The problem is that Riot needs to fulfill their "skin bimbos per skinline" quota where every skinline they want to milk needs a certain amount of champs who have way to many skins anyways...best example is Inkshadow...did we need 3 edgy swordsmen and Kaisa who all got way too many skins anyways? Absolutely not. Did Riot even stop and consider who could be better fitting for the skinline? Hell no, did you not see how much they did Udyr dirty?

Akali in Coven was genuinely the biggest head scratcher for me
Akali, the Streetwear Ninja, as a high fashion witch?
The next biggest head scratcher was why Streetwear Ninja girl was in Coven, and then the Light Sorceress girl was in Soul Fighter
It’s like they got swapped. SoulFighter Akali and Coven Lux would have been perfect fits. And I know plenty of Lux mains have been asking for Coven Lux for a while now

People will say "Akali doesn't fit in the Coven skinline" without actually LOOKING at the universe as a whole.
Consider the Eclipse Knights (the ones fighting against the Coven). Look at Lunar Eclipse Senna. The Eclipse Knights are changing and evolving. The Coven, too, needs to embrace change or else they'll fall behind. They, too, need to break from tradition and welcome new ideas.
THAT is what Coven Akali brings to the table.
Personally as someone who plays a lot of akali I want to see her in a different thematic then streatwear it’s gets old very quick when you have only streetwear skins, I personally like Covid akali and feel like the hate is disproportionate to the actual quality of the skin.

I get the hate / disappointment for the Prestige, since it's trying to be high-fashion design of a theme that already is high-fashion (probably why it ends up just looking like a Crime City Nightmare prestige in aesthetic), but the actual skin itself is perfectly fine. It fits the skinline's theme, and the champion themself also fits the skinline once you realise that 'witch' is extremely broad in the skinline. An assassin who can use magic to improve their capabilities makes sense, and it fits with how her abilities in-game work if you think about it (smoke bomb can just become a magical ability instead, as can throwing multiple kunai).

One thing i talked about with my friends that would make soul fighter samira KINDA worth the price is making so that when there is ultimate samira in-game the game narrator would change into the arena soul fighter one, it would be pretty cool. Obviously it would have a toggle for people who didnt want to change it but it was an idea i had that i thought would be cool
Lame. I made her a sound mod where her guns have Devil Trigger Nero voice lines and her sword have Devil Trigger Dante voice lines added to them. Also giving the style ranks the DMC Style Announcer and the Silver Bullet OST. The mod is called Soul Fighter Samira Deluxe Edition.
Night/Dawn is such a disappointment because it WAS cool at one point. Yasuo's skin might be lack luster but Riven's was pretty good and the skinline peaked with God King Darius and Garen. God King might be the best two skins in the game.
Riot should have just kept it an exclusive Rivals event where two champions who are enemies in the lore duke it out and get legendaries.
Nasus and Renekton should have been an easy slam dunk but Riot chose the easy route and water the skinline down to nothing.

You should've mentioned Dawnbringer Soraka. Possibly one of the best skin in game, most Soraka mains couldn't buy and use anyother skin bc how good that skin was.
@@EphiphanyEphiphany I think it's good on a technical level but it marks the watering down of the skinline to me. It strays really far from the VS theme and shows the exact point Riot chose looking cool over how the skinline functioned as a special event.
If Night/Dawn Soroka was the third Legendary skin between two other characters fighting for her favor, it would have been perfect. I just felt like Riot made a cool skin first without considering why night/dawn was so cool as a skinline.
Honestly it makes me sad that they didn't explore more ideas for the Cosmic Paladin Sion skin. Like they could have made his soul furnace into a nebula/stellar nursery, literally have him ignite stars in the wake/trail of his Ult. Could have really sold the "creation through destruction" idea really well.

Counterpoint: Sion's W passive gives him HP for farming. Having the black hole furnace translates to he sucks in matter into the black hole and this leads to greater size and power. His black hole axe chops away at the surrounding area, erasing entire solar systems in a single swing. Sion dies when the matter containing the black holes are compromised and he's left in a frenzied state, trying to destroy as much as possible before he too is consumed by the black hole that he's possessed.
When the coven rumor first came out I kept telling people Akali felt like a horrible choice and people kept saying "nah it could work, she's gonna look so cool" and I feel so vindicated to see everyone hate the skin once it came out
I'm Akali main and I hate coven skin (and skin line) and I knew that skin will be ugly as hell

Soul Fighter Samira is such a sad case because I genuinely love that skin. It's the skin I rock on Samira. But it is so ludicrously overpriced that i feel bad for anyone who buys it.

