Do you keep track of receipts, or what you spend in your envelopes? Or just when the money’s gone its gone, and it doesn’t matter what you spent it on as long as its within category? I’m tracking this month to see if there is any places I can cut back, but I don’t know if I will next month or not.

  • @morganslife1536

    I want to start doing this out I’m at cross roads. I have a lot of credit cards I want to start paying off. I don’t know where to begin. I also have a negative getting loans from check in go. I’m relying on that to get me threw the month it’s horrible! I pay them back and then I get it right back to pay other bills.

    I am so glad you mentioned paying off your phone as part of your debt snowball, I totally forgot about mine too! I think mine is only $30 a month, but still, it'll be nice to get that paid off ASAP! I love that you take cash out for everything, I know I would be too lazy to go to the bank! haha. I just transfer half of my bills into savings every paycheck and then have a reminder in my phone to transfer it to checking the day before it comes out. I also envy that you only take out $40 a paycheck for spending, I take $150.... lol. But I am working to take it down!

    Hi Alyssa, first I would like to congratulate you on this budgeting work of yours! Thank you for sharing this with all of us. I just started to see your videos last night and I love them! I would like to start doing the CES System myself to have a better management in my finances and to get rid of some debts. However, I still have a "silly" question for you (if I may): How to START it... literally! I guess I'm worried on how you adapted this system to your bills the very first time when maybe there were some unfinished payment by the time you started (if what I am saying makes any sence to you, of course). I guess I am wondering how to apply this system when you still have this to take care of. Maybe you really get the full thing working after the first couple of paychecks, I guess. Hope you understand my question and I applaud you for all this great job you are doing! It makes all the payments and the savings seem a lot easier than what they really are (at least for me). Thank you and may God bless you!!

I suck at adulting & I lost my $50 grocery envelope 👍🏼 lol so I decided to just only do cash for my sinking funds and keep the rest in my account since my bills were already in there because they get auto paid and my bank is far away I can’t go whenever it’s going to come out. Anyway I downloaded the “Every Dollar” app which is by Dave Ramsey and I track my expenses there for the money that’s in my account but goes towards groceries, clothing, gas etc because your girl cannot seem to stop losing cash lol Because I’m not used to having cash on me since like HS lol so it’s still kind of the same system I still know what I’m spending from every category and how much I have left but I have to look at the app to see how much each has left before buying. Hopefully it works out lol
