  • Ever dreamed about running through the woods with a long gown flowing behind you? Well, at the very least, you can make your own gown by following along with this video.
    The items you will need to replicate this dress is:
    - A basic fitted bodice pattern (I used a princess seam pattern)
    (Mood Fabrics has "The Heather Dress" which has a good bodice base if you are looking for a free pattern... minus the ruffles and maybe change the neckline: www.moodfabrics.com/blog/the-... )
    - Circle Skirt Mood Calculator: www.moodfabrics.com/circleski... (free to use)
    - Sleeve Block: www.kirileecosplay.com/downlo... (free to download)
    - Approximately 10 meters of 150cm wide fabric
    - 1 meter of matching lining
    I made this dress for my mate Jess, otherwise known as Faestock: / faestock for her to use in her stock photography.

    Ok super random but thank you for hanging the pieces and not waiting until it’s put together and just putting it on your form.
    It’s one of the many things that have kind of made wanting to do skirts debatable for me because I don’t have room for a sewing form . And I guess I’ve never thought of just hanging it up on my shower rod 😅
    That ended up being one hell of a train in the end beautiful!

    Thank you so much for this video! I've really been into pretty dresses like this lately but sadly the prices for these kinds of dresses are not cheap. I've started sewing recently and this video really made making this dress seem attainable for me. I just might make a dress like this in the near future. Thank you! :-)

      I believe in you! I too have recently gotten into dresses like this and you're right, they are a large chunk of change to buy. But honestly the secret to a lot of them is just the quantity of fabric. It's very simple dresses with simple lines, just made with a lot of gathered fabric.

      @hannahwinters8994 Před 5 měsíci +1

    The Mood calculator doesn't work for people who have a waist measurement of 46-47". Basically comes back and says it's not possible. Been sewing for years and I have yet to find a calculator for real sized women.

    • @KirileeCosplay
      @KirileeCosplay  Před 5 měsíci

      I am sorry for that. You can do the maths yourself. It is your waist measurement / (2 x pi). That will also give you answer you need :)

    It is nice that there are tools for the circle skirt but come on....calculating a radius from an existing circumfrence really is NOT fancy maths xD..... Radius = Circumference/(2*Pi)....that is all oO but still the walkthrough is nice and the tool is cool. I was just taken aback a little by calling calculating a radius crazy xD

    • @KirileeCosplay
      @KirileeCosplay  Před 5 měsíci +2

      I would prefer to keep it simple and use the tools at my disposal, especially when some of my watchers may not know that particular formula like you and I. I would hate to make anyone feel inferior because maths isn’t their strong point.
      But hey, it’s cool that you love maths so much! Good for you!

    • @blowitoutyourcunt7675
      @blowitoutyourcunt7675 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Maths doesn't come intuitively to everyone! In fact that's why some of us are so intrigued by Victorian sewing manuals because they're less focused on mathematics and more on proportions (take 1/8 of the waist for example), it's much easier to fold a piece of fabric 8x and use that measure then it is to divide fractions of an inch! Most amazing clothing historically was patterned by proportion and to fit the individual, not using strict units of measurement - we universally didn't agree on what constituted an inch or an hour until 1-200 years ago (or so). Half the world still uses a different metric than the other, inches versus meters. The expectation that everyone can math to the same high order, is a bit too much considering we're all so diverse....
      Accepting that everybody has their own learning curve is a part of grace and maturity, you'll get there!

    • @zaranea7920
      @zaranea7920 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Ohhh okay, so it also was a question to make this as easy to follow as possible. I didn't concider this into my thinking :)
      In that regard... Yeah I can see how showing a tool like this is more accessible in the end :)!
