Be interesting if you could make a video on how to get the best pint/taste from a nitrosurge can (pouring techniques, refrigerator temperature, glass temperature etc..) I often notice if I leave my can out the fridge from 30-40 minutes before pouring, the head will stay consistent to the end.. Also clean your glass or use a different glass after every pour otherwise it'll affect the taste.
Yes temperature is very important and also fresh glass with very little detergent used and must be washed from glass as it will spoil the head formation. The reason I know this is I was involved in the first release of Guiness on mixed gas.
Right here's the score, the guinness device actually puts finely calibrated ultra sonic vibrations through the beer which activates the gases and forms consistent sized bubbles for the perfect head. Definitely, but they know they can milk money from the 6 packs sadly. Wish they'd repay the customers a favour, most people I know that drink Guinness are extremely loyal customers mostly only drinking Guinness when they're out
My pal brought a pack pf these to me. I thought they were just normal cans . He didn't get the gismo. So I drank them. Thought they were a bit flat but drank them anyway anyway.
Guinness uses a nitrogen/CO2 blend of gas to push the beer through the lines rather than just CO2 like a traditional draft beer system. It's that mixed Nitrogen gas that gives Guinness its tell-tale creamy, tight head. This mixed gas blend comes in a Nitrogen gas tank that contains 75% nitrogen and 25% CO2. I think its well worth trying out a can or two of the widget cans with the nitrosurge device and see if its an even better home pint of Guinness.
I've done that myself fella. I get good results. Saying that, I use what's called the 'pin trick' (youtube it for a proper play-by-play) which involves piercing the top of the can first with a pin and slowly releasing the gas first, so the widget doesn't do it's thing. Then run it through the nitrosurge device. I preface all of this by saying that I am generally very inconsistent at pouring straight from a can, so it's entirely possible as well that if nothing else, the nitrosurge spout is at the very least ensuring that I am pouring it consistently and steadily every time.
Using both will give you an extremely thin head and watery pint. The only way to get around this is to use the pin prick to release most of the gas and then use the nitro surge. Still not as good as using the intended cans
This might be a stupid question guys, but can you use the nitrosurge with an ordinary Guiness can? My sister bought me one of these but I live in Dubai and they don’t sell the Nitrosurge cans here 👎🏻
