      I've had a large number of headphones and I think my favourites are definitely the Sennheiser HD6xx and the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO. HD6xx for Mixing and DT770 for tracking. Got a pair of ATH-M50x but the pads and band let them down for my own use

    Great video! Usually I don't like it when there's off-topic stuff in a video review and skip right to the important parts, but in this case it was somehow interesting enough to keep watching through.
    Also got a big head and was mostly wondering about the wearing comfort between these two, so that was very insightful, thanks. :)

    I recently purchased a new headset (ATH-M50xBT) and noticed that it has a p65 (Proposition 65 Cancer and Reproductive harm) warning on the back of the box. I looked at several other Audio Technica headsets and many of them seemed to carry this warning. Is anyone familiar with this warning or why it would be listed on so many of the AT products? Should I send mine back? I got it at B&H. This warning label is located in the back of the box. Also did your box come with a plastic cover for the headphone box? Mine didn’t! Just a box

    I used to have the AT M70x and I loved them but they broke on me twice so I gave up on them.
    I have dt650 pro seinesser vans semi open for reference which are super accurate for mixing

      I have not! I don’t do any mixing on headphones, so it may not make sense for me but I think the work they’re doing is cool! Especially for home studios that have treatment issues.

    0:55 oh i see we’re having the same issue with this headband. What did you do or use for the old crumbly headband ?
    Nice video, I’m in a similar situation with my old ath-m50, I need a new pair. I really like audio technica, and never thought about the m60. The fact it’s lighter could be very nice. But I was hesitating between this one and the beyer dt770... 🤔

    Is there a reason why your logo looks like a Freemason logo? As for music stores I'm in the UK and there is only 1 store HMV that sell Headphones and the only production ones are the Audio Technica M20,30,40,50,60 X range I'm not sure which to buy but I'm thinking 40 but is not because of budget however I do want value for My money.

  • @jacobfisher94
    @jacobfisher94 Před 4 lety +12

    My preference between GC & Sam Ash really depends on the store. I have been to some GC’s that were great and some that were trash. Same goes for Sam Ash. So I think for me personally, it just depends on the store and location.
    Unrelated side note: looks like you went to the Sam Ash in Goodlettsville (correct me if i’m wrong), but that stores drum department is a joke. They basically have no drum department lol.

    Sennheiser HD280 pro. I also have M50s but I much prefer the HD280. I honestly don’t know if one’s “flatter” or whatever but I know my 280s and I like how they sound and how they feel.

  • @rome8180
    @rome8180 Před 4 lety +4

    I always use Sennheiser open back headphones. I've had the HD 555, 558, and 598 model. They are incredibly comfortable and clear sounding. The only thing you have to be careful about is their lack of low end if you're making mixing decisions using them.

    • @rome8180
      @rome8180 Před 4 lety +3

      Also, they have a 1/4" inch jack, which I prefer because that's what my interface has. Saves me having to worry about faulty adapters.

    If I don't need to test anything, I prefer Amazon or Sweetwater with Amazon being the go-to. I get it the next day due to being a Prime member. Being a drummer, I LOATHE buying cables. I've been looking for new headphones like the $299 Blue Headphones because of their built and recommendation for Warren Huart.

    Just tried these out in store yesterday...the 60s are well worth the upgrade / price difference. Were way more comfortable on my ears (even a lot of high end headphones will give me ear pain) compared to the 50s, and even though they're smaller they just fit a lot better and leak significantly less sound. Sound quality was definitely more robust and well rounded.

    The two things that look concerning about the M60's are 1. the exposed cables coming from the ear pieces and the durability of the connection between the headband and earpieces, that looks quite flimsy.

    @shred5 Před 2 lety

    I had a pair of original model ATH-M50s for 14 or 15 years. A few weeks ago, I stepped on them, and last week they broke (related? probably). So I borrowed my son's M50X's and unfortunately, they are not the same. The headband is narrower, the earcups aren't as comfortable, there is no soundstage is small, the mid-high bass and high treble is pronounced and the high mids and low and mid treble is reduced. The originals were definitely superior in virtually every way possible except the lack of a detachable cable.
    Debating if I want to try the M60s, Shure SRH840 or SRH940s or maybe Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros. I'm largely leaning away from the DT770s because I hear the 80ohm or 250 ohm versions are superior to the 32 ohm version but right now I need a decent set that works on everything, so maybe later I'll pick up the 80 or 250 version.

    to be honest, why buy M50X at all? When I decided to buy a pair, i went in the store and ask for a M50-and an M40 and tested both of them. In the end I picked M40. very similar but M50x were actually hurting. The sound coming out from M50x was actually hurting my ears. That may be overlooked at 3$ headphones, maybe 5$ headphones if we are generous, but not 150$
