I'm looking to buy this catback for my 2003 XRS. How big of a difference is the loudness compared to the stock exhaust system? Also, do you notice any gains in torque or hp? Thanks!
It's noticeably louder than stock but still smooth, not ricey. Gains.. maybe slightly. But I doubt it's much on paper. It's been about 2 years since I installed mine, just blew a hole from the rear-most hanger...
Hey man I finally got mine installed. The shop guy said that as I drive it longer it will eventually get louder and settle into the full sound. I was just wondering if you've found this to be true? Because while louder and nicer sounding than stock, it's still just a little too quiet for my taste. Thanks.
@@jarltorque4855 I sold mine about a month ago lol, but last I heard it it got a but louder but still sounded awesome. It would also pop and burble when I downshifted just right, people would turn and try to find a sports car but only saw my hatchback 😂
@@ShortGuac ah right on. I loved the sleeper feel, nobody expects the grocery-getter to take off sounding like a Gixxer! Mine got totaled in a high-speed t-bone March 2019 😭 she saved my life though. I'm in an 09 wrx hatch now. What are you driving?
@@jarltorque4855 ripperroni 😭 but the sleeper life was nice 😌👌. Nice I love the WRX hatches, I looked at a '12 sedan before I ended up getting a '10 Mazdaspeed 3. So much faster than the Trix 😂
Man I keep flipping back and forth between just getting a magnaflow muffler and maybe removing the resonator, or going catback. Have you tried it with just a magnaflow muffler or do you recommend doing a catback? I don't have any go fast mods or anything, this would be the first mod done.
The resonator really gives it the tone imo. I had an 82 corolla with a straight pipe to a twin-loop muffler, way too much brap-brap for my taste. I would've gotten a resonator or second muffler if I kept it. Is it just a 1zz? You're probably JUST looking for sound if so. Straight-pipe is gonna be annoying on a daily.
Thumbly 2zz right on! I'd still suggest a resonator, but that's just my preference on sound. I don't think there will be much difference in actual performance either way.
Hmm not sure.. I'm pretty sure the 06+ matrix was on a whole new chassis. I like HKS as a brand, had an HKS "Hi-Power" axle-back on my is300 and a full HKS turbo-back on my 03 wrx. Went with an Invidia q300 cat-back on my 09 wrx.

Mine got a little louder and smoother. I also started getting slight pops when shifting after a few months, which I was happy about.
