1 Cup of flour
1 teaspoon of salt ( I only used 1/2 a teaspoon of the salt)
1 cup of water ( I only used 1/2 a cup for this recipe)

So I'm embarrassed to say that this is the first time I've ever made my own dumplings for chicken and dumplings. But I admit that. This is one of the most simple dumpling recipes I have come across yet in my search. Thank you so much I'm going to try it today !

I make my dumpling with the seasoned chicken broth. Gives it much more flavor.

Aw, and my Mom from 1914 Ark did the exact same! I didn't get he recipe for her chicken and dumplings and cornbread. The dumplings she'd roll in cornstarch. Awesome!

I only use all purpose flour and plain water (no salt) for my dumplings. I've learned to make it from my late mom. My mom never used broth or anything else as she said the dumplings will absorb the flavour from whatever it is being cooked with and, she was right!
I often make chicken n dumplings, and crab n dumplings etcetera, and I make it just as my mom made her's! I'm now 68 years old and I'm still making it the same way!
I also make brule jhol n dumplings which is a bit different, because the dumplings would've to be cooked separately and served together. These comfort foods are very delicious!

Thankyou so much my new neighbours are from napale and we all live in australia together now. Last night they invited me to a dinner party and it was absolutely gorgeous. It was 35 degrees very hot and we all sat together on their living room floor making dumplings as the sun was setting through the living room window right underneath the air conditioning. I was hopeless at making the dumplings but my neighbours were absolutely brilliant, kind, and caring. They asked me if i had made my own dough before and i honestly replied that I hadn't. I promised my neighbours after i left last night that i was going to be practicing. Little did I know that i was actually going to start practicing my own dough for the process. The way you explained the steps, your preparation was absolutely wonderful clear and easy and now I am actually doing it. Thankyou so so much.

After you make this, what is the best way to store it until you are ready to use it? Then for how long can you store it? If you boil it, in a soup or stew, how long until you know the dough is done enough to eat it? Great video, and I look forward to hearing from you!

That first rolling style you made is how we TS Islanders cook ours for fish dishes we cook baking powder dumplings for seafood bigger than fish, it's crazy our people have never lived in the States or the Caribbean but our cooking methods are very similar 😊

I make my dumplings close to the same way. Except I add more salt and even pepper sometimes and a little garlic powder. Just so they have a bit more flavor. Then I roll the dough out with a roller untill it's the desired thickness. Then I take a pizza cutter and cut it into squares sized how I like them. Then I drop them into seasoned chicken broth. My mom taught me how to do these a long time ago. She told me she made them for my dad many many years ago and he called them poor man's dumplings since the ingredients it takes are super cheap lol. I've ate dumplings like this hundreds of times in my lifetime. I've eaten them more than just about anything else and I love em. I'll never get tired of them even though they're so simple. Thinking about making some today, but I've been experiencing constant nausea for the last few days so I dunno if I should eat yet. I'm considering it though.
