    The reason the 3 of them sound so large is that the lead, Alex, plays like a true lead guitarist does and Geddy plays his bass like a lead guitarist would and Neil plays his drums like a lead guitarist does! They all play like there's no tomorrow all the time.!

    Great Reaction! The friendship between these three is totally genuine and the fans are the most amazing group of people! I've never met a shady Rush fan. The drummer is Neil Peart, one ofthemodt influential drummers in rock. And also one of the best lyricist as well!

    Neil wrote the lyrics for this after reading a short story in motortrend about a dystopian future where old cars are outlawed. The author ofthe story later wrote Neil and mentioned that it was his article that inspired the song and Neil ended up inviting him on a motorcycle trip followed by concert as a guest of the band.

    That rich sound comes from: Geddy Lee plays Bass and Keyboards, sings and play pedal synth sometimes WHILE singin and bassing, Alex Lifeson plays guitars AND (mostly when Geddy is not on bass) bass pedal synths and sometimes sings background vocals, and speaking of Neil Peart (R.I.P. Professor), he writes the incredible lyrics and was one of the best drummers that ever existed. So they are not called The best band in the galaxy for nothing. Saw them two times here in Germany and it was f...in awesome. (by the way Rush is the only band that Babymetal couldn't overtake in my personal ranking...and that says a lot)

  • @BalokLives
    @BalokLives Před 2 lety +1

    Rush was impossibly good live. How they were able to reproduce everything live so faithfully is a mystery to me. Geddy did struggle with the high vocals as he aged, but he never complained, and with few exceptions, never rearranged. He just forged on to the end of his career and was mostly able to continue singing the lines the way they were written. The fans were never upset because to the fans Geddy, Alex, and Neil were our friends even if we never met them. That is why so many people were devastated when Neil passed.
    That being said, new songs were written with Geddy's changing range in mind. In many ways, I thought Geddy's voice improved as he aged. It became smoother, richer and more mellow. Try listening to "The Garden" live in Dallas. You will see what I mean.

    This isn't even Geddy's vocals in his prime! Go back to their 1981 concert and you'll hear the version of this song as it was written in the same register he was capable of singing in back then. And for Neil's drum kit... it grew with the years. He had to cram 18 albums worth of percussion sounds into a kit that he could use during concerts. His studio kits were MUCH smaller than this, as they were dedicated to whatever the album they were recording was.

    Unfortunately Geddy has to strain anymore while he sings in certain registers, you should listen to the original version or an earlier live version from the 80’s or 90’s where his voice still sounds great.
    Also there various bands at the time, whose drummers had some pretty big drum kits, I think Neil just used his better in my opinion.
