  • Elements of the 26th MEU, Battalion Landing Team 1/6, conduct a range part of Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) training on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. MOUT training increases the lethality of the MEU’s infantrymen through live-fire drills, room clearing procedures and small team tactics in order to prepare for their upcoming deployment.

      They've inherited SOF weapons without changing manual of arms. The instructors aren't doing their job, either... so many of the shooters cocking their heads to the side, dipping down to get some form of cheek/chin weld. Civilians can get better training than a lot of what I see going on in this video.

      @@silvermediastudio was kinda wondering, shouldn't switching shoulders be emphasized more? or just generally not exposing yourself too much? kind of hard to say what we do in Finland nowadays since I've been out of full-time service for 8 years now but try to go on as many voluntary exercises as i can, and it seems manual of arms changes every couple months lmao. happy that the new stocks make cheek welds possible, only like 20 years late to that. still, FREEZING WINDS 23 (or changing winds, more like) was the first time our instructors ever emphasized short-stocking when taking a corner and I definitely like the change in direction - while the old "LAPD SWAT" style of always being stacked and having 1 kneel while 2 is on top with roughly the same sector of fire, looked really cool when well executed and made sense at the time, but I do appreciate the counter-argument of "the enemy will shoot centre of mass in a CQB situation - don't put your face where your centre of mass would normally be. switch shoulders, learn to shoot from both, expose as little as you can for maximal gains, kind of like being a 10/10 on onlyfans."
      hope we don't start going back now that we're really starting to emphasize staying covered and showing as little skin as possible for as much gain as possible, if we go back to SWAT-style I'll have a quiet aneurysm. do you guys still stack up and go go go or is it all slicing the pie? or maybe some weird hybrid? our recon guys always sliced the pie, was MP NCO personally so focus was on overwhelming force and tempo, get in and grab/shoot the fuckers, if a couple drop at the doorway then that's just war, toss a 'nade next time. pie-slicing has been more for searching missions/pre-contact in our use, but has been making the rounds a bit. (although sadly we end up with different squad makeups every time, sometimes I end up with guys I served with and we find the right pace instantly, usually it's some randos who did MOUT once maybe perhaps in a dream and I have to try my best to slap-dash some kind of training session together just so everyone's on the same page - some people wanna use the cross-in entry method but if even the ultra moto battle rattle guys asking for it can't pull it off well enough to not leave a sizable gap between 1 and 2, then I don't think it would work all that well in general use either (note: only because we switch squad makeups constantly so you never know who you're with, which blows huge cock especially in MOUT - you rarely get any further than basics if your team isn't already stacked with more experienced/confident folks). with SWAT-style you can at least start slow, find the tempo for the fireteam, and then gradually increase speed when people get comfortable with their sectors. slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
      how much weight does all that rifle bling add? not much experience with optics, but do they have LPVO's? saw some ACOGs at least, then you add the suppressor, foregrip, IR pointer, do they have standard illuminators as well? looks really front-heavy so I guess that's better for recoil, considering they're walking with their backs straight in high ready... dunno. from a pure performance standpoint I saw some really confident movement, but also a bit of the opposite - then again I don't know the USMC manual of arms/standard doctrine/techniques so I might just be fucking stupid. S/O to the guy at 03:20 for actually using the doorway as cover and clearing the malfunction post-haste, nice movement. seems like a motivated guy, some of the others seem a bit down, guess it's been raining?
      would really like these videos to have clearer perspectives so you could tell how much people use cover etc. but that's a nit-pick, couple guys seemed to be smack dab in the middle of the door - is that a no-no for the USMC as well?

    • @joshualittle877
      @joshualittle877 Před rokem

      I believe it. US Infantry standards say we have to do about two weeks of live fire exercises about every 4-6 months. When I was in Germany at 1st Batallion 4th Infantry Regiment( OPFOR) (the Unit that replicates bad guys for US and NATO Troops to train against) we did it every four months but we lived on a training center 100 yds from our own range. In addition we have an EST 2000 Simulator that was pretty cool to. If you go to say the 75th Ranger Regiment those guys do live fire shoot houses like 5 days a week all year round. In the US its all about prioritizing ammo budgets. The 82nd Airborne Division at Ft Bragg probably shot more than 1-4 but if you look at their smaller and more agile counterpart tge 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vicenza Italy they hardly get to shoot at all by comparison. This is because Garrison Vicenza Caserma Ederly and Damolin are NATO/ Italian posts not American like those in Germany. They are not even alowed to take their rifles out of the Armory unless they are going to the training center in Germany or going to combat down range. There fore they spend alot of time in Germany because they cant effectively train at home station.( I served in both units among others.)

    • @stevewilson7819
      @stevewilson7819 Před rokem +3

      I came in back in 1980. And pistol qual with the 1911 was a cluster. It took for ever because of all the alibi relays. Experienced Marines used their own magazines. Commercial magazines that is!
      The old weapons systems are limited in capability by their old design. They lack the ability to accept accessories that make them more lethal at distance, and at night. The newer systems also have better ergonomics, and are lighter. Which means you can carry more ammo.
      Well aimed shots in a field environment are a myth with iron sights. Unless the enemy is wearing something that makes them really easy to see. We saw that back in 1990 when we put Marines through the combat transition course. As soon as they were looking through the rear sight the green E silhouette would blend in with the foliage down range.

A the range, theyd draw, fire 2rds fast, and throw it back in the hoster. In real life, theyd do the same thing, only to realize after holstering that they missed or the threat was still trying to kill them.

If you spend as much time training as grunts, you are trained and expected to adapt, so no you won't disengage because it is drilled into your head until the point of insanity . They spend at least 4 months out the year in the field and another 3-4 month doing squad level training at least in the rear. That's when they aren't cleaning weapons. They literally eat sleep live with their weapons. We aren't in the 70s anymore. Their is a lot more critical thinking training that goes into the infantry or FBI for that matter today.
