    it`s not even superior range, the enemy is already in range of it`s attacks, if it weren`t the ai is smart enough to approach. it`s just a heavy lategame ship against frigates

    4 Lances would have made things way faster. Why even have your shield up if nothing ever hits it? Also 4 lances can fire around the stations shields so you don't have to out flux a freaking station.

      yeah, at first it seems reasonable to just get 4 lances but the beam weapons are flux efficient and good at outfluxing opponents, that Paragon had no trouble overloading the station because of it

    Does it mainly work because the AI in station battles always clusters around the station rather than attack the ship that is picking them all off?

      the ai only has access to a set amount of commands and ai itself isnt very aggressive in any way. from what i gather they basically stay away from your effective range(aka where all your guns can hit,including pd)
      this something ive notice with my own fleets aswell. if they dont have a reckless or aggressive officer. they will not touch the enemy if they're within range of it

      ​@@someguyontheinternet1093 This is why the Remnants and Pathers are so dangerous as all Remnants are fearless which is basically a enhanced reckless meaning they often go point blank which is dangerous when combined with their rather strong ships and pathers have their AI set to favor reckless habits which while not usually a problem alone when combined with their almost universal safety overrides and tendency to attack in large numbers results in them easily killing any ship that gets pushed away from the group or killing your flagship if you are a Paragon solo and get even slightly careless.
      Think those two groups cause me more trouble then anything else due to me preferring to solo enemy fleets or use a minimum number of ships to maximize supply gains.

    When blasting shields why not switch off the HILs and switch to using the Tachyon Lances?
    HIL does High Explosive damage and costs 500 flux/s to fire but only deals 250 damage/s to shields so it's not very efficient against shields.
