Drivers say some HISD buses carrying children with special needs don't have working air conditioners

- The first day of the HISD school year was touted as a “great day” of education by Superintendent Mike Miles. However, minutes into his first news conference of the school year Miles declared that there was one problem that he viewed as “unacceptable” for families, the issue of bus service that did not deliver.
This is ridiculous. This is 2024 get these buses equipped fully. It’s too hot.

He specifically said SPED routes. State of Texas requires special needs to have a/c
They had all summer to get that AC unit fixed... Shows you what their priorities are when it comes to disabled children
I didn't even know that school buses were air conditioned. We never had them when I was in school.

SPED is suppose to have a/c, regular routes aren't required. Butler has a problem with no working a/c on many busses. I can't believe he lied about not knowing about the problem. Ask anyone at Butler, the mechanics, the drivers even front office and they'll tell you it's a HUGE problem.

Not all but some. Alot of the "lower help" who did like oil changes, etc. It only put more work on the one guy who does know how to fix the a/c
As a kid we never had a/c in buses
But these are special needs routes so I'm not sure why it matters if yours had a/c or not..
Mike Miles needs to GO. He is a huge problem.
It was also a problem before his reign of Hisd but to firing mechanics just made it so much worse

My bus didn’t have a/c BACK IN THE DAY government of people in office kept all that money and was misused in the early 2000

@@AprilTeniente-eu1mjprovide them with new buses, complaining won't change anything, it's extremely scary for the bus driver because the driver sits right under the motor, so the driver is getting three times the heat than the students.
@@kristybell5671we really are. So much heat comes from below it's like sitting in a boiler. I remember the first time I was put in a no a/c bus mid May I came back crying and sweaty.😢

Please please please try and apply. We only have one guy who is certified to fix a/c on hundreds of busses. Butler is family we will treat you right especially if you fix our a/c. Lunch on me ❤
