I truly cannot believe the number of people who are watching this episode FOR FREE and in the 21st Century, and are still complaining. Not complaining about sound or visual quality but actually complaining about the presence of a person who is providing an essential service for those people unfortunate enough to be deaf. I found this video very interesting. I love Antiques Roadshow, and it was a treat to watch the lady signing. I am not deaf, or do not know anyone who signs... so I found this video very interesting.
All the complaining about the quality of the video because of the interpreter is incredibly stupid. Deaf people use facial expressions to get the emotion of a word across. My mom is deaf and I find it so rude when people say she looks weird or crazy when she’s signs.
The signing on this video is extremely distracting. And I'm genuinely surprised at the commenters who took offense at that totally valid observation. Many of us are great fans of the BBC version of Antiques Roadshow and to find a You Tube posting that is essentially unwatchable is very disappointing.
Candace Welsh-Payne I don’t think you understand sign language because the “faces” are a part of the language. It’s to express the words in a sentences to show the feeling of the speaker/interpreter. My mom is deaf so people always stare when she signs.
7 years later your comment is still rude why shouldn't deaf people learn the history of these objects. I am not deaf but the lady signing does not bother me in the least hopefully you have grown up a little in the 7 years since you commented......
