This video was shot on March 30, 1972, and here Elvis Presley rehearses the ballad Separate Ways. This is an Outtake from the Elvis On Tour documentary released in 1972 which won a Golden Globe for best documentary.

And there were /are more. Michael Hutchence, Jef Boucly, Celine Dion, George Michael, Leonard Cohen, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbinson ... just a few of them I have "konwn" . Definitely my favorite part. He called hitting a low note at the end of tunes a "56' ending". He would say, "JD, give me a 56' ending". Elvis was a bass singer trapped in a tenor's body.

Elvis took on some really difficult and meaningful songs after his comeback. Other songs from this era include "Suspicious Minds", "If I Can Dream", "In The Ghetto", "I'll Remember You", "Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues". In my opinion, this was his greatest era.

He and his music is helping me in the last couple of month through the dead of my beloved mom. She past away 4 months ago and she was the person which introduced me to his music 40 years ago.

Red West wrote this song for Elvis to help him realize the reason why he and Priscilla was breaking up....but letting him know his relationship is unbreakable with Lisa Marie. My mom worked with Elvis for many years until his death. She knew the meaning of this song. Elvis didn't like singing this song because it made him sad to hear the true meaning of the words. He only recorded it...but never sang it in concert or on any other occasion..
I was wondering how he could sing it over and over at concerts. Now I know. He never did it at concerts. Sad.

This song was intended for Elvis. She had been leaving Elvis for a while. In his book My last life on earth, through my eyes, Elvis presley, a channeled book. In this book he mentions singing this song for Priscilla. I think 2 artist including Red West wrote this song for Elvis.

'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' to Joyce Bova.
There are many others.
'An American Trilogy' was a song Priscilla heard the first time driving down Sunset Boulevard and wanted Elvis to record---the rest is history.

I used to play my mom's records when home from school being sick and just bored. There was a stack in the living room and an old- fashioned record player. Many of the records were from Elvis and his dynamic awesome talent, that I recognized even at that young age. This was one of the songs I played over and over. To me, Elvis was the equivalent of Superman.

WOW, incredible re mastering, first time I seen this in its full version. The clarity is amazing and I love the close ups on Elvis to catch his phrasing of the words. One of my favourite songs and one of the first Elvis albums I bought at age 11 and I still have it. So many gems exist from Elvis on Tour and I am so thankful for you taking the time to remaster this to such incredible quality. Thank you .

Apart from what everyone is saying here, something I've always found interesting is Elvis' desire to record using a handheld dynamic microphone instead of a mounted condenser mic like the engineers would advise. He did things his way and perhaps with such an incredible voice, he knew best.