Yeah it's one of the best skin in the game and easily Samira's best skin. But it's the one skin that I will never buy and only planning to reroll for it because it's so obvious that it was not intended as an Ultimate skin

Immortal Journey Zeri and Street Demon Mundo should have been swapped.
Why would you add a gun character to the sword themed skin line? Meanwhile Mundo's big cleaver would have worked for Immortal Journey. Make him a martial zombie or just a big dumb muscle cultivator who has skipped out on learning how to use the sword in favor of getting more muscles. And Zeri's gun and costuming would have fit street demons amazingly. Make her gun a paintball gun, make her E leave a trail of spray painted lightning, and you would have had a banger skin. Street Demon Mundo isn't bad but I can't help but feel like they were swapped for some reason. Same vibe I see a lot of other people get from Coven Akali and Soul Fighter Lux.
Is Nightbringer Nasus redundant? Yes. But unfortunately playing with Infernal Nasus feels super clunky. And the skin itself is still really pretty. But I hope Nasus gets put in a better skin line this year.

I am so glad Graves did not have a skin this year, the closest skinline I want for Graves was Soul Fighter and La Ilusion, but other than that, I could not see him fit in any other skinline released this year.
As a Xayah main, it hurts to see her on this list. And as Coven Stan, Yeah Akali did threw me off.
The concept of a Witch who rebelled against their God became rogue is interesting but the execution flopped. It would have been better to have her a bit more cursed looking than her other sisters for betraying her patron.😊
I'm fairly certain her lore in that skin-line is that she was lost in the Elderwood when she was younger, and ended up being able to escape by basically giving herself into the Coven. She's an Assassin; her skills would perfectly fit in with their organisation.

honestly, as a xayah main too, I see her being on the list as justified. I concept of the skin (seen in splashart) looks so cooler w more of a veil than hood, but the ingame model doesn't portray that at all... The vfx for that skin is nice though but I wouldn't buy it.

Nicky, I will say:: I think you were thinking a little bit too simple with the Cosmic Sion. The skin should of been a legendary skin, and instead of a black hole, it should of been THE SUN! His Q could of been a super nova effect pattern, and his ult makes him look like a massive speeding meteor. That when he ends, creates a galaxy. Could of been called: Galaxy Sion.
I think my biggest issue with the cosmic skins is that ALL of them could've worked in darkstar instead and people like it better anyways

I for one would love to see something where it's Nasus and Renekton as one side of a skin line with Azir and Xerath on the other. I feel like making the enemies into allies just to fight other people from their region (of course it would be changed to not be Shurima) would be a great way to have enemies team up.
I would have thought that shiba yuumi was a missed potential. Since the skin on itself is good but, as you said, it could have been way better.

I feel like the sion skin is a primo exemple of a skin that suffers from not being able to have some extra flare by being just a epic skin instead of a legendary IMO. So much stuff could be done with the whole thematic, like instead of the blue ball with nothing, maybe it has a dark star black hole contained on it, that is both preventing him from fully turning into a dark star and being a source of power he taps in, by showing on his skill like the end of Q getting progressively dark red as he charges it, taking full advantage of his skills long wind ups and ending with his passive being the dark hole consuming him and his respawn being him resuppressing the black hole back again.

I have noticed for Xayah, they DO NOT change her shiluette. She always has that dress that is longer on one side. They never change that. And I think if they gave her a long dress that is maybe slit at the sides for her legs or something for the covenant skin it would actually do something. But I feel for xayah, the have a skin Rakan looks amazing in but it needs a xayah so here she is in different colors

I think Nasus would also be a missed potential skin, since it was released way too close from the corrupted skinline on LOR (what if Nasus, Renekton, Azir and Xerath became darkin). To me, it would be one of the best Nasus skin.

Also the reason why Coven Akali doesn't work is because her character is at odds with the concept. Coven is all about high fashion and feminine power expressed through domineering, dark colors with brighter highlights in gold and white. Akali is all about rebelling youthhood, a young, capable person held back by stuffy rules who goes out and does her own thing.
You can't jam a skin line all about dominating, ruling women, into a character which fundamentally is a rebel.

I got the 200 Dollar Dark Star Jhin Chroma as a joke on stream and if I play it I get an instant dodge, it's very useful.

Soul Fighter Samira is one of those skins that reminds me, at the end of the day, Riot Games is a corporation. No matter how talented and down the earth their workers may be, they are powerless at the grand scheme of things. Just really unfortunate.
