As a struggling father I needed this song. I work from the time I wake up to when I lay down. 4:30 I start my main job in construction. I’m off at 4 and go go work on side jobs. When I get home I make wooden crafts to sell. I have 3 kids and an amazing wife. I’m physically, mentally, and emotionally drained, but to see my family’s stomach full and a roof over there head is what keeps me going. Y’all plz pray for me.

I'm not an emotional man. That being said, I cried when this song played. It made me think of my father and all hes had to do for our family. Factory work, swing shifts, blisters, busted knees and back. U dont think about it when ur kids but god he sacrificed himself for our survival. U always hear about the hardships of being a mother but never the sacrifices of being a father. Now in my thirties, I too have a child of my own and a family. I work long hours in construction in the florida heat just to keep out heads above water. Sometimes I do side jobs so I can take my family somewhere nice every now and then. I hope I'm doin ok just trying to follow in my fathers shoes. Us blue collar workers are forgotton amongst all that is happening in country. Just know we r still here. We r keeping the country moving forward. God bless all the fathers and god bless the good ole usa.

Shout out to the men and women who work more than 40. Shout out to the families that stand behind these men and women. I’m tired from work, but it ain’t like the tired you get from being hungry or broke. I know millions of people pray every night for a job that gets them overtime, well I pray that they get it. This is the greatest country in the world, and I hope to see everyone in it thrive.

    [Verse 1]
Four AM, Lord, don't it come way too soon
You'd think by now, it'd be something you'd be used to
So put on your coffee, turn on the news
It's gonna be hot as hell, but at least the skies are blue
Clocking in more hours, but you do what ya gotta do
    [Chorus]
    I know you're tired, I know you're hurting
I know you're broke down to the bone
    But your bills are paid
And there's smiling faces waiting on you at home
It ain't always easy, it ain't ever like you planned
Oh but man, ain't it working, working man
    [Verse 2]
Now you're going home while the suns going down
You're still miles away, but you can already hear the sound
Of a little voice, saying "Daddy come out and play"
So you steal a couple more minutes from a damn good day
You're clocking in, wore out, wouldn't want it any other way
    [Chorus]
    I know you're tired, I know you're hurting
I know you're broke down to the bone
    But your bills are paid
And there's smiling faces waiting on you at home
It ain't always easy, It ain't ever like you planned
Oh but man, ain't it working, working man
    [Bridge]
It's the sweat and blood and bruises
Calloused hands, hard as can be
    There's bread on the table
    There's presents under the tree
    [Chorus]
    I know you're tired, I know you're hurting
I know you're broke down to the bone
    But your bills are paid
And there's smiling faces waiting on you at home
It ain't always easy, It ain't ever like you planned
Oh but man, ain't it working, working man
It ain't always easy, It ain't ever like you planned
Oh but man, ain't it working, working man

I was only 17 when I moved out to find a better life for my self and get off drugs. I was the only one in my family to have a high school diploma for many generations. I found work as a underground utilities worker for a couple of years. I met my wife when I was 18 she moved in with me and I became a husband later on. I'm 23 now and am trying to be a mechanic at my job. I have a boy who is now a year old. I work my ass off every day and try to do the best I can to be a provider for them and set aside my own wants to make sure they have what they need. Every time I hear this song early in the morning it makes things better and for a short time I don't feel stressed about life and I find peace on my ride to work and home. I hope others find peace in this song

Part of me feels like this song doesn't directly relate to me, but the other part feels so grateful that it indirectly does. I have a PhD in a scientific field where much of time is spent in the lab, which I guess one would say is "white collar". However, the only reason I got to this point was my family. My dad (auto mechanic) and my grandpa (coal miner) absolutely taught me the value of hard work, and supported me through choosing my path in life. Due to this, I will never take the "working man" for granted. Some of the smartest and most compassionate people I have met were farmers, mechanics, miners, ranchers, etc, and I will make sure my own kids understand that.

Justin Moore is back to making his good old traditional style country. Some of the smaller local country stations will play the good stuff. Mainstream and not mainstream. Where I live we have a country station that plays all the pop country and a station that plays real country.

I e traveled the country...I leave before the sun rises and get home as its setting...6 days a week 70 - 80 hrs every week. There are days that it gets to me...times the stress, frustration, pain and fatigue wear on me and I just sit in my truck as a few tears roll down my cheeks. Love this song. It's one of the few songs I will belt at the jobsite or in my garage at the house. I know my neighbors have got to hear me singing this. The other morning at work, I was the first one on the jobsite and was singing this rather loud, didn't hear the other contractors arrive, needless to say once I was done I got a round of applause. Being a rather quiet person at work, they were amazed I had the vocals that I do.
This song has got to be one of my favorites, mainly because it's a tradesmans anthem.

My girlfriend and step son hate when I’m gone. I just hope they know I do it all for them. 7 days a week on nights right now and this song hits home hard. Not being able to spend time with them is what hurts the most. Sometimes we need music like this to keep us pushing. This is what mainstream country should sound like. I guess I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but I have a very strong feeling that they know you do it all for them. This is coming from a “seasoned” ironworker wife. We were about your age when my husband started his apprenticeship, so I’ve lived it. Just don’t forget to sprinkle in some random special moments now and then. It doesn’t have to be anything spectacular...randomly bring your girlfriend flowers or something else you know she likes, or if you get a day off, take her to a nice hotel, just the two of you. As for you little one...take him on a one-on-one drive, or take him out to supper, just the two of you...just let him talk about anything his little heart desires. I guarantee he will remember it forever. We’ve raised 2 boys in this life, they’re 17 and 14 now, but those “little” moments meant the world to them, especially our youngest. He still talks about him and dad going out for wings, and that was 5 years ago. Hang in there, keep the lines of communication open, you got this 🙂

Traveling wind technician here. This song brought a tear to my eye nearly instantly. I could tell just as other people here the authenticity of this song. The bittersweet that comes from sacrifice in our jobs for the betterment of our families. Beautiful song and I’m very lucky to have stumbled upon it.

Going on 13 years in the oilfield, sitting here 700 miles from home, just finished my 10th 15 hour day in a row, thinking of my son at home, all I've missed, wondering if its been worth it, listening to this song for the first time, I needed this today. Thank you and God bless.

Today is my birthday and I'm sitting on the job waiting for daylight. My son turns 18 in a few weeks and in 2 months he will start work with me as my assistant. I couldn't be more proud of that boy, but at the same time my heart aches. He is entered into manhood and will travel that long hard road that my father and I traveled. I hate to see him work so hard and 14 hour days, but I know he will be just fine. It's bitter sweet as a father. And to all, remember us common, blue collar workers is what makes America what it is. Let's keep our head up, and spirits high. I love this song

There is something amazing about songs with just the lyrics and an acoustic guitar. All the frills are gone. Just a man with a message and a melody.

My son, who is now 40, sent this to me. He said, "This reminds me of you dad".
Still have tears in my eyes
