    Welcome to my Honda Ruckus Build Series! In this series, I will be showing you the entire process of making doing a custom stretched, slammed, GY6 engine swap Ruckus/Zoomer! I'll cover parts needed, installation tips, mod suggestions and more, but most of all, having fun showing you the choices I make to build a super cool custom Ruckus!
    In this episode, Ryan and I install the 171cc Big Bore kit on the Ruckus, run into some issues with the exhaust, fix it with fire, and get this thing back on the road!
    HUGE thanks to Ryan from TheRuckShop for coming out to work on this build with me. It's been an absolute blast and it was awesome to learn a crap ton from him about this bike. Couldn't have done it without him and can't wait to have him out here in Austin again!!

    Thanks for the awesome support every day, y'all!! LET'S TRY TO HIT 10K LIKES!! Thought I'd answer some common questions from the comments. I'll edit this as I see more FAQs.
    1. *Speedometer app?* - I'm using DigiHUD Speedometer (Android) in this vid
    2. *Why didn't you install the big bore to start with (while the motor was out)?* - Wanted to make sure that there wasn't anything wrong with the motor itself first (helps eliminate root causes of any problems). Also wanted to see the performance gain between the stock GY6 and the big bore and 28mm carb
    3. *You didn't need an impact socket!!!1!1!!* - Maybe not, but the main problem was that I didn't have a 1/2" drive socket for the impact gun, so I had to use an adapter. Just caused a lot of rattling and would not allow the impact gun to provide full torque on the socket. I've always used my standard sockets with the impact gun no problem, but for this, after having the drive face come off, I just want to get every bit of punch out of it as I can :)

    The only reason you would need an impact socket would be if the chrome socket couldn't handle the impact and broke. Otherwise they both will torque the same.

    on the 150 you were still probably using the diaphragm type carb, that carb gives a delayed response on the power. with the d type piston carb that you have installed, that gives almost an instant response in power and that's why you have such a difference in feel in the motor.

    Very cool narrated tutorial. New subscriber here as we've had 3 stock 49cc Ruckus and 3 stock Metropolitans for almost 10yrs (big family of four four boys, wife and I). I never did an engine swap but got each one up to around 35mph on the flats with polini variator, kevlar belt, sliders/rollers, k&n filters, replace carb jets and drilling out the stock exhausts with 2ft long 1" drill bits. Alwys wanted to do an Elite80cc swap but those are hard to come by and I don't like how (at least frm what I've heard and have done a little research) that you can't get a big bore kit for these 49cc's. I love the 4 strokes though so that's what we never delved into a Gy6 build... curious as to why you're not gaining more top end though on such a bigger stroke replacement. Perhaps it's more torque but even with possibly replacing our oldest ruckus that has its real wheel bearings going out with a used 170cc Vespa, that bike is claiming to hit almost 70mph. Not criticizing here at all, just curious why you're not getting more power and return on such a big change. Mad kudos to your Ruckus though.... looks nice and the hard work looks like it's paid off well.

    Moto what do you mean by carb? I'm guessing its something to do with the throttle response and how quick the bike accelerates cos I think I noticed a difference in like the engine repsonse time or something. It was like a moped where there is a power delay but when your ruckus' carb got altered it had power to use straight away

    Impact sockets are just made of a more malleable steel... standard chrome ones are a bit brittle more likely to break from impact guns... that being said I have used standard ones for years and never had a problem. It doesn’t matter to much what ones you use in the grand scheme.

    Thank you for FINALLY getting an impact socket, I'm ashamed of how much it bothered me to see you using regular sockets on the impact

    if you're building the ruckus from the ground up, why didnt you do the big bore from the beginning ? did you want to make sure it ran first ?

  • @71bagarn
    @71bagarn Před 7 lety

    What kinda torque do you need to tighten that nut with if you need a impact socket?

  • @azeckhd524
    @azeckhd524 Před 7 lety

    I personally don't really like the look of it (it's not my type of bike so that's why), but when you ride on it and we get to see it from the rider's view, man it looks sexy, so damned low to the ground too!

    • @motonosity
      @motonosity  Před 7 lety

      +Azeck HD I know! It's kinda crazy how low it is. Never ridden anything close to this haha
