- We're absolutely loving all the comments and feedback on the skatepark build and ride project at my house. This barn is becoming an amazing space to fill with ramps for mountain bike, BMX and now skateboards too with this new mini ramp we've built. Ben and Jamie are hilarious riding it! Enjoy the build lapses and new features and please keep commenting ideas on what new jumps to build in the next video.

Matt, I know you guys are learning and the construction for this mini ramp makes sense to be flush with the existing floor. But, for the other part of your skatepark, you really shouldn't have your cutouts(sides of your ramps) transition directly to your subfloor. The bottoms of the cutouts should be elevated by the size of a 2x4 so that you get a smooth transition to the flat bottoms and it adds an immense amount of strength. The flat bottoms should have 2x4 framing on top of the subframing your buddy did for you. The spot where your transitions meet the flat bottoms now, with the skinny/pointy end, isn't going to be nearly as strong or smooth as they could be and I honestly don't know how you plan on framing your flat bottoms. There's still time to fix this before you get too far on the build and it would make so much difference.
This.
I made a similar comment on the last video. This needs to be upvoted as much as possible so they see it. It's gonna suck to pull the wood up that has already been laid. Lain? Laid. But Is much better than realizing it further down the road.
@@cairnserelli72 exactly. The amount of pressure the low parts of all those ramps are going to receive, I honestly see it failing the first session the way it is now.
Hey Andy. We were having the discussion today because i can see that the cut outs don’t offer much rigidity or strength but I couldn’t find a solution so kept doing it this way. Which is the only way I know how!
So would the 12mm ply wood alone not be nearly strong enough to span the 600mm gaps in the sub floor?
I guess im in pretty deep now…
Thanks again
@@MattJones I totally understand, the way you are doing it would be how we've all built ramps to be placed on a cement floor. Building on subframing like you have it is a bit different. I don't think the ply will be strong enough for that span but the other thing is think about how many times you might land flat or close to the bottom of the transition and how much force you'll be coming down on it. What I would do now that you've done the good work on these ramps is elevate your current cutouts up on some 4x4s - directly under the transition cutouts and that will get your strength back. And build your flats with 2x4s for the rest. I know it's more lumber but compared to the ply, they are somewhat cheap and you'll be much happier in the long term.
Jamie's skills on the scooter and Matt on the board were huge surprises! Well done lads!
That double tailwhip from Jamie was actually really impressive!
Matt, Build the vert wall first so you know what space you have and then if you still want spine box you could build it with lever wheels that football goals have that fold up and down so if you wanted you could move it and drop in straight and go up the vert wall and hit some massive tricks. Love the content
That was actually astonishing how fast matt got the hang of skating!🔥🔥
Reminds me of how RWilly is insane on a scooter and then can just translate all those skills to a bike no problem. A lot of pro BMX riders can skate really well too since you spend a lot of time together. I picked up skating a bit back when I was riding BMX everyday. Most of my friends were skaters so it just made sense. It seems like a mindset thing. If you got good at one action sport then with practice you should be able to do any of the others really. Especially the world class talents have no issues transitioning.
He’s skated before bud
Earthworks at the playground, framing and shuttering at the farm and not forgetting all the scaffolding at the compound- Matt Jones gonna be straight up building houses on this channel before long
fr 😂
I'm so greatful I stumbled upon your channel at the beginning of the lockdown trail build. Been hooked ever since! The build looks absolutely incredible!! Thanks to Jamie (sorry if I spelled it wrong) and Ben I'm sure you're all putting in a lot of time for us🤘cant wait to see more!
Me too brother best Channel on CZcams!!
haha I did the exact same thing at the beginning of lockdown, so glad I did.
Wow didn’t expect Matt to be such a good skateboarder well
Done mate 👊🏼🤘🏼
OMG I nearly pissed myself laughing at Ben winding himself on the rope 😂
You boys are brilliant
my eyes hurt now i laughed so much at that
I would definitely add another sheet of ply on the face of the ramps, one hard landing or crash it’ll just snap!
