  • This is one of the pieces from a NCAC Concert in Northport, Michigan. The piece is "Queen of Love" composed by John Philip Sousa. It was only published in a magazine (Home Companion) and arranged by John Laverty. The Echo Cornet is extremely rare and expensive. Enjoy. The Echo Cornet was played by Vince DiMarino.

I've only just discovered the echo cornet! This is the second time hearing it played and I love it. Thanks for posting this!

Very nice! How does the echo effect on this instrument work?

I believe it has a valve that redirects the air to a muted bell.

@@aidanknox2430 Thank you, I didn't see such a muted bell.

@@dbadagna what looks like tubing under his left hand is actually a small opening of the muted bell.

@@williamjones778 Thank you--is the bell actually facing his chest? Because what we see projecting out toward the audience looks to taper to about 1 cm in diameter.

@@dbadagna no that opening that is very small is the direction it projects. The mute needs a small opening so that it actually quiets it down. Same as like an actual straight mute, it only allows a small amount of air out to dampen the sound.
