    like the video. I replaced the water pup on my 2006 115 Yamaha outboard , all went well until I test and flash the engine. to my surprise little water comes from the drip hose and lots of water comes from the lower casing not sure what went wrong but need some help.

    • @theoutdoorsportsmen
      @theoutdoorsportsmen  Před 4 lety

      Jose, thank you for the question, and for watching the video. Glad it was able to assist you some what Water should come out of the pee hole in back of the motot it should not be dripping but it should come out of there with a stream and also you will find water coming from different areas at the lower unit because that does fill with water when it is in the lake Not sure if you did anything wrong however I would check the thermostat and just make sure that the engine doesn't overheat You may have not gotten the water inlet tube in the right place when you put it back together that is a possibility so I would check that first thanks again for watching hope this helps let me know if I can be of any other assistance

    When removing the impeller itself then when I remove the base plate and the gasket under it, am I able to remove it without taking the keyway out.? I have a Y115 also its important to have that key way even when you replace it correct? so as to when you replace the impeller down onto it it glides into place easy and not get jammed up.

    • @theoutdoorsportsmen
      @theoutdoorsportsmen  Před 4 lety +2

      Okay David let me see if I can answer the question Yes in most cases you do need to remove the key because the wear plate won't come up off the shaft and you will need to keep that key unless the kit that you buy has a new one in it. What I usually do is I just find out what impeller blade actually has the keyway boss or the keyway cut in the inside of the pump and I just line that blade with the key and then slide it down. At that point and I'll put my cover on and I'll take a pair of pliers and just turn the prop shaft why I'm applying even pressure on the cover and pushing down on it If I still didn't answer this correctly just let me know and thank you for taking the time I hope this helps

    After I took the metal cover off the impeller, the impeller has what looks like a metal and nylon "collar" holding the impeller to the driveshaft. It does NOT want to come off... any suggestions?

    • @theoutdoorsportsmen
      @theoutdoorsportsmen  Před 5 lety +2

      It sounds like what you're telling me is that the metal Part that is in the center of the impella is stuck on the shaft if that's the case you need to take a couple of screwdrivers on each side and try to pry it up sometimes I've had to take a small cut off blade and cut the Impala housing away

    Does a 1993 70 hp Yamaha outboard have a poppet valve? My alarm come on at low speed while I am trolling. Water pump was suppose to have been replaced, at least I paid for the replacement

    • @theoutdoorsportsmen
      @theoutdoorsportsmen  Před 3 lety +1

      Honestly I'm not sure but I think it probably does because most yamaha motors do have a warning system that will activate if there is low or no water pressure. Even if the water seems to be pumping ok I would suggest you change the water pump and make sure all gaskets are good. I hope this helps Thanks for watching

    When you lower the Impeller and housing back down to seat it,,,, ARE YOUR TURNING the HOUSING "CLOCK WISE or COUNTER CLOCKWISE"?

    • @theoutdoorsportsmen
      @theoutdoorsportsmen  Před 4 lety

      Thanks for you question. The prop shaft needs to be turned clockwise when installing the impeller

    • @theoutdoorsportsmen
      @theoutdoorsportsmen  Před 4 lety +1

      They basically are the same Steve but the water pump is larger. You will follow the same process when changing your pump the 115 . Thanks for the question and watching the video

    I have a question I have no problem with the water pump I have no spark to the plugs I replaced the cdi and the ignition pack I have a Yamaha v4 115 2 stroke 4 cylinder Any suggestions what it can be? I'm lost. Kill switch been replaced

    • @theoutdoorsportsmen
      @theoutdoorsportsmen  Před 4 lety

      Mike if you change the CDI pack and you still don't have spark it would probably more likely be the stator / charging coil so I would check that for sure cuz that's what actually controls and fires the CDI pack. you could have a timer base issue but they usually don't give too much of a problem but also make sure you check your kill switch and make sure it's not accidentally shut off or shorted out thanks for your question if I can assist you any further let me know