By the looks of it it’s just normal plywood also, which isn’t extremely strong! If you have the budget chuck 6.5mm birch plywood over the top to skin it as that holds up immensely.
Tottally agree, surprised he didn't use birch from the get go, obviously more expensive but a lot of weakness at the lower parts of the transitions. I am sure his red bull builder will set him right after watching.
I put coping on a mini qp i made, use long bolts with hooked ends, drill holes in the coping from one side for the hooked ends to sit in, then drill the holes for your bolts through the timber on your ramp, bang a few washers and tighten it, the hooks are then locked in tight, and your coping is solid without any holes exposed to mess your grinds up.
Build the back wall the far side as a climbing wall, loads of hand holds all over and some ropes from the ceiling, multipurpose room, keeps you fit.
Looks awesome. If you wanted to, you can cover the opening with plastic to help keep the heat in while you're working and playing at the skate park! Cheers
Thanks for watching my video.
Congratulations, you have been selected among winners 🤩🎊Message vias telegram up 👆👆
Until today I've never seen real life slow mo crashes. Thanks Ben!
Consider varnish, oil or lacquering the plywood it'll make the ramp sound a little nicer as you're using it as weird as that sounds and the rolling resistance will be lessened. It'll also protect it from it being semi exposed to the elements
that wall next to the mini isn't going to last long either
They could always get some Skatelite to put over it if they're worried about that (and have the funds).
@@jacobflores8666 nah all it needs is literally just a coat of anything, even paint and that'll be fine. Plus have you tried skateboarding on skatelite?
Might have already been said. But to add curvature to the ply, set the depth of a circular saw to bout a third of the thickness of the ply. Then rip kerf lines across the bottom, which allows it to flex.
where else can you go and simultaneously learn how to build ramps and also laugh hysterically at the genuine fun great friends are having?
Watching Ben and Jamie Skate with the rope is amazingly funny!! The "Falls" made me cry laughing.
We want to see Jamie dropping in
It would be insane if you build a ramp into a foam pit at the far end, while it could also still be used for transfers. Keep up the good work 🔥
Matt, can you please do more bike builds. they are so interesting and great to watch. PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE
Haven’t even thought about skating in a long time. These videos have sparked it again. Thanks!
Love the drill spinning backwards 😂
We definitely need more scootering content. 🔥🔥
Awesome stuff boys! Just noticed the "clink clink" noise as you skate across the bottom centre of the the miniramp where the ply joins are. If you want to smooth out any of your ramp's ply joins where they aren't quite meeting even and make it seamless and safe to roll over/crash on just get yourself a cheap belt sander and simply feather out the joins with it and Bob's your uncle. Real quick and easy. Keep up the good work, you're living out a lot of our dreams you lucky blighters! :)
You should get one of them trampoline support things they use to learn flips on a trampoline, get that up there for Ben and Jamie to learn tricks, would be awesome!!
looks dope boiz! in my experience with ramp building, I think it would be better to use 2 sheets of 9mm ply for everything regardless of the radius. it will be a much smoother ride and much more durable. I also would put a template every 1.5 meters at most (ie 3 plywood templates for each quarter pipe on the mini). ya'll are killing it, what a cool series!
I honestly haven't laughed this much in such a long time. Ben and Jamie attempting to skate was absolute CZcams Gold. More videos like this please, mates messing about and having a laugh. Top Vid.
To bend the wood on a tighter radias wet the wood and it will make it softer so it can bend more without cracking
Hey Matt, next to the big quarter and bank you should have a big roll in into a resi box jump like at adrenaline alley so that Jamie can learn new tricks on it in future videos!
Such a sick indoor skate park Matt!!!!!
Coping turned out great! Might consider doing a set of huge barn doors on the big opening. That might help the life span of the wood and keep the wind down in the winter. Keep up the great work gents!
how about investing in a giant pvc strip curtain for the open edge of the barn? that way you can keep the elements out and retain some heat without compromising on light
probably the best episode ive seen since the mini bikes. love it guys
I don't know why I love watching you 3 building ramps so much! I can't wait to see the finished job and a big session 👍
Great stuff guys always a laugh and what a great build.LEGENDS.
