    Love the ideal lighting conditions timing. Interesting comparison for proper timings with variations of each stones and zones that we are located.

      Thank you ~ it's a subtle thing that has a powerful impact, so its both importat to communicate, but also difficult to show XD. I'm glad you enjoyed Nash.

    I look forward to every presentation. The amount of information you share is amazing. I only hope I can remember a little of what you have said the next time I get to shop. When I see sparkle my brain tends to disengage 🤩. Maybe next time I’ll be more analytical.

      Thank you Leah ~ What I can say is: the more you look, hold and buy, the more you know. Experience is bought using many types of currency. I heard a lecture once about the Knights of Camelot, and evidently, on the search for the Holy Grail, they had to enter the woods in the place that seemed darkest to THEM. So don't worry about the things you don't control, but jump into that place and learn about it ^_^ Shine bright~!

    Awesome stuff! Can you also do a video about buying rough and unpolished stones?

      Thanks very much. Rough/ crystals are a niche I would like to talk about more, but the right samples must be acquired first. It is not simple, nor easy.

      Although it makes more sense that we are on a flat earth with the official narrative that the sun is 93million miles away, I doubt a bit of planet rotation would shift the light spectrum as much as it does! Science!

      @@ameliavanderberg9543 The value is in the question, more than in the answer i'd say. I value stones for many reasons, but one of those is that stones give me a lot of new questions.

      HI Evan~ thanks. Its a combination of things: being a drama kid since forever and then going and teaching English as a foreign language for near a decade. There's a learning curve, so you do have to think about it at the beginning to make it more "meaningful", but eventually it just becomes a part of how you communicate and becomes closer to 80% automatic. Cheers

    Thnx, very informative. What can you tell about a pocket light to look at gems and minerals with a focused beam of light?

    • @GemologyforSchmucks
      @GemologyforSchmucks  Před 3 lety +2

      I'm glad you enjoyed it Stapel. Any strong lightsource has its uses for revealing certain things about gems. In lab settings we often use intense and focused halogen fiber optic lights. There are 2 things you should keep in mind when using "any random light." The colour will not be the same as daylight, so don't judge colour from random light sources. Second, some light sources are so intense that they make it difficult to see subtle inclusions in the stone. Varying light sources (colour, intensity, and angles) is important.
      Cheers~

    What does AG stand for?

    • @GemologyforSchmucks
      @GemologyforSchmucks  Před rokem +1

      A.G. stands for "accredited gemologist", which is the credential that AIGS issues. It's comparable to GIA's GG (graduate gemologist) or Gem-A's FGA. Each program has its advantages.

    What is the best time to look for an orange diamond in natural light?

    • @GemologyforSchmucks
      @GemologyforSchmucks  Před 3 lety +1

      I would go for somewhere between 10:00 to 14:00. Most diamonds are graded in artificial daylight lamps for consistency of grading worldwide. The quality and colour of light at 10am in Norwegian December is going to be quite different from that here in Bangkok at the same time, or heaven forbid 10am in Argentinian December when they're getting more direct summer light and daylight hours. Science!

      @@GemologyforSchmucks So between 10:00 and 2:00 in The Philippines? I live in the Philippines I noticed my orange diamond look best before the crack of dawn and after sunset it looks very orange🍊in the dark.

    • @GemologyforSchmucks
      @GemologyforSchmucks  Před 3 lety +1

      @@pumpkindiamond994 Those times would be ideal for getting an idea of the "true colour" of the stone. In intense light (12 noon) our eyes are more sensitive to reds and near dawn and dusk (earlier and later in the day) our eyes are more sensitive to blues. I expect this characteristic of the eye is connected to why your diamond looks so majestic at those times you mentioned~ Congratulations on having such an awesome treasure eh! I also love orange :D
