The macabre lamp is my favourite ( like her uncle’s)👍

I would have loved to know more about the uncle. I bet he was very flamboyant.

Love the tiny book. I remember when you got a diary, all that information about the moon etc. was there.

The man who's appraising the insect lamp sounds like he knows what he's talking about.

I wish my antique rocking chair was in better shape I'd try to sell it - it's a Crain Mother's Rocker made in 1892

I love these shows because my family is originally from Russia. Of course, they were Russian Nobilities. When the Revolution of 1917, they were in the South of France, they were extremely lucky. They had lands and money in Russia, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Italy, and France. They flew to Boston, then to Montreal Canada. They weren't poor, they built many businesses in the USA and Canada, I live in upstate NY, in a substantial home, which is full of antiquities, jewellery, and wonderful magnificent artwork, what is funny is I am a gay man and my husband is Russian from St-Petersburgh. We met online because I was searching for Fabergé-specific years, for a pair of cuff links I own, he had almost the same ones because his great-grandfather had the matching ones.

The days of not identifying something like the 'Spirit of Ecstacy' at an auction are long gone - heck anyone that enters a thriftstore today could identify nearly anything in the store with a quick pic and Google lens.

A bit sad, really... it's also caused some items to be overpriced just by the suggestion of age or style, even if they are improperly listed or described...

Yeah, it's kind of taking the fun out of it

It seems to me that it wouldn't be too hard for the BBC AR to update the pricing to today's prices on all these pieces. There is possibly 40 years difference on some of these prices....!