A couple ideas for the skate park! Personally, i think a great name for the skatepark/BMX/DJ "park" would be "the hanger", the name can mean 2 things, 1. iit'swhere you get a load of hang time in the air, and 2. A hanger is where airplanes are stored, and airplanes get loads of airtime or"hang time" hence why iIthink a name like "The Hanger" or something similar would suit it quite well. For the spine box you plan to build, a way you could spice up the look of it would somehow be getting the graphic of a spine along the bottom edge of the coping, it may require a finish over it to keep it from fading too quickly, but adding a spine to the spine box would be cool. Also (this is a very hard task, however i, fIel it would look amazing) in the back right corner (the empty space behind you at 19:09 for reference) would be a 'satsatellitesh' of sorts, you would get the half bowl feature (without the posibility a grind) like you said would be cool up where the mini ramp is, with the added bonus of being able to go almost upside down withwheels still on the wood, this could also be a verticle wall to with the satalite dish feature at the top so you or others could continue with speed with the cool feeling of being nearly upside down!
it looks great so far, looking forward to the content and the guest apearences of more than just pro dj/bmx riders, but pro skaters too!
Matt you look hilarious on the scatboard😂😂😂
Matt looks like a great skater next to ben, love the vid!
Matt you should build a spin thing going towards the vert Wall and a box/resi going towards the mini ramp.
I love these skatepark builds keep up the good work 👍
Absolutely awesome what you can build keep up the awesome job
Awesome can't wait to see next vid and u all ride the place 👍
Funniest thing I’ve seen for ages. More skateboarding needed from Jamie and Ben 😂
this brought me back to my teen days when my buddies and i built our first half pipe in my back yard. so many nights spent at 3 am learning how to do a airwalk.
Skate board is like YEET out of here!!!!
on the far side you should make a big roll in and a big box with a Ressie , and some mats at the back wall to stop you. there would be perfect space for it. love the barn cant wait to see what it will be like in a months time keep up the good content.
Love the skatepark build videos. Keep ‘em coming.
Hay Matt ! Great work with the skate board half pipe 😁 just wanted to say u should in the summer put tarp down and turn it into a slip’n’slid that would be the coolest thing ever !!!!! Jamie would be great at it !
What a laugh!! Loving this build project
Looks sick! cant wait to see more videos on it !
This project is amazing! Buzzing for more!
Bro Matt take Ben and Jamie to the mountain snowboarding or skiing that would be awesome to see 😂
Just thinking a collab with Colin Furze at the skate park would be insane, I can't image the chaos Colin and Matt would conjure up
Yess
That mini ramp session was the best!! Look at jamie busting it out on the scooter. Awesome Job guys keep em coming👍👍
The ramps look amazing. I have an idea for you. The middle ramp going up to the mini skate board ramp at the top section. Maybe get a projector or someone good at art and draw your logo on to the ramp and then paint it. May be have some grafitey art on the ramps either side of the middle ramp to give it some added style
Throw some chain link fencing up on the walls around the mini ramp. It's a pretty common solution, and it looks like you already put a hole through your barn on that first bail with the rope!
I'd love to see Jordan Thackery absolutely slay this place after you finish its build, he is the steeziest pro skater I've ever seen and I think he would put some real creative lines together
You all are blessing us with such great entertainment and laughs. I know I speak for many on here, THANK YOU!!!
great to see see the skatepark coming to life! Matt, I want to see you skate more once the park is complete! Plz bring back the bmxs for an episode as well :)
You need a climbing harness, that's even more comfortable than just a rope 😁
I like the rope idea but you might want a climbing harness to avoid accidental strangulation
Miniramp looks ace 🤟
10/10 entertainment 🤙
super sick!!! I agree with some of the other commenters about building from the outside in, that way making sure you have room for the rear vert, before filling the middle. Also, what about some sort of big sheet or heavy duty tarp close off the wall, moisture is going to eat that plywood alive.
