I grew up in the states but I’m trying to learn the authentic cooking of Haiti. Question. What makes this different from cornmeal porridge? I have on hand the fine cornmeal can that be used or should I use cornstarch?

Yes use the fine cornmeal. The texture and taste is what makes it difference.
