In the early sixties, I used to go to a place called "The Drift Inn" in Malibu in order to hear Mr. Shank and his superb quartette (possibly Claude Williamson on piano, but can't remember the others-might have been Red Mitchell on bass) in ridiculously beautiful circumstances. Also, went to see him at the Lighthouse in December of 1958. Pretty sure that Bob Cooper was on Tenor at the time (1958 is getting a bit hazy).