You should definitely order a $50 safety harness for your mini ramp rope, save some ribs
Love these barn builds🔥🔥
Feels like this has took ages to drop, I mean that testament to the channel that you guys are building 🤘
Build the vert wall first and then see what you can fit in between. It would be nicer to just have a vert wall into the thing you already built than to have some useless little box that doesn't fit in there. Maybe put the box a bit to the side so you can advoid it when you want to blast the bigger ramps
Hey Mathew
Just a though you could cut out a section at the back of the barn and extend if your worried about space! Put a small extension on and you’d be buzzing mate! 👍🏼
Bin watching ur channel so long I don't just come for bikes, this 1 had me in stitches 😂 both this and the playground are n achievement 👌 u should be proud
i love this, i was like how these guys going to get thru all these projects and your banging thru it!! PROPS
Matt, you should ply the block wall and add a coping the full length of the 2 quarter and bank at the top, so you can step up and stall on there
That poor Santa Cruz deck. I used to be very into skating. Just before starting to ride mountain bikes. And seeing you guys struggle was really funny. Cool idea with the rope. And Matt you had some nice sessions going on there. Looking forward to seeing the place progress.
LETS GOOO I love seeing the notification pop up this place is looking sick now 🤟Also on the other side of the room next to the spine box you could have a pyramid to then link stuff together and make more lines
I love that Matt is living his ultimate fantasy
You should put coping on the side of the ledge that the mini ramp is on so you can jump off the quarter's on bmx bikes and grind the coping and drop back into the next quarter
Thanks for watching my video.
Congratulations, you have been selected among winners 🤩🎊Message vias telegram up 👆👆
Great looking builds can't wait to see yous shred it on bikes
You should build a resi box it’s perfect for landing new tricks and after the resi you can have the vert wall btw I’ve been a fan since you started building the lockdown trails❤
Please never stop doing these videos
looking sick boys:) cant wait to see that epic step down from the mini ramp
Probably the funniest episode since the mini bikes, unreal
Ben is a legend
you guys should look into doing a top layer of skatelite. It's a little more expensive but from experience of riding and building with it is absolutely worth it. It's stronger and grippier and just all around better from my experience
So sick guys!
Brilliant stuff! 👊😂
I'm going to suggest a trampoline rig belt or maybe a climbing harness on the rope so you don't have it wrapped round your ribs 😀
Seamless laughter transition on the intro 👍
absolutely loving all this content lately! living out everyone's dream with all these builds and projects
Really enjoyed this one. The two tango tete'd ninjas had me in stitches 🤣 🍊 🥷 🛹
Thanks for watching my video.

Hi Matt! Listening to you talk about a curved coping, which looks like 50-75mm hollow section as us metal workers call it, and with the correct tools you can do that no problem! I’m only 26 but am a supervisor at a small company based I n the north east of England (up the toon!) and we’re well equipped to do just that! If you’re ever interested I’d do it for the love of the Channel or if you just want some pointers on the tools you need to do this and how to use them I’m more than happy to help. Also work with radii every day and could show you some pretty cool tricks on getting the perfect curve for a ramp depending on size and speed of run up.. not like you don’t know already 😂
The rope idea was fantastic! 😂😂😂😂
You could open up part of the back wall behind the skate ramp and drop into some outside dirt jumps!
Enjoyed that!
Matt like in front of the mini ramp the platform and when your doing that 12ft transfer you could do like put a metal grinder so you can jump and grind on to it trust it will look sick
Thanks for watching my video.

I LIVE for these uploads, keep up the great work. 😊❤
I’ve had success with Wetting the plywood!! Soak it and install with deck grade screws. 2x4’s should be 9”-12” spaced . Or get thinner Masonite
This is by far the best video I have seen in a while! Amazing content!
Watching your videos without laughing is impossible. you make a bad day good keep up the content
To Ben, I absolutely love your edits man. Everyone on this channel is at the top of their game.
Love watching this series!
Definitely build a narrow roller closest to the outside edge next to the spine box. Especially if you're building a vert wall on the other side.
This is why having friends is cool. Wish I knew how that felt...
