We bought a midea U shaped ac this year. Very cheap to operate by comparison, and running it has really reduced our allergies. We are not needing antihistamines anymore. 😊
I have seasonal allergies. Other than using sting nettle used as a natural antihistamine, I have two air purifiers in the house. One in the bedroom and one in the living room. My first unit I bought had a nice feature that would increase in speed if the unit would pickup more allergens in the air, it would speed up the fan. The old unit didn't have a prefilter screen to catch dust, so I had to vacuum the filter. My new unit has a washable prefilter. The reason I have two units is one unit will not filter the house. If I have one big unit they draw much more power than a small unit. I also stay in one room at a time, so at bedtime I turn on the bedroom unit and turn off the living room unit . I return it to the living room unit only after I get up.

I love my medical grade air purifier made by Austin Air. I like that the housing is NOT plastic. Will be curious to hear if your son finds relief with this unit.
Also instead of using sugar use locally produced Honey from the local polinators.
Interesting. I'm going to look more into this my son Daniel has really bad allergies and they have gotten really bad since we moved out here to Macomb from Cleveland, OH 3 years ago when I retired. Do you have to use a smart phone to control it? That would be a deal breaker since I don't have a smart phone in fact I don't have any kind of phone. Is the filter something that needs to be replaced or is it washed?
My understanding is that the filter is not designed to be washed.
I would like to know more about the filter in changing it. I also would like to know more about the cost of the unit and the cost of the changing of the filter
Does your son with the allergies notice a difference with this purifier fan?
We don't know because we haven't had it during the spring yet. That's when he his allergies are the worst.

My understanding is that the filters are not designed to be washed. DREO does sell replacement filters.
Sorry I missed it, I was (playfully) getting attacked by a corgi and a 7 year old. Does it have an ionizer? I can't seem to find air purifiers with ionizers anymore!
I've read that negative ions sometimes make respiratory conditions worse. Might be good they're not selling them. Like most decaf coffee in the U.S. extracts caffeine using paint stripper solvent. The 💦 extraction they do in OTHER countries is safe.
@janetmacdonald2823 I hadn't heard that about the ionizers! It seems like it helps us, but we don't have any major breathing issues. Wouldn't surprise me though, thanks for sharing! I've also heard that coffee in the US has quite a bit of mold and that's why the coffee in other countries taste so much better. They reject the moldy coffee grounds (after testing it) and the US just takes whatever comes this way. Oi.

I see that the replacement filters are 40.00 each to replace. My. The question is, how long does the filter last for.

All I had to do was unwrap it and set it up; Dreo recommends leaving at least 15 inches between the Air Purifier Tower Fan and the wall. You'll need to periodically clean the prefilter and replace the HEPA filter about every six months."
Most of them have a light that comes on and are based on hours of use.
