I just finished this page and was hesitating for a background, lucky you posted this video! My color scheme is very close to yours, and blue was an option! I'll probably go for something simpler and easier, with soft pastel, as my hand is killing me atm. I'll chose the color 30 seconds before applying it, as usual :)
Yes pastels are a great idea for quick and simple backgrounds, you can even blend them together 😁
Love Love Love this picture too! I am not understanding why you use Espresso on the edges of the leaves? Is that supposed to give you depth in the picture? As always, thank you for your instructions on the videos. I am learning so much. Bless you 🙏

I just got this book and some new pencils and the pictures are beautiful but intimidating but you make it seem possible (though I’m sure it’s much harder than you make it look) I’m new to colouring, what kind of pressure do you use when you’re colouring and blending?
Honestly Kerby helps us out by shading the picture himself so we know where to add our darkest colours. So if I start with a light colour then I’m using light pressure be building up layers... but if I start with a dark colour then I use heavy pressure to burnish then lighten it up so there is a fade. I then use my next colour to go over the fade and extend the colour out. I usually make sure there is no white paper left to see. If ever in doubt use less pressure as you can always add more colour but you can’t take it away 😁
