  • Took the KTM 1290 super adventure on a Test Ride. It is a European adventure bike with all the bells & whistles to take on the almight BMW1200GS. what amazed me the most about this bike is the electronic suspension really works well. I tested it on really bumpy roads that I ride regularly and off road scenario with major ripples and the bike in different ride coped extremely well. The things I did not like were the buttons and all the button pushing to set up the ride, wind protection is okay at the least. Enjoy!

Did it have the standard continental trail attack tires?
It seemed to go through the wet track ok, which surprised me because mine got bogged in wet grass on the standard tires.

Nice job on the review. I'm wondering about the wind protection. How tall are you?

Good video, but I didn't like the bike at all. I test-rode it back to back with Super Duke GT and latter was a blast! But Super Adventure just wasn't the bike I enjoyed... But you did a nice review!

+iSlander thx I try not to be too biased when making the reviews and compare it to much to the crosstourer. The only thing I rate above is the suspension. It is a good bike but I would not trade in my crosstourer. Cheers

1290 Super Adventure has a safety flaw in its design, the motorcycle has a major safety problem.
I bought mine six month ago and since day one I have been experiencing head wobble at speed ranging from 100 to 120 mph.
I contacted the dealer and they said “there is a software upgrade regarding the head wobble”
I took the motorcycle to the dealer, after the software upgrade I discovered that the four setting for the damping is not working any more there is not difference in the performance between sports, street, comfort or off-road

You need to get back on the the dealer to fix it. Others have working bikes. If the dealer can't do it, find another or contact KTM direct.

Welcome to KTM. Most of their products are majorly flawed.

Surely they can't be worse than Ducati though (I had lots of other issues as well as the below).
My Ducati also had head shake at speed, it turned out to be a bad rear shock.
The final fix after the shock was replaced was moving from the stock Scorpion tyre to the Scorpion 2. It's now stable at 210+ km/h (GPS, where permitted), although the official rating for luggage is 180 km/h, so I don't do that for long) with top box and side cases fitted.
So the trick (@nick be) may be to take out a demo bike to compare and if it is wobble free insist on a fix or replacement? If it's identical then it would certainly point towards a design flaw.
The 2016 1290 SA I tested had no shake and the best suspension I have experienced using the stock TA2s, I tried it both solo and with passenger on all kinds of road other than off-road.

You have no idea what you are talking about, and am not the only one who has experience this problem, am sure you work for KTM dealer.
P.S Calling an "idiot"don't eliminates the design flow.
